In real life, Sofia Vergara is the mom to son Manolo, 20, but on the Jan. 16 episode of Modern Family, her character Gloria welcomed a brand-new baby boy — on the same day as her other son Manny’s (Rico Rodriguez) birthday! 

In the dramatic new episode, Gloria (Sofia) and her husband Jay (Ed O’Neill) throw a surprise party for Manny’s 14th birthday, but things go awry when Manny shows up earlier than planned –with a lady friend — and Gloria’s water breaks right as everyone sings “Happy Birthday” to Manny!

But Gloria is desperate not to have her baby on the same day as her son Manny, since she doesn’t want to steal his spotlight, and she refuses to leave. Jay has to drag her to the hospital!

Even though she is in labor and screaming in pain — she actually screams down at her lady parts for the baby to come out — she looks flawless. Typical!

But the Modern Family star wasn’t eager to welcome her new baby on the set of her hit TV show — or filming with a tiny baby when the time comes!

“It’s going to change for me, because then, actually my hours of shooting with Ed and Rico, they’re very fast, because we come prepared,” she said to Katie Couric on her show Katie.

“We do it fast — Ed is very professional, and Rico too, he’s like an adult. And now, with a baby, it’s going to be double because they cry, and then, ‘Bring the other one, bring the new one, the diaper’ – so we’re dreading it,” she revealed.

Well, we are excited about the baby — and to see Manny as a big bro!

Sarah Hyland is loving life — her character, Haley, on Modern Family is away at college and although the actress isn’t in the Oct. 24 Halloween special, she tells us she isn’t missing out. “Haley was probably at college chugging beer!”

Haley is mostly on the show through FaceTime this season, and Sarah tells us exclusively about the new dynamic.

“I am missing [filming with the cast] but I still get to see my cast members so it’s nice. But it’s also cool because when I do the FaceTime scenes, I can wear sweatpants and the wardrobe for Haley is only from the waist up!”

Speaking of wardrobe, Sarah told us about her new partnership with Nintendo!

“I partnered up with Nintendo for their Play As You Are campaign for the Nintendo 3DS, for their game Style Savvy: Trendsetters. It’s a great game that let’s girls of all kinds play it and express themselves by finding new fashions and owning a boutique and getting to know their customers. It’s a lot of fun! Anyone can play it! Granted it doesn’t have your actual clothing in the game but it has over 12,000 types of clothes and bags and shoes and accessories and stuff so it’s practically like having your closet in your Nintendo 3DS.”

And on her own personal style? Sarah says her “personal style is ever changing!” but she loves shopping at ”Urban Outfitters, Topshop, and Op has great clothes for beachwear and stuff!”

But Sarah doesn’t go to the mall too much! Although she admits she doesn’t get noticed “everywhere” she goes, she says she is always mistaken for another star — Mila Kunis!

During our recent chat, Lindsey told me to expect a little drama thrown into their relationship, and to keep an eye on newbie Shana (Aeriel Miranda). Hmm… What could she have to do with Emily and Paige?

90210

While Liam (Matt Lanter) may be content to assume “Vanessa” (Arielle Kebbel) really is gone for good — the boy is pretty, but not smart — I did a little digging to prove him wrong. And, spoiler alert: I was right! A source tells me we should expect Vanessa to return to 90210 on, or shortly after, the show’s 100th episode later this year.

666 Park Avenue

How much does Olivia (Vanessa Williams) know about the supernatural goings-on at The Drake? Has she been working with Gavin (Terry O’Quinn) all along to snatch up the residents’ souls? Fans will finally get some answers to those questions — and more — Oct. 28 on 666 Park Avenue‘s Halloween episode, ominously titled “A Crowd of Demons.” Oh, and remember Nona’s deadly vision of Jane (Rachael Taylor) from the pilot? Expect to see that recreated very soon.

Modern Family

We may not see as much of Haley (Sarah Hyland) on Modern Family now that she’s been shipped off to college, but trust me, she’s been busy. “I might get a new boyfriend,” she tells us, though she doesn’t rule out a surprise return from Haley’s ex-boyfriend Dylan (Reid Ewing). “Once you think Dylan is gone for good, he comes back. That’s been happening for four years now, so you never know.”

Nashville

Rayna (Connie Britton) might not have to worry about Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) sabotaging her career for very much longer! Juliette does something at the end of tonight’s episode that could have serious ramifications for her career and life in general. Without giving away too much, let’s just say I hope Juliette looks good in orange!

Is Lily going to be a flower girl — again? Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson created a fan frenzy Oct. 15 when he posted a picture of Mitchell and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) in what appeared to be a highly matrimonial pose. “It’s not what it looks like,” Jesse wrote on his WhoSay account. “Or is it? Guess you’ll have to wait to find out!”

As much as we’d all love for Cameron and Mitchell to say “I do,” I’m going to have to say “they don’t” for now. There’s clearly a wedding happening this season, but the outfits in this picture are hardly fitting for a pair of grooms.

We may live for drama here at HollywoodLife.com, but we also enjoy the occasional giggle fit, so we’re psyched to see our favorite comedies going head-to-head Sept. 23 at the 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. From the old standbys like 30 Rock and Modern Family to the newcomers like Veep and Girls, we can’t wait to see which series comes out on top!

This is one of the hardest Emmy decisions for the HollywoodLife.com staff. We really do love all six nominated shows — even if The Big Bang Theory hurts our heads sometimes — but our vote goes to Girls. It may not stand the best chance, as Modern Family pretty much owns the Emmys, but it was hands-down our biggest comedy obsession of the past year.
