Donald Trump used one of R.E.M.’s songs as his walk on music during a recent rally– but he didn’t bother telling R.E.M.! Turns out, the band’s frontman, Michael Stipe, is not a Trump supporter and he’s totally blasting the GOP candidate on Twitter!
Walking onto the stage at a rally in Washington on Sept. 9, Donald Trump, 69, opted for a perhaps tongue and cheek song selection, using R.E.M.‘s classic 80s hit, “It’s the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine).” The irony here is that the rally was to actually an effort to “Stop the Iran Deal,” a controversial stance, and one which REM’s lead singer Michael Stipe, 55, may not agree with considering the choice words he had for Trump following the use of his song. Check out his furious tweets!
After 31 years and 25 million albums sold, the band decides to call it a day!
Classic alternative rock group R.E.M. has split up — and we’re super-sad!
