The spring finale of Jane By Design was a night of ups and downs for our boy Billy (Nick Roux). It began with him getting bailed out of jail and sentenced to several months at a youth detention facility, but ended with the jaw-dropping confession we’ve waited 10 long weeks to hear. So are he and Jane (Erica Dasher) going to live happily ever after? Yeah, right. Like it would ever be that easy.

Billy’s confession — curiously inspired by his hot-yet-troubled brother Tommy — was interrupted by Jane’s hot-yet-misguided co-worker Jeremy (Rowly Dennis), who was just about tell Jane the same thing before he himself was interrupted by a text message from Gray’s (Andie MacDowell) hot-yet-evil ex-husband Beau. Oh, did I mention that Jeremy has been leaking Donovan Decker’s designs to Beau this whole time? Because he has. And he sucks.

Unfortunately it was India (India de Beaufort) who took the fall for Jeremy, as Jane accused her of stealing the company’s look book, just like she stole Jane’s wedding sketches. It made sense at the time — hence Gray firing her on the spot — but the minute we found out India was innocent, I wanted to reach through the TV and give her a hug. I know, I know. She bites. But that’s how badly I felt!

And what of Prince Dreamy himself, Nick Fadden (Matthew Atkinson)? He tried his best to explain his kiss with Lulu (Meagan Tandy), but no matter how he spun it, the fact remained: He still kissed Lulu. And Jane, despite her own questionable judgment at times, couldn’t forgive him.

Additional gold stars go to Jane’s big brother Ben (David Clayton Rogers), who did three awesome things this week: He taught sex ed using Barbie dolls, he stood up for Billy in court, and most importantly, he allowed Jane to continue working at Donovan Decker. It turns out he’s still baby bunny-level adorable, even when he’s not romancing Rita.

Jane (Erica Dasher) had a good run keeping up her double life, but we all knew her big secret had to come out eventually — and that’s exactly what happened on the Feb. 28 episode of Jane By Design when Ben (David Clayton Rogers) stumbled on some old pictures of Jane on her recent trip to Paris. But will he be cool with everything, or has our little fashionista reached the end of her runway?

We’ll have to wait until next week’s big finale to find that out, so let’s just focus on this week’s shenanigans for now.

Jane tagged along with India (India de Beaufort) on a little business trip to business trip to Beverly Hills — and by “tagged along” I mean “spied for Gray” — and discovered she was secretly meeting with Gray’s (Andie MacDowell) husband! It turns out he was trying to court her for a new job, but she claimed she turned him down. Color me skeptical, but I have a feeling she’s not telling the whole truth.

Meanwhile, the rest of the people in Jane’s life went on a camping trip — but it wasn’t quite the Kumbaya-fest they were expecting.

Lulu (Meagan Tandy) demanded that Billy (Nick Roux) officially choose her over Jane, and when he couldn’t, she kissed Nick (Matthew Atkinson)! Granted, this was after India picked up Jane’s phone and gave Nick the impression that Jane was sleeping with some smooth-talking rando — but that’s still no excuse for them kissing. If Lulu and Nick were both willing to jump ship that quickly, maybe neither one of them was fully invested in their relationships in the first place.

And things went from crappy to crap-tastic for Billy when he got arrested trying to help his brother Tommy out of a jam.

At least Ben had a good time on the school camping trip. Not only did he learn how to properly roast a marshmallow, but he also finally landed a kiss with Rita (Smith Cho.) Those two might be the most adorable thing on this show — and that’s saying a lot.

My Jane By Design recaps typically include a list of all the ways that Jane (Erica Dasher) ruined the lives of her friends and family on any given week — but believe it or not, the Feb. 21 episode actually found our plucky little fashionista using her powers for good. Not only did she bring Nick (Matthew Atkinson) and Billy (Nick Roux) closer together, but she also saved Jeremy’s (Rowly Dennis) job! Oh, and did I mention she took down India (India de Beaufort) in the process?

When a snooty socialite (Autumn Reeser) demanded that Donovan Decker redesign her wedding dress in 24 hours, Jeremy lost his mind — and nearly lost his job along with it. But thanks to Jane’s brilliant new design idea, the team was able to whip up the perfect replacement just in time. India tried to steal credit for Jane’s sketch, but it didn’t take long for the truth to come out.

Meanwhile, Nick and Billy bonded over nachos on what was supposed to be a group outing with Jane. And it turns out that Paula Abdul song was on to something, because Nick and Billy — who seemed to be opposites — totally attracted. And all it took was a bar fight with three dudes named Adam!

In the episode’s final moments, Jeremy finally kicked India to the curb for what she did to Jane, sending her straight into the waiting arms of a mystery man named Richard. (You’d think this would be the part where I theorize that “Richard” is actually Jane’s mom in disguise, but you’d be wrong. Maybe)

In the end, not only did the socialite love Jane’s wedding dress, but she even made it Nick’s baseball game in time. For once, I’ve got to say I fully support Jane Quimby. She got the job done and got the guy — and she did it all on her own.

Jane Quimby (Erica Dasher) may think she’s got her double life under control on Jane By Design, but it sounds like her dream of working in the fashion industry is about to become a full-on nightmare. “People are starting to catch on, and there’s a big fight that coming up with a couple of the guys,” Erica told HollywoodLife.com on Feb. 15 at the Nanette Lepore show during New York Fashion Week.

And speaking of guys, we couldn’t help but ask Erica what’s coming up for Jane and Nick (Matthew Atkinson). As it turns out, the prognosis is grim.

“Because she’s leading this double life and can’t let him in, he starts to question things,” Erica told us. “There are plenty of trust issues that come up.”

India de Beaufort was also on hand to give us a little peek into India’s future at Donovan Decker, and it sounds like she’s becoming quite the little cat burglar.

“She’s a manipulative little thief,” India admitted. “She’s always trying to find ways to get ahead. She may show regret in this case, but she does it anyway.”

As if people weren’t suspicious enough of India!

Jane’s (Erica Dasher) two world collided in a big way on the Feb. 7 episode of Jane By Design when India (India de Beaufort) and Jeremy (Rowly Dennis) showed up at her school, determined to figure out her big secret. And while India may remain completely clueless after her little investigation, Jeremy is now all kinds of suspicious.

Meanwhile, in an attempt to stop people from judging his unique look, Billy (Nick Roux) ditched his faux-hawk and skinny jeans for a new style that Jane described as “preppy/douchey.” As much as I support people expressing themselves through fashion, I really hope he doesn’t go back. He looked damn good this week.

Speaking of looking damn good, Nick (Matthew Atkinson) finally told Jane that he liked her, sealing the deal with a kiss.

As a side note, I have to kid Jane some major kudos. She managed to solve her own problems this week without completely taking advantage of Billy and Ben (David Clayton Rogers). Maybe she’s not such a life ruiner after all!
