Kim hasn’t even known Kris Humphries for a year — and they’re engaged! Will it last?

The Kardashian sisters don’t mess around when they find ‘the one.’ Middle sis Kim, 30, is following in 26-year-old Khloé‘s footsteps by becoming engaged to a guy she’s known for a nanosecond. The sexy reality has guys around the world weeping after officially becoming engaged to NBA player Kris Humphries May 18. But is their relationship moving too fast to last?

If you’ll remember correctly, Kim swore off of dating for a year after failed relationships with athletes Reggie Bush and Miles Austin. Her vow didn’t last long; she started seeing the 26-year-old New Jersey Nets forward in December and the rest, as they say, is history.

Although the two have only been dating for half a year, Kris’ proposal was pretty planned out, as if he had been thinking about it for some time. Prepare to ‘aw’: he was waiting for her on bended knee in her L.A. home with “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” written out in rose petals and presented her with a 20.5-carat diamond Lorraine Schwartz ring.

The couple is really rushing things now: according to Kim, they’re planning a summer wedding. As in, summer of 2011, not 2012. Why are they hurrying love, and can their quickie engagement/marriage actually work?

The Kardashians have apparently been blessed with some sort of magic that makes fast relationships last. No one ever thought Khloé and hubby Lamar Odom, who got engaged within a month of knowing each other, would last, and nearly two years later they’re still together and happier than ever. So do Kim and Kris have a shot at lasting love? Apparently.

But, as I always say, there are exceptions, and there are rules. The Kardashian sisters are exceptions; the rest of us are the rule. Rushing headfirst into a marriage when you know next to nothing about the groom is just asking for trouble. Sure, you’re in love, but how do you know you can live together without throttling one another? How do you know if there are things about one another that you won’t learn to hate in the long run?

Yes, love at first sight does exist — just make sure you can have a real relationship with your fantasy man before you say ‘I do.’

What happened to Kim’s strict ‘no dating for a year rule?’ Oh yeah, his name is Kris Humphries

Kim Kardashian made a very firm pre-New Year’s resolution last year: she swore up and down that she was abstaining from men for a year after failed relationships with football players Reggie Bush and Miles Austin. However, a half year later she’s “in love” with basketball star Kris Humphries, and happily admits that love appeared when she wasn’t looking. Could this happen to you?

“I think for as much as you can plan for anything, you can’t fight love. There’s just no way around it,” the 30-year-old reality star told My Fox NY. “I was single long enough though.”

Kim even says that she’d move to NYC — Kris currently plays for the New Jersey Nets — to be closer to her man. “I would love to [move here],” she said. “I love New York City. There’s nothing like the energy here. The boyfriend is here too so that makes it easy. That’s probably a big excuse why I come. I have been kind of keeping my eyes open.”

And although Kris hasn’t proposed yet (it has only been a few months, after all), the brunette beauty says she now knows not to hurry love and has taken the attitude that whatever happens, happens. “He hasn’t [asked me to marry him yet]. We’ve been dating six months now and I’m having so much fun,” she said. “I’d hope that I wouldn’t know when that’s going to happen. I can’t predict the future. I have no idea.”

It’s true that those who seem to be looking for love the most never find it, and a reason could be that you’re putting too much pressure on yourself and on the situation. You’re setting unreasonable goals and not letting life — and love — take its natural course. Having a boyfriend may seem like the most important thing in the world, but until you’re happy with who you are, and happy being alone, my prediction is that the right guy won’t be coming along. And who wants Mr. OK For Right Now? You deserve better.

I would like to think that Kim went into her ‘no dating for a year’ rule with the best of intentions, and that she genuinely planned on seeing it through instead of just blowing hot air. Who knows? Whatever she did worked. I’ll leave you again with her quote of the day — and I hope you believe it: “You can’t fight love.”

It’s NBA All-Star weekend in LA and athletes are flocking into town, including both of Kim Kardashian’s exes and her current boyfriend … how will she handle it?

NBA All-Star weekend, for some people, conjures up images of basketball players and sports parties. For us, it conjures up an image of Kim Kardashian running into Reggie Bush and/or Miles Austin while out with Kris Humphries. Tomato, tomahto. The reality star’s boyfriend is attending two sports parties this weekend, and her exes Reggie and Miles are in town partying it up as well. Kim is currently in LA — so is she about to have a massively awkward encounter?

Kris and Miles are both confirmed to attend the ESPN party tonight held at My House in Hollywood. At the same time, Khloe and Lamar Odom are hosting a party in Club Nokia at LA Live. Will Kim chose her sister or her boyfriend? Or both?

Kim’s been all about Kris lately so it wouldn’t be surprising if she made an appearance at ESPN, a party Reggie could very well go to with his fellow NFL friends. This could mean Kim would be at the same party as her boyfriend and TWO of her exes!

Kris is hosting his own event on Sunday for Ciroc Vodka, and HollywoodLife.com can exclusively confirm Kim will be attending! A source tells us, “Kim is definitely planning on going to Kris’s party. She’s not publicly releasing the information because she wants to make it all about him.”

How cute is it that they will have time to spend together despite their busy schedules? It’s not often that NBA stars come out for All-Star weekend if they aren’t chosen for the game, so it is sweet of Kris to push any hesitation aside in the name of his girlfriend.

Although Reggie has a place in LA and many opportunities to run into his ex, this weekend there is more of a chance this will happen. He’s already committed to a few All-Star events and will be partying in the same social circles as Kim and her new boyfriend. Do you think it will be weird for the three of them to meet? Kim Kardashian went to dinner with her boyfriend Kris Humphries at STK in New York City on Feb. 5 to celebrate his birthday, and it must be one of her favorite hot spots — she’s been spotted there with another man!

Kim, 30, went to the same restaurant with her ex-boyfriend Miles Austin in June 2010 to celebrate his birthday.

“Kim threw a birthday dinner for Kris in one of the private rooms,” a witness told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “Kim and Kris shared their dinner.”

12 guests, including Kris’ parents, attended the soiree. Sadly none of Kim’s family members were able to make it.

“She spent a good hour speaking with his parents directly,” the source explained. They were talking about “get to know you type stuff like, ‘This is who I am and what I’m about.’”

Another source added that this seemed to be the first time that Kim had met his parents. “She didn’t seem nervous,” confirmed the witness. “It was all very relaxed.”

In addition to his birthday dinner, Kim was also spotted grabbing Ecoya’s Pink Champagne scented Love Candle for her basketball beau.

Kim’s glamorous lifestyle and good looks may seem daunting to some guys, but Kim knows that when she finds the right one, he won’t be easily scared off!

Kim and Kourtney Kardashian made an appearance on Live! With Regis and Kelly Jan. 19, and Kim dished on the details of her dating life! The reality star, who has been somewhat unlucky in love as of late, talked about how the cameras get in the way of her meeting somebody special. Kim has lost relationships before because the guy didn’t like the media attention surrounding them – like what happened with Miles Austin. But she doesn’t seem to be too worried about it. When Kelly commented that it might be hard for Kim to meet guys because she’s intimidating, Kim said, “The right man will not be intimidated.”

She added that it is definitely easier for her to meet a man when she isn’t filming her reality show. “I found that when I’m dating on the show, it just doesn’t seem to work out. Maybe the moments aren’t there, or it’s just off,” Kim said. “That’s why I love when we’re not filming, that’s usually when I meet someone.”

And when a guy is shown with Kim on TV, she doesn’t take the situation lightly. Things need to be relatively serious before he gets on camera with her. She said, “When I feel like it’s worth it and they’re someone special to me, then I introduce them on the show.”

Although she’s single right now, Kim knows what she wants: “Someone that can make me laugh… someone that is gorgeous,” she told Regis and Kelly. “You can’t really explain it, it just has to be a feeling.”

But Kim did manage to add yet another person to her growing Twitter followers list (right now at 5,937,733!) – Regis Philbin! When Regis told the girls that he had just started tweeting, Kim asked, “Will you follow me?” He agreed and Kim promised to follow him back!

Is it a good idea to take a breather from men when you’re as unlucky in love as Kim Kardashian is?

Three failed relationships in a one year period is bound to make anyone a little gun shy about getting involved again, but Kim Kardashian is really taking things to the extreme with her latest plan: she’s vowed to remain single for an entire year! But can she actually do it, and, more to the point, is this idea completely insane?

In all honesty, I think Kim‘s idea is fantastic — and completely undoable. Why NOT take a year off from men to focus on the most important thing in your world: YOU? In that year perhaps you’ll learn to ski or take up bungee jumping or travel the world. You may be able to ‘find yourself’, so to speak, so that when that perfect guy comes along, you’re ready.

Although Kim may have thought she was ready to settle down at the age of 30, she’s not. She’s got a thriving career, a plethora of TV appearances and promotional activities and is traveling nonstop for work, not pleasure. She doesn’t have time to be in a committed relationship, as she said on the Rachel Ray Show Thursday, so taking a year off from dating wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for her. But can she do it? Nah. Kim’s a lover, and when every man on the world has his eye on you, it’s nearly impossible to turn them all down.

Plus, the Kardashian Konfidential star has made this kind of blanket statement before — after breaking up with Reggie Bush but before her relationships with Miles Austin and Gabriel Aubrey, mind you — so we know she’s not the best at sticking to her goals…

In theory, I think this is a great idea. Would I be able to do it? Heck, no — but I have as little willpower as Kim does. Should you try this at home? If you’ve got something to prove and you’re ready to do YOU for a change, go for it…and tell me how you feel after your man-free year!
