At first, it might seem ironic that the May 14 season finale of New Girl is titled “Elaine’s Big Day,” considering Elaine — played by Taylor Swift – actually appears on screen for a very small portion of the episode. But if you really break the finale down, it is a big one for Taylor, as well as every Swifty watching from home. HollywoodLife.com got an early look at Taylor’s brief appearance, and because we know how much you all hate waiting, we’ve got a few teases to tide you over.

Five Things To Expect From Taylor Swift On ‘New Girl’

1. Taylor (aka “Elaine”) makes her grand entrance about 7/10 of the way through the episode. I’m not sure how that works out time-wise, once commercials are factored in, so you might just want to tune in for the whole thing — in case you weren’t already doing so.

2. There is talk of ex-boyfriends, and writing songs about ex-boyfriends — but don’t expect to hear Harry Styles, or any of Taylor’s other famous exes, name-checked.

3. Elaine is obsessed with a certain character that I can’t name. Like, she’s creepily obsessed.

4. Taylor’s actually really funny! Not all stunt-casting goes according to plan, but her cameo is definitely more hit than miss.

5. Though Taylor is known for suffering heartbreak after heartbreak, we might finally see her get a happy ending tonight! (OK, her character, at least.)

Just like the inner workings of Taylor Swift‘s heart, the singer’s guest role on the season of finale of New Girl is shrouded in mystery. All we know, via showrunner Liz Meriwether and this first-look photo from Entertainment Weekly, is that Taylor’s playing someone‘s bitter ex-girlfriend named Elaine — and yes, she’s crashing Cece’s (Hannah Simone) wedding.

“I’m a huge fan of hers,” Liz tells the mag. “I was fully geeking out about meeting [Taylor]. I didn’t go to meet her right away because I kind of had to compose myself; there’s a 14-year-old girl inside of me. … She was quoting lines to us from the show. It was a really exciting night.”

The photo only shows Taylor interacting with Zooey Deschanel‘s Jess, but it sounds like “Elaine” will make the rounds before her guest stint is up.

“She came in and is really nice,” Jake Johnson tells the mag. ”It’s not an easy scene. There were probably 70 extras there — though I’m sure she performs to so much bigger [crowds] than that on a regular basis. She had, like, a little monologue and delivered it perfectly. Liz gave her alternative jokes and lines, she delivered them all perfectly.”

‘New Girl’ Season Finale: What Happens To Nick & Jess?

Fans are still reeling from Nick and Jess finally having sex this week, and although Liz promises the pair will attempt to DTR before the season is over, it doesn’t look like things will go too well for them on the finale.

Remember when Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) kissed back in January, and New Girl fans lost their friggin’ minds? Well, the couple’s huge moment on the April 30 episode pretty much blew that lip lock out of the water — and into the bedroom.

The episode revealed how the friends lost their virginities — shout-out to Teen Wolf‘s Dylan O’Brien for snagging Jess’s — but the real “holy crap” moment came from the events of the present, rather than the gang’s reflection on the past.

Nick & Jess Finally Have Sex On ‘New Girl’

Yes, Nick and Jess finally bumped uglies, though there was nothing ugly about it. In fact, the Twitterverse couldn’t have been more pleased — nor more squee-ful — with the way Jake and Zoey portrayed the highly anticipated act.

“We wanted it to feel honest and, honestly, hot,” showrunner Liz Meriwether tells Entertainment Weekly. “What’s fun is doing a genuinely sexy romance in a sitcom. That doesn’t always happen. … The characters themselves are such idiots when it comes to each other that it’s fun to figure out what new idiotic thing they will get up to.”

Liz also says it just felt logical for ‘Ness’ to hit the sheets at this point in the series.

“We were worried that it would come too soon, but we felt like, in reality, these characters would probably take that step,” Liz continues. “They’ve been back and forth and called it off, and basically they’re totally confused about how they feel about each other. We felt like they would realistically find themselves in that situation.”

What Will Happen To Nick & Jess In Season 3?

With only two episodes left on New Girl‘s second season, there’s a lot of relationship ‘stuff’ to wade through in a very short amount of time, but Liz says fans will get the answers they’re looking for — and it sounds like the showmance will have legs.

“I know they’re going to do something interesting in season 3,” Jake says. “Knowing the way Liz writes these characters, I’d be surprised if they just date and are happy.”

The kids of New Girl are huge Taylor fans we must remember, as Jess (Zooey Deschanel) once moaned to Nick (Jake Johnson) in heartache “I just wanted to listen to Taylor Swift alone,” while listening to “22.” Another time, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) tells CeCe he is going through a “Taylor Swift-like range of emotions.”

And fans of Taylor’s will know that this is not her first time playing a guest at a wedding! In 2010 Taylor played a guest at a wedding in a Saturday Night Live skit, where she was Andy Samburg‘s date. She should be a pro at this!

Well, kids, it finally happened. After 38 episodes of platonic room-mating, two stars of FOX’s New Girl locked lips on the show’s Jan. 29 episode — and it was actually pretty hot. So which of the eligible bachelors got to plant one on Jess (Zooey Deschanel)? Drumroll please…

Actually, they kissed twice, but only one of them had real passion behind it. During a game of “True American,” Nick and Jess ended up behind a curtain and engaged in a little kiss on the cheek. Jess tried to get a real kiss out of him — in the spirit of the game, of course — by telling him, “Let’s suck it up and French a little,” but something just didn’t feel right.

Jess’ boyfriend Sam (David Walton) even encouraged Nick to kiss his girlfriend — oh, Sam, you’re so oblivious — once again, in the spirit of the game.

And the more Jess pushed Nick to do it, the more awkward the situation became. When she finally told him she wanted to “get this over with,” he totally bugged out at her, saying, “No, not like this!”

The big moment finally came at the end of the episode, when Jess and Nick said goodnight to each other. As Jess started to walk away, Nick grabbed her arm and pulled her in for a crazy-hot, 13-second kiss. He even gave her an extra little kiss at the end which, to me, meant more than the big, exaggerated one.

Oh boy, I need a towel.

Zooey Deschannel revealed to HollywoodLife.com who her character Jess would hook up with and who would NOT hook up with in the second season of New Girl!

When asked about her character Jess’ relationship with Nick, and if the writers of New Girl were worried about the two of them getting romantically involved too soon, Zooey explained to reporters, “There’s no danger of that happening. They’re not getting together anytime soon. I think that they’re not ready for each other and nobody is going to push them together. So, I think Nick and Jess have a great chemistry and I work really well with Jake Johnson. I think it’s nice the sort of love-hate-but love relationship they have. They’re not going to throw them together or anything soon. They might tease it out.”

Zooey also said that the likelihood of her character Jess hooking up with the other guys, Schmidt and Wilson, was close to none.

“I don’t think so,” Zooey said. “I’m going to say no.”

Justin Bieber is the prince of SWAG, but he still knows when to ditch the swag and embrace being whipped by his lady. I doubt many people caught it, but during his interview with MTV May 3 after his “Boyfriend” music video premiere, the 18-year-old pop star admitted he loves Selena Gomez‘s favorite TV show.

After saying he doesn’t really watch TV, Justin back pedaled and said, “I like the New Girl.”

His interviewer kind of laughed him off and questioned why he — a teen boy — would like Zooey Deschanel‘s sitcom. “Have you seen that show?” Justin asked, passionately. “It’s such a good show!”

Not so coincidentally, Justin’s girlfriend is also obsessed with New Girl, and there’s no doubt she rubbed off on Justin.

Selena, 19, took to Instagram on Feb. 19 to post a photo of Zooey and write, “My current girl crush.. Well I’ve never had one before so she’s my first. #Twirly #Newgirl !!!!!”

It’s impressive Justin is so confident with himself, he doesn’t mind admitting he’s totally into the things Selena loves — even if they aren’t so swaggy. He really respects Selena and idolizes the ground on which she walks — without being too overbearing.
