Six days after Bethenny Frankel announced she was separating from husband Jason Hoppy, fellow Bravo star Lynne Curtin, formerly of The Real Housewives of Orange County, filed for divorce from her husband of 22 years, Frank Curtin.

Lynne cited “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce documents and asked a judge to award her spousal support, according to TMZ.

Lynne announced their separation in May 2012. “I love Frank but it was time to go out on my own,” she told Radar Online. “Who knows what the future holds, but I’m looking forward to doing the things that I want to do.”

At the time, Frank, 57, told the Orange County Register, “I’m not a willing participant in this. It hurts to even think about it or talk about it. Call me old-fashioned, but I take my vows very seriously.”

Lynne and Frank were married in 1990 — they have two daughters, Raquel, 24, and Alexa, 21.

Lynne, 56, appeared on seasons four and five of RHOOC. The couple’s financial problems were the centerpoint to their storyline — they were filmed being served with an eviction notice.

Are you feeling the pinch of the poor economy? The R.H.O.C. ladies are right there with you … only they’re coping with it a tad bit differently.

Looks like the terrible economy is hitting everyone, even Orange County’s elite, who have made to make some – er – difficult sacrifices and cutbacks to their posh lifestyles.

Fans of the Real Housewives of Orange County can definitely identify with their favorite California girls this season, because the ladies have realized how tough pinching pennies can really be. Tamra Barney broke down when she had to put her house up for sale, while Lynne Curtin also got sad when she had to move out of her posh Laguna Beach abode … and into a smaller (yet still gorgeous) place. Jeana Keough even shopped at (gasp!) budget friendly H&M instead of high-end boutiques.

“Downsizing is taking place, there’s no doubt about that,” Gary Watts, a real estate economist in Orange County, tells HollywoodLife.com. “Even those who have businesses that are doing well, they’re not living the opulent lives that they used to because they’re being careful.”

Watts, who’s worked on several homes in the Coto de Caza community where the Real Housewives of O.C. is frequently filmed, says many people in the O.C. community are leaving their 7,000 sq. feet home for more modest (at least in their eyes!) 4,000 sq. feet places, not eating out as much and “not getting a new Mercedes every two years.” Instead, they’re opting for more reasonably priced rides.

While there’s a select group of people who are still well off, Watts says that for the most part, all of Orange County got the wake up call about the plummeting market and know they’ve got to be a bit smarter with their money.

Unfortunately for reality TV stars, “these desperate housewives are going to still be desperate a bit longer,” Watts, who works Impact Real Estate, predicts.

What have you done to deal during these tough times?

We certainly did a few double takes when we heard Real Housewives of the O.C. star Lynne Curtin and her 19-year-old daughter Raquel bonded by getting some mother-daughter plastic surgery. One eyelift and one nose job later, the family members seem more bonded than ever, but surely there are easier ways to say “I love you” than by going under the knife?

“I’m concerned that, because Lynne is on a reality show, it’s encouraging her daughter to put a lot of emphasis and priority on her looks. She’s going to the extreme of having surgery and not accepting herself for who she is,” Rhonda Shindling, relationship expert and host of Contact Radio’s Help Me Rhonda, tells HollywoodLife.com. “She comes from a family where beauty is encouraged. This may be only the beginning.”

Shindling adds that there ARE other ways for Lynne and Raquel to be closer. “There are other ways to bond than having surgery and recovering together! Why don’t they just go shopping together?”

But aside from her worries, our expert grudgingly admits that, “Getting surgery together is OK. It shows they have a good relationship.”

From a plastic surgeon’s standpoint, a mother-daughter experience is normal. “People do this all the time,” Dr. Christine Petti, a plastic surgeon at the Aesthetic Accents Cosmetic and Laser Surgery Center in Torrance, Calif. tells HollywoodLife.com. “I haven’t had anyone come in saying it was going to be a bonding thing, but it’s common for a mother to have facial plastic surgery and then a daughter come in afterward for a nose job.”

Agrees Beverly Hills-based surgeon Frank H. Ryan, “This type of mother-daughter bonding experience is far more common in the world of reality TV where the producers are always in search of an interesting angle and story arc! In reality, it happens occasionally, but it is far from the norm.”

So you see, ladies, don’t believe everything you see on television! Lynne and Raquel are the exception, not the rule.

Talk about an intense bonding experience! Last summer, The Real Housewives of Orange County‘s Lynne Curtin got plastic surgery with her 19-year-old daughter Raquel. One eye-lift and a nose job later, the mother-daughter duo are finally dishing about their transforming experiences.

Lynne is more than aware that getting surgery with her daughter was a controversial move, but she still thinks it was a worthwhile experience.

“It’s not radical, and it makes her feel good,” Lynne told Life & Style Weekly. “I’m happy that she’s happy. And I’m also happy because I don’t have to listen to her complain about it anymore!”

Raquel had her mom’s blessing, but she says she would have gotten the work done whether her mom approved or not. “I really wanted it, and if she’d said no, I might have gone to a terrible doctor,” Raquel said. “But she was supportive and took me to an amazing surgeon. It was really cool of her.”

Did the experience make them closer? Lynne thinks so! “It was just a total mother-daughter experience,” she raved. “Recovering together was cool. We got each other ice packs and ordered takeout.”

We have to admit, getting tandem plastic surgery with your daughter totally fits into The Real Housewives image! It’s a little more expensive than shopping and a lot more intense than seeing a movie…
