While the Backstreet Boys have been the heartthrobs of millions of women over the years, Nick Carter was the only one who had yet to find his one true love. However, after a boat ride to an island in the Florida Keys and dropping to one knee, the 33-year-old is now officially tying the knot!

Is Nick Carter Engaged — The Cryptic Instagram Photo

Posting on his Instagram account on Friday, Feb. 22, Nick wrote “Big question…great answer,” next to a picture of him and girlfriend Lauren Kitt. This began the speculation that the two are engaged.

“I had the ring in my pocket for two weeks,” Nick told People exclusively confirming the engagement. “I just wanted to get it out of my hands and on to hers.”

Kitt, 29, reacted saying that she “wasn’t expecting” the engagement that took place on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

“It just felt very surreal. We both are just so happy in love right now and on cloud nine,” she told the mag.

Lauren and Nick have been dating for four years. They were working on a workout video together, and rumors swirled that his relationship with her had caused him some drama with his brother Aaron Carter.

The Backstreet Boys Wife (& Baby) Up

Back in November, Backstreet’s bad boy, A.J. McLean, welcomed his first child into the world, Ava Jaymes with wife Rochelle.

Much more recently, Howie Dorough welcomed his second baby into the world. On Feb. 16, his wife Leigh Boniello Dorough gave birth to Holden John!

Kevin Richardson became the proud papa of Mason Frey Richardson, his only child with wife Kristin Kay Willits, in July 2007.

Kevin’s cousin Brian Littrell also became a father in December 2002 ,when he welcomed his first child, Baylee Thomas Wylee Littrell, with his wife — whom he met on a BSB music video shoot – Leighanne Wallace.

As he’s the youngest of the band, it would make sense that Nick is the last to tie the knot. They aren’t sure of a wedding date yet, as they said they need to check with the band’s schedule to figure out what works best!

Although it was reported today that Nick Carter, 32, was unable to attend sister Leslie Carter‘s funeral due to touring commitments, Nick tells TMZ that he was purposely kept out of the loop.

“I wanted to be at my sister’s funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic,” he says.

And although the Backstreet Boy didn’t get into specifics, he’s convinced that his family made a concerted effort to keep him from knowing about the service.

“There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister,” Nick states. “I am trying to stay healthy, positive, and focused.”

While most people were preparing for Super Bowl Sunday, the Carters quietly buried their daughter and sister who died last week from a purported overdose to prescription pills, reports E! Online.

The burial, which had around 65 people in attendance, took place at 4pm at Freay Funeral Home in Mayville, N.Y., near her father’s home where her body was discovered on Jan. 31.

“It was a very wonderful and touching ceremony,” an insider told E!.

Among the mourners, Leslie’s mother Jane and brother Aaron were present.

“The truth will reveal itself,” Aaron tweeted on the morning of Feb. 5 before the service. “I Love you Leslie soo very very very very very much!! virtually no words. You will always be my best friend.”

While it’s a fact that Leslie Carter, 25, died of a drug overdose on Jan. 31, what drove her to do so is unclear. A source, however, tells People that her envy to be in the limelight was a major reason she fell into a downward spiral.

“She thought she would become the next famous Carter sibling,” states a former manager to one of her brothers.

Although Leslie “loved the attention” she received from the family’s brief stint with reality on E!’s House of Carters and had a single released on Shrek 3‘s soundtrack, fame didn’t hit her the way it did with older brother Nick, 32, and younger bro, Aaron Carter, 22.

“She was always happy for her brothers, don’t get me wrong,” the source says. “But it was tough for her.”

Regardless, Leslie’s stepmom, Ginger, believes she had much darker issues to deal with, claiming the young mom “had a long history of mental illness and was on medication for her depression.”

Leslie Carter was found dead on Jan. 31 and friends close to the family tell HollywoodLife.com that they are ‘shocked’ by her untimely passing. The Coroner’s Office tells us that it will take four to six weeks until the toxicology report is complete and that’s when we’ll have some answers as to her cause of death.

The younger sister of the Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter was found dead in upstate New York and a source tells us she was visiting her dad. Leslie resided in Canada, which is about an hour and a half away from Chautauqua County, New York, where her dad lived.

The county is so small that they don’t have a medical examiner’s office, so the body was sent to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office in upstate New York for the autopsy. Her body has been released to the family so that they can organize her funeral arrangements.

We told you that Leslie leaves behind her 10-month-old daughter Alyssa and her husband of three years, Mike Ashton.

Alyssa’s Twitter handle was titled MomAshton and her about me says: “I’m Leslie, I love being a new mom to our wonderful baby girl Alyssa Ashton, and I have a wonderful husband who takes care of his girls. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Nick says in a statement that he’s thankful to those “who have shared their wishes and prayers during this tragic time,” and that he plans to continue with his tour in NYC “as promised.” “Performing is cathartic to me,” he said, “and I am dedicating the rest of my tour to my sister since she loved to watch me perform.”

Leslie appeared alongside her family on the short-lived E! reality series House of Carters, which ran for eight episodes in late 2006.

The Backstreet Boys singer has teen-star advice for Justin – don’t let all the attention get to you!

Nick Carter, who’s been in the limelight since the age of 13 just like Justin Bieber has a message for today’s teen idol — chill when it comes to the photogs who chronicle your every move!

“It’s a part of the game. It’s part of this industry and this life that you’ve chosen,” Nick explains to HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “You have to find some kind of relief and just chill out.”

Backstreet Boy Nick knows that that even young stars can eventually learn to just ignore the craziness of the bright lights. Now, he says, “I don’t pay attention to it. The paparazzi don’t bother me.”

Instead, Nick focuses on what lies ahead — the release of his second solo album. I’m Taking Off hits iTunes on May 24 and Nick’s super-excited to share it with his fans. Last week, the first single from the album, “Just One Kiss,” debuted.

“The song is a general song — a fictitious situation based on experience that we’ve all had,” Nick tells us. “It’s really about a person who is desperate in a relationship who wants to amend the things that they’ve done wrong.”

“I won’t lie, there probably has been times that I’ve been that person,” he continues. “So in order to sing and write that song, you have to have something to relate to.”

The song on the album that really hits home for Nick is “Addicted.” “That song is about being in a relationship and knowing that you are screwed,” he says. “You love that person and you’re addicted.”

“I’m in a relationship right now — two and half years,” Nick says. “For me, I found someone that surprises me every day.”

And for Nick, love beats out any other addiction: “I’ve had problems with drugs and alcohol in the past…I don’t think the drug of alcohol or any other substance on this planet can compare to the addiction of love.”
