The Olsen twins’ sister Elizabeth stars in new film ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene’ and has everybody talking about her stellar acting skills!

Elizabeth Olsen‘s performance in Martha Marcy May Marlene was the talk of Sundance this year and now we can see why! Mary-Kate and Ashley‘s sister gives a chilling portrayal of a girl who escapes an abusive cult but then must deal with the psychological consequences. Elizabeth blows us away in this trailer!

The thriller is written and directed by Sean Durkin and also stars John Hawkes as the cult leader, Sarah Paulson as Elizabeth’s on-screen sister and Hugh Dancy as her sister’s husband. The haunting trailer shows a damaged Martha (Elizabeth) trying to repair her life and attempting to distinguish her nightmares from reality.

Elizabeth has spent years studying acting, graduating from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and the Atlantic Theater Company Acting School, and it shows. Next up is Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding with Chace Crawford and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which she has already finished filming.

If you caught yourself doing a double-take trying to figure out if the girl in the photo is Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsen, take another look! While 21-year-old Elizabeth Olsen looks like a spitting image of her very famous older sisters, in reality, she’s definitely her own person! In the current New Hollywood issue of V magazine, the young starlet was nominated by sexy Gossip Girl stud and co-star Chace Crawford for the New Ingenue role — and she is currently taking Sundance by storm!

Rather than rise to fame on the coattails of her sister’s, Elizabeth spent years studying acting with the Atlantic Theater Company and working as an understudy. “I love the Atlantic Theater Company,” she told the mag, before discussing work on her upcoming flick, Peace, Love & Misunderstanding, in which she co-stars with Jane Fonda and Chace Crawford. The starlet is currently enrolled in NYU, where she studies acting — but she also played volleyball and danced growing up, opting to wait before pursuing acting professionally. She wanted to wait “until [she] felt confident and comfortable.”

The actress is now receiving rave reviews for not one, but two leading roles at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. She plays a young woman descending into madness in the horror film Silent House and her other film, Martha Marcy May Marlene, is already an early favorite for the Grand Jury prize — largely on the strength of her amazing performance. In the pic, Elizabeth plays a young woman returning to her sister’s home (Sarah Paulson) after years in an abusive, and increasingly horrifying, cult. The Case of Thorn Mansion this is not.

On a separate (and lighter) note, Elizabeth, along with brother James, is the namesake of sister Ashley and Mary Kate’s line Elizabeth & James.
