Bio:
Luke Aikins (born in 1974), is an American professional skydiver, airplane pilot, aerial photographer and BASE jumper. a third-generation skydiver, Luke has two decades of experience and 16,000 jumps to his name, as well as three world records to his name. Luke is on staff at Washington’s Kapowsin Air Sports and at Red Bull Air Force, and is an expert at the skydiving technique of “swooping.” Additionally, Luke works as a coach, instructing Navy SEALS on jumping, as one of the Safety and Training Advisors for the United States Parachute Association. Luke was instrumental in setting up the Red Bull Stratos mission, designing the parachute setups for the legendary jump.
Best Known For:
Luke is best known for the Heaven Sent jump on July 30, 2016, in which he jumped from an airplane at 25,000 feet without a parachute or wingsuit on live TV. He only had a GPS, a communication device, and an oxygen tank on him. It was dubbed the “most dangerous stunt ever shown live.”
