The wife of the disgraced former South Carolina governor told HollywoodLIfe.com exclusively that Anthony Weiner’s wife needs to look out for herself. Here’s her advice!

When asked what she would say to Huma Abedin, Sanford, 48, who filed for divorce in 2009 after 20 years of marriage when it was revealed that her then-husband was carrying on an affair with an Argentinian woman, told HollywoodLife.com on Wednesday, “My heart goes out to all women involved in similar circumstances.”

Sanford, who wrote about her own personal journey in her 2010 memoir “Staying True,” adds,  “My advice for a spouse would be…in terms of the process I went through in dealing with my own situation. Surround yourself with close friends and family and rely deeply on your faith. Reconnect with the core of your own being and stay true to your best self and your highest values. Take care of yourself and be there for your children while you take the time necessary to make the decisions that are right for you and for your family.”

And just as important is to block out the relentless coverage in the media. Says Sanford, “Ignore the press circus. It will take time to heal but time helps.”

Would you marry a man who refused to include vows of fidelity in your wedding ceremony? That’s what Jenny Sanford shockingly revealed happened in her autobiography Staying True, released Feb. 5. The 47-year-old wife of ex-South Carolina governor Mark Sanford recounted how in the days leading up to their wedding, she “questioned” his reluctance, but then “moved past it.”

And look how that turned out: Jenny was publicly humiliated when Mark was outed in June 2009 for cheating on Jenny with a Maria Belen Shapur, whom he visited in Argentina using taxpayer money.

We can’t believe that a smart, successful woman like Jenny could get herself in such a jam! How could you marry someone who wouldn’t promise to be faithful from the get-go?
