Smash is back in the spotlight– literally! The NBC drama, which depicted the creation of a musical based upon the life of Marilyn Monroe called Bombshell, has recently found new life since its cancellation in 2013. On June 22, the series’ producers announced that they would in fact be moving forward with plans to put Bombshell on the stage in a full-scale production, and no one is more excited about that than Smash star Megan Hilty. The talented gal chatted with us EXCLUSIVELY about whether she’d like to be involved in the stage production, as well as her relationship with former costar Katharine McPhee!
Following its one night only concert, could a full blown Broadway production of ‘Bombshell,’ the musical within ‘Smash,’ actually be coming together? We’ve got the deets!
Fade in on a girl… Who is still totally obsessed with Smash. On June 8, Bombshell, the musical about Marilyn Monroe which was at the epicenter of NBC’s ill-fated series, held a one night only concert in NYC. Having sold out in presale before tickets even went on sale, the show (which reunited Megan Hilty, Katharine McPhee and the rest of the cast) was considered a massive success. So, naturally, the next step is to bring it to Broadway for real, right?
You guys can still be our stars! ‘Smash’ stars Megan Hilty & Katharine McPhee reunited to once again bring Marilyn Monroe to the Broadway stage and we may combust. Watch video of the two golden throated gals right now!
RIP Smash. On June 8, Megan Hilty, Katharine McPhee and the rest of the cast of NBC’s short-lived Broadway series reunited for a concert to benefit The Actors Fund. However, this wasn’t just any concert. The one-night only event was billed as Bombshell live, also known as the show within the show about the life of Marilyn Monroe. The ladies sang all of the series’ biggest hits including, “Let Me Be Your Star,” “The National Pastime,” and, duh, “Don’t Forget Me.” Check out some of the clips if you think your musical-theater loving heart can handle it.
Christmas came early! ‘Bombshell,’ a new musical inspired by the NBC series, ‘Smash,’ is coming to Broadway. It’s time to break out your jazz hands!

NBC lowered the curtains on Smash for the final time May 26, with a two-hour series finale that — in my mind — neatly wrapped up two seasons’ worth of on- and off-stage drama. And as the words of the final song echoed, the show gave us a big finish, but kept us wanting more.
The ladies of ‘Smash’ look no less than smashing on their January 11 cover of ‘Entertainment Weekly.’ They each easily pull off their classy and sassy Old Hollywood hair and makeup. Who do YOU think looks best in this retro glam look? Vote!
Jennifer Hudson, 31, is joining gorgeous singers Katharine McPhee, 28, and Megan Hilty, 31, in the cast of Smash, and she flawlessly blends in to the show’s glamorous Broadway diva style. Each of these hot gals is giving Marilyn Monroe’s iconic style a try- and pulling it off seamlessly.
In a recent interview with Allure The Broadway and Smash star reveals she’s a beauty product junkie–read on to find out her must haves.
Megan Hilty, 31, is a beauty fanatic. “I have to confess, I look for anything that has that little Allure sticker on it. I’m like, ‘Yup! Ok! Put it in my basket.’ I love trying new things all the time. I live on top of a Sephora so it’s bad,” she says.
Spoiler alert! A shocking on-set photo reveals a potential twist for Karen & Ivy.
Karen (Katharine McPhee) may have nabbed the lead role in Bombshell‘s out-of-town tryouts, but when the musical finally comes to Broadway, there could be a very different face donning that awful Marilyn Monroe wig. Smash is currently filming its second season, and HollywoodLife.com snapped a photo — it’s filming two feet from our NYC office — that implies two major shakeups for Bombshell.
Plus, Katharine gushes over working with Jennifer Hudson, who joins the NBC musical in its second season.
If you thought Karen (Katharine McPhee) scoring the lead role in Bombshell would effectively put an end to rivalry with Ivy (Megan Hilty) on Smash, think again! “There will definitely still be rivalry,” Katharine told HollywoodLife.com at the sixth anniversary benefit for Malaria No More on Nov. 8 in NYC. “We’ll see them pitted against each other in the future.”
How do you feel about Ivy after last night’s finale? Megan gives HollywoodLife.com the scoop on what’s to come.
Between (briefly) battling drug addiction, getting her heart broken and watching her dream role go to another girl, Megan Hilty‘s Ivy had a rough go of it on the first season of Smash — and her drama culminated on the May 14 season finale, which ended with her about to down an entire bottle of pills. Fortunately, Megan assures HollywoodLife.com that Ivy’s not going anywhere. In fact, she’s got big dreams for the blonde bombshell in season two!
A star is born! Do you think the right girl was chosen?
Not only was the May 14 season finale of Smash the best episode since its critically acclaimed pilot, but it also served to reinforce a few truths I’ve come to accept during the course of the season: Ellis (Jaime Cepero) sucks, Dev (Raza Jaffrey) is a douche, Ivy (Megan Hilty) is chemically imbalanced, and Karen (Katharine McPhee) — well, Karen is a star!
