Although Britney Spears is still under a conservatorship (which is responsible for her finances and personal needs), she did NOT have to seek permission to exchange wedding vows.

Los Angeles family attorney Sheila Foreman tells HollywoodLife.com, “Britney
could remarry without court permission and her marriage in and of itself would not change the status of her conservatorship. To change the conservatorship, she would need to go to court and establish that she is capable to handle her affairs.”

Forman explains, “Under Calif. law, the best interest of the children are paramount in deciding custody issues. Providing a stable home life is one factor a judge would consider. Britney’s new marriage might provide grounds for the court to revisit the current custody arrangement. A hearing in family court would be required to determine that.”

Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez were not a right fit on both of their accounts. However, despite knowing this, the 42-year-old singer seems to have changed his mind and is now reportedly begging his soon-to-be-ex to take him back. Although she’s spoken about self love and knows he isn’t ‘the one’, should she take him back — and should you go back a guy you know isn’t completely right?

The 42-year-old singer was reportedly controlling over J. Lo and  jealous of her career, but according to Us Weekly, he wants her back and is even attempting to prolong their inevitable divorce.

“[Marc's] mood shifts from blaming her to begging her to take him back to telling her she is destroying his life,” a source close to the American Idol judge told the tabloid.

The insider added, “He’s being difficult on every little point…He wants to prolong things so she reconsiders.”

Jennifer, also 42, is reportedly “happy” and “surrounded by love” although she dislikes dealing with her ex and his mood swings. Having realized that Marc was not the right man for her, she’s decided to move on, love herself and get on with her life.

“To understand that a person is not good for you, or that the person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself — if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me. I love myself enough to walk away from that now,” J. Lo told Vanity Fair. “Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves.”

It takes a lot of strength and self-confidence to not take back a man you’ve loved, and to walk away from a relationship that isn’t right for you.

Although I think J. Lo is making a smart move for herself, not every situation is the same. Marc was controlling, they couldn’t stop fighting and she knew it wasn’t right.

But sometimes the easiest decision isn’t the right one. If you’ve truly been in love and miscommunication is getting in the way of your relationship feeling right, then work on it. Don’t walk away: fight.

If a guy is making you feel badly about yourself, he’s obviously not the one for you. But do assess your situation before making a final decision.

At the end of the day, if he’s making you feel more miserable than happy, then you should let him go – even if he’s begging for you to come back on his hands and knees. Just because someone wants you that badly doesn’t mean you have to want him back.

Don’t freak out quite yet, HollywoodLifers — Miley Cyrus and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth aren’t engaged yet. However, there’s been talk that the two are so happily in love that marriage might be in their imminent future. Keep in mind, though, that the two have had a rocky relationship over the past two years. If you were in their shoes, would getting engaged really be the best idea?

Miley, 18, and Liam, 21, have broken up only to get back together a few times over the past two years, but they are most definitely back on right now. In fact, they’re playing one big happy family with her mom, Tish, and his parents in Australia.

“She sent a private helicopter to pick [Liam's parents] up from their holiday home on Philip Island, and they sat next to her mom, Tish,” a source close to Miley tells Star magazine. “Miley was nervous because she didn’t want the Hemsworths to think her act was too racy , but they had a ball.”

Another friend claims the pair is already thinking about marriage! “They’re hanging out like one big happy family,” the pal says. “Everyone wonders when Miley and Liam will take the next step and get engaged!”

Not that this is definitely the case —  and after the toll her parents’ divorce is taking on her, I’d assume marriage would be the last thing on Miley’s mind — but if it were, is getting engaged the solution?

I’m sure you all know the answer to this one. When something is broken, or runs hot and cold, it isn’t necessarily the right thing. Couples reconnect because they genuinely do love one another (which is different from being in love, mind you) or because they have an unhealthy addiction to one another. Although Miley and Liam do seem to be having a good moment at present, how long will it last?

An engagement ring is not a Bandaid. It’s just going to make your love life a lot more complicated if you and your hot & cold boyfriend do break up again. A diamond might be a girl’s best friend, but do you really want a BFF who might potentially go away at any given moment?

Teen Mom star Maci Bookout revealed to Us Weekly that she can’t wait to have a baby with beau Kyle King — and she wants to get pregnant sooner rather than later so that her son Bentley, 2, has a sibling close in age! Find out if she wants a boy or a girl! 

“I’m dying to have Kyle’s child,” she tells Us Weekly. “The way he is as a father is just amazing, and Bentley’s not even his kid. I’m just like, ‘Oh, my God, let’s have a baby! I want to see my child and your child.”

But if she could have it her way, Maci wouldn’t want to add another boy to her brood — Kyle, 22, and Bentley are already so close and she wants to share that bond with a baby GIRL! And she’ll keep trying until she gets one…

“I really want to have a girl. The clothes are so much cuter!” she admits. “I told Kyle that if the next one is a girl, we don’t necessarily have to try again, but if we have a boy, I want to try for a girl and maybe one more time after that.”

And if you think this baby talk sounds too serious for 19-year-old single mom, think again. She’s not only talking babies, she’s talking marriage!

“I want Bentley to have a sibling close in age so they can play together, but I can’t have another baby until I get married,” she confesses, adding, “In my dreamworld, I’d rather get married sooner than later.”

But don’t assume she’s tying the knot with Kyle just because she wants a baby — Maci is fully committed to their relationship and knows it will work out between them.

“We just care about each other more than Ryan [Edwards] and I did, and we always put the other person before ourselves,” Maci says. “I’d rather hang out with him than anybody else. He’s my best friend.”

Hugh Hefner, 85, is pining for his ex-flame now that his engagement to much younger girlfriend Crystal Harris, 26, has been called off. She got cold feet just days before her $1 million wedding to the eternal playboy!

Or is Kim being wise to throw her millions away?

Neither Kim Kardashian nor her gorgeous new NBA star player fiance are hurting for cash; she’s worth $35 million while he has an estimated $8 million fortune. But will the two be hurting their chances for lasting love by coldly signing a pre-nuptial agreement?

Kim, 30, and Kris, definitely need to protect their massive fortunes. A pre-nup does sound like the easiest way to do so, especially because they’ve decided to tie the knot after a mere six months of dating. However, the idea of forming a hard, emotionless business agreement when you’re supposed to be in love just seems wrong to me.

Although it is clearly their lawyers and family members who feel the need to make sure both parties are protected, the couple is smack in the middle of a major money decision that will affect them both. It’s smart to sign a pre-nup, but doing so could cause problems in their relationship.

By saying that a pre-nup is necessary, it’s already hurting their chances of lasting. The idea behind this kind of pact is that they’re both defended against losing their moolah in a divorce, but the irony is that by bringing divorce into the equation before the nuptials have even occurred, it’s creating a divide between the two.

Who wants to think a divorce is imminent before the wedding has even happened? No one.

For Kim and Kris, this makes sense. They’ve known each other a nanosecond and could easily decide two years down the line that they just weren’t MFEO (made for each other). But should you sign a pre-nup? Not unless you’re certain your marriage will fail or one of your is exceedingly rich.

But again — if you’re certain your marriage won’t work, why get hitched at all?

Kim hasn’t even known Kris Humphries for a year — and they’re engaged! Will it last?

The Kardashian sisters don’t mess around when they find ‘the one.’ Middle sis Kim, 30, is following in 26-year-old Khloé‘s footsteps by becoming engaged to a guy she’s known for a nanosecond. The sexy reality has guys around the world weeping after officially becoming engaged to NBA player Kris Humphries May 18. But is their relationship moving too fast to last?

Although the two have only been dating for half a year, Kris’ proposal was pretty planned out, as if he had been thinking about it for some time. Prepare to ‘aw’: he was waiting for her on bended knee in her L.A. home with “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” written out in rose petals and presented her with a 20.5-carat diamond Lorraine Schwartz ring.

The couple is really rushing things now: according to Kim, they’re planning a summer wedding. As in, summer of 2011, not 2012. Why are they hurrying love, and can their quickie engagement/marriage actually work?

The Kardashians have apparently been blessed with some sort of magic that makes fast relationships last. No one ever thought Khloé and hubby Lamar Odom, who got engaged within a month of knowing each other, would last, and nearly two years later they’re still together and happier than ever. So do Kim and Kris have a shot at lasting love? Apparently.

But, as I always say, there are exceptions, and there are rules. The Kardashian sisters are exceptions; the rest of us are the rule. Rushing headfirst into a marriage when you know next to nothing about the groom is just asking for trouble. Sure, you’re in love, but how do you know you can live together without throttling one another? How do you know if there are things about one another that you won’t learn to hate in the long run?

Yes, love at first sight does exist — just make sure you can have a real relationship with your fantasy man before you say ‘I do.’
