Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel narrowly escaped elimination in their fourth week on Dancing with the Star: All-Stars, as they were forced to quickly learn a dance they’d never done on the show before: Disco! Find out how they pulled through to dance another week…

THE CONTINUING STORY OF THE DANCING DUTCHMAN & THE DAZZLING DYNAMO!

Chapter 4:

Week 4 brought with it the added challenge of dances that were new to the Dancing With the Stars stage. Kirstie Alley & Maksim Chmerkovskiy picked Disco for The Dazzling Dutchman and I, and we could have not been happier. Growing into the wise and mature superhero (haha) that I am took years of practice and hard work. Along the way, I’ve had many teachers that taught me how to become the best superhero I could be. With my latest adventure on Dancing With the Stars, I have a new set of teachers: Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman  and Bruno Tonioli. Every week I take their criticisms and suggestions to heart and focus on how I can make each performance better than the last. With our Week 4 Disco, The Dutchman and I wanted to make sure that our dance was a show-stopper. Here’s how it all came together…

Wednesday morning we had a meeting with Peter, the producer who pulls together all the elements to make every performance shine. After watching the dynamic and dramatic dances from the night before, we knew we needed to step up the creative production end of our dance. We had the idea of re-creating Studio 54 or “Studio DWTS” as we called it. The Dutchman and I brought in a bunch of inspiring images from the Studio 54 era. We gave Peter a laundry list of elements we wanted, and he definitely delivered.

During the week, The Dutchman and I practiced our fast-paced and challenging dance. We had the phrase “go big or go home” in the back of our minds all week. The Dutchman came up with some amazing lifts and spins, and we worked hard to perfect them. By Sunday afternoon’s blocking we were bone tired. While we had nailed the hardest stunt (where the Dutchman spins me and I land into a split) in rehearsal, by camera blocking time the hard work had caught up to our muscles and we weren’t able to execute that stunt. I must say that it was hard to leave the stage without making sure we had the dance perfected, but sometimes a good night’s sleep is all it takes to recharge tired superheroes.

Every Monday morning is dedicated to our hair and makeup team. They start early in the morning with their magic. I had wanted to channel the glamour of Studio 54 and big hair was part of the look I had planned. As soon as I arrived to the studio, the team started rolling my hair into tiny little curls. How they turned those curls into that golden halo of hair, I’ll never know. I bet you thought that hairstyle was a wig, but rest assured, I had to deal with those teased and backcombed curls the next morning. It took an entire hour and a whole bottle of conditioner to comb out my hair. OUCH! Good thing suffering for beauty is in my arsenal of superhero skills!

From the turquoise coat to the glittering disco ball the production was all we had wished for! As soon as we stepped onto the dance floor, my blood starting pumping to the disco beat, and away we went. To get the opportunity to dance to the classic Bee Gees song, “You Should Be Dancing” was quite an honor. My disco-loving parents got to be part of the crowd dancing with us towards the end of the song, and that sure put a smile on my face. As we headed down the stairs to get our critiques from the judges, all I could think was “I get to be judged by Paula Abdul! The dance legend Paula Abdul!” When she and Bruno weren’t as excited about our dance as Len and Carrie Ann, I took it in my super stride, and was grateful that I had a chance to perform for her.

Every Tuesday comes the show we all dread: the ELIMINATION show. Knowing that my scores were in the middle, and being in that same position the week before, I felt that I might end up in “jeopardy” again. Even though I had faith that our Super Voting Fans would wield their mighty voting fingers for us, I wanted to be mentally prepared to face the fact that I might be going home. When the Dutchman and I were called safe early in the show, I was so shocked and ecstatic, that I feel I may have crushed the wind out of Tom Bergeron in my fit of happiness. Sometimes I just don’t know my own strength. * Sigh *

All this week the Dutchman and I have been preparing for the group dance with some of my favorite people in the world, Shawn Johnson & Derek Hough, Apolo Anton Ohno & Karina Smirnoff and Melissa Rycroft & Tony Dovolani. Team Call Me Maybe has been working hard to create a dynamic and high-energy performance, and I think you’ll be impressed.

For our couples dance, my dream has finally come true, this superhero gets to be…a Princess!! I just saw the finished version of my costume, and I have just two words to say: SPARKLY BALLGOWN!! Yes!! I hope that our waltz will show a different side of my personality to the judges, and I can’t wait for you all to see it!

Chapter 3:

This week, the Dancing Dutchman and I took on “Iconic Dance” week with all the gusto and excitement that we had in us. We were so excited to be able to pay tribute to Mel B. and Maksim Chmerkovskiy‘s season 5 Paso Doble. Now, a Dazzling Dynamic superhero such as myself never really likes to talk about the moments in life when one is not at the height of their superpowers, but to explain how we chose this dance, I must tell you a little story:

On season five of Dancing With the Stars, the contestants formed a very tight group as soon as the show started. As a Cheetah Girl, of course I was in awe of Mel B., the feisty and fierce Spice Girl. When we arrived at Week 6 of the competition and “the moment that shall not be mentioned” happened, my new DWTS family rallied around me. When I watched Week 7 of the competition at home on my TV, I discovered my friends who remained on the show wore cheetah paw tattoos to show their love for me — and I have to say, my super heart was full to bursting! After Mel and Maks finished their dance and headed back for the judges scores, they announced that their dance was dedicated to me! So, when I was asked to pick my “iconic dance” how could I choose any other?

During rehearsals, the Dutchman and I prepared our Paso Doble with an eye to capturing the combination of grace and ferociousness that Maks and Mel brought to their own. Simply put, I wanted to do them proud! Although not all the judges liked our dance, the Dutchman and I were happy with the choices we’d made.

After the show, Maks came up to me and thanked me for such great comments and said that Mel would be proud! That right there took away any doubts to whether or not we took the right route with this Paso!! I really just wanted to make Mel proud and thank her for the awesome gift that she gave me. … I mean, HELLO!!! A SPICE Girl dedicated a dance to me!! I will never forget that and I hope she really did like it!!

During the show, we got the news that a glittery curve ball was being thrown at us from down below on the judges’ panel, and as soon as we went to a commercial break. there was an outburst of questions. I don’t know if I lost my super hearing powers, but I couldn’t make out a thing Len Goodman or Tom Bergeron was saying, so I tried to catch up with what our challenge was.

“WHAT?? We’re picking dances for each other? Wait. They are new dances??? WHAT IS GOING ON!!! Wow, this will be interesting!!” The Dutchman was convinced we’d get the polka, then immediately started laughing at me when I told him “I didn’t even know that was a real dance!” Throughout the rest of the show Melissa Rycroft, Tony Dovolani, Shawn Johnson, and I started joking about starting a Survivor-type alliance to give each other good dances. Kirstie Alley and Maks chose the dance for us, and we were happy when they gave us Disco. I’m not sure if they were so happy that we gave them the Charleston, but I thought that Kirstie and Maks could really make up a great story and an amazing dance to go with it, so…I had tried to be nice! :)

But before we could even get to our Disco dance, we had to make it through the final elimination. The Dutchman and I were grouped with Mark Ballas and Bristol Palin, as well as Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower, and two of us were going home. When Mark and Bristol were called safe, I was sad to be standing next to my season’s champion, Helio. Being in the bottom three brought me right back to season five’s “moment that shall not be mentioned” and all the emotions that memory evoked. The Dutchman and I did our best to hide our shaky nerves, as any superhero worth their salt would do. When Tom announced that Helio and Chelsie would be leaving the show with Drew Lachey and Anna Trebunskaya, I was sad for my friend — but happy that the Dutchman and I would get another week to do what we love best…perform for you.

As a little superhero, my superparents told me many stories about the fun they had dancing to such iconic artists as Donna Summer, The Bee Gees, and Gloria Gaynor. The Dutchman and I plan to bring a lot of Monday Night Fever to the ballroom, and transport you back to a time when everyone danced to a disco beat. BTW, I just gave you a little clue about what our song is going to be! ;)

Without your votes, the Dancing Dutchman and the Dazzling Dynamo wouldn’t even be getting a chance to put on our dancing shoes, so thank you for each and every vote you cast for us. We’ll see you Oct. 15, and I can’t wait for you to see my killer disco outfit!

It was another huge week for Sabrina Bryan and partner Louis Van Amstel on Dancing with the Stars: All Stars, as the duo took on the dreaded Quickstep! And even we were all there to see Sabrina and Louis dominate the competition with the highest score of the season, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Keep reading to find out what really went down backstage, including Sabrina’s thoughts on Joey Fatone‘s elimination.

Chapter 2:

Thanks to everyone who voted for us, The Dancing Dutchman and The Dazzling Dynamo have returned to the ballroom for Week 2 of Dancing With the Stars! After four days of rehearsal, we’ve had some ups and downs, but we’re ready to rock the house with our Quickstep.

One of those “downs:” well, my superhero powers failed me during rehearsal on Saturday, and the Dancing Dutchman and I ended up falling on the stairs. Thank goodness the Dutchman had the strength to keep me from knocking my ribs on the steps, because a strong ribcage is one of the keys to a good upper body frame in Quickstep. After a couple of days to heal I was raring to go by Monday night.

Dancing With the Stars is an amazing feat of production every week, and I’m always impressed with how the crew puts together such incredible shows. A lot of work goes into preparation for each show. Each Sunday, the competitors attend camera blocking, which allows the technical crew to choose the lighting, video and camera angles. This Sunday, we were the first team to do our blocking. After running our dance a few times, I was ecstatic to hear Anna Trebunskya tell me that my frame looked great. Whenever a pro gives you a compliment, that’s a good thing!

After blocking we headed up to the Wardrobe Department, the home of all things bright and beautiful. And as you know, very very sparkly. The Dutchman and I tried on our completed costumes for the first time. While we do have fittings during the week, Sunday is the day to see the final version of our costumes. I was so excited to try on that gorgeous black beaded dress. I felt like a Rock & Roll Princess! And the Dutchman in his dashing suit was a sight to behold.

Before we knew it, it was Monday night and time for the show. This week, the nerves were different. We all made it through the first dance and the first elimination, so we had conquered the opening show jitters. But now we had to face the fact that that the competition is fierce and everyone is bringing their best routines.

While we were waiting our turn to dance, the Dutchman and I enjoy watching all of the dances before us. In rehearsal, Bristol Palin was scared of breaking the bottle over Mark Ballas‘ head, but in their dance, she wasn’t afraid at all, and gave him a good wallop!

As soon as the Dutchman and I heard the announcer say: “Dancing the Quickstep, Sabrina…” we took off running to get to our starting place. I ran as fast as my feet could carry me, took a deep breath and off we went. “Black Betty” by Ram Jam is one of my favorite songs, and I had hoped to dance to it at some point in season five. I requested to use it this season, and I was so happy when the producers told us the song was approved. As soon as the Dutchman heard the song, he said it was perfect for a Quickstep, and it sure was!

During the dress rehearsal, we realized that we had time to add one more move to our dance, so we added an extra spin at the end. Some might think we were crazy to make that final pose even more dangerous, but the Dancing Dutchman and The Dazzling Dynamo are always up for some extra danger! (Plus don’t worry, we were ready for it, I promise!)

Waiting for the judge’s scores is always nerve-wracking, but as soon as I heard:

9! 8.5! 8.5! A score of 26!

I knew that I had made the Dutchman proud.

Happy with our performance, we were able to enjoy the rest of the night’s amazing dances. My favorite performance of the night belonged to my “big brother” Joey Fatone. From the set, to the costumes, to the choreography, everything was so well thought out, and so much fun to watch.

After a long night and day spent thinking about the looming elimination, we were ready for the Results Show. To be asked to do the Encore Dance is such an honor, and the Dazzling Dutchman and I wanted to come out and make it as good as the first performance.

Thankfully, we didn’t have to wait long for find out if we were “safe” or in “jeopardy.” Standing on the stage with Joey & Kym Johnson, Emmitt Smith & Cheryl Burke and Drew Lachey & Anna, I hoped to hear Tom Bergeron once again say, “you’re all safe,” but that didn’t happen. The moment Joey & Kym were put into “jeopardy,” my heart sank. I didn’t want my big bro to go home!

It was so hard to hear Joey & Kym’s names called out as the team leaving the show. I admit, even the toughest of superheros can’t always hold back their emotions and I let mine out. Sigh. I’m going to miss Joey & Kym so much! It made us realize that every week it’s going to be hard for the remaining teams, because we’ve all become so close.

The Dutchman and I are so happy and grateful for everyone who voted us back for next week’s dance. And while I can’t reveal which “iconic dance” we’ll be inspired by, I can give you a hint when I say that the dance was by two people who mean a lot to me.

So, Week 2 was an emotional rollercoaster: from falling down steps to climbing to the top of the leaderboard. From encores to goodbyes to beloved friends.

When I was selected at the Fan Favorite contestant on the all-star season of Dancing with the Stars, I was thrilled to be partnered with the very talented and all-around amazing guy, Louis Van Amstel. We’re taking inspiration from the show’s superhero-themed opening credits, and have decided that our superhero alter egos must come out to play this season. We had already chosen our “team” name of The Van Bryans, and the next logical step was to put a name to our superhero partnership.

Since Louis is originally from The Netherlands, The Dancing Dutchman was the obvious choice for him. For my name, we went back to season five, and one of Bruno Tonioli‘s comment when he called me a blonde dynamo. And the name The Dazzling Dynamo was born!

As we all know, every superhero must have a writer and illustrator to bring them to life. So, I asked Julia DeVillers, my partner-in-crime-fighting, and sometimes writing, to help bring to life the story of The Dancing Dutchman and the Dazzling Dynamo, and the journey that is Season 15 of Dancing With the Stars.

The equally talented and amazing Paige Pooler created the artwork for our story.

Enough of me, it’s time to get to the good stuff: behind the scenes at Dancing With the Stars: All Stars!

THE STORY OF THE DANCING DUTCHMAN & THE DAZZLING DYNAMO!

Chapter 1:

It’s Monday night and I’m waiting backstage for the start of the very first-ever Dancing with the Stars: All-Stars season. I’m in my first “superhero” costume: a hot pink dress (my favorite color) with thousands of sparkling beads. Whew, this costume is one hot number!

The Dancing Dutchman and I wait in suspense as we hear the announcer say those special words: “Live! From Hollywood! This is the premiere of the all-star season of…Dancing with the Stars!”

The music blasts from below. The audience goes crazy. As the brand-new Emmy award-winning host Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet intro the show, we hear the crowd go wild.

Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson head down the stairs, followed by Shawn Johnson and Derek Hough. And then it’s time for The Van Bryans! I take a deep breath and move to the top of the stairs — and “whoa!” We get a view of the set and super doesn’t even begin to describe it. It’s massive, multi-level and everything is bigger, brighter and better than season five.

If my eyes are full of shining lights, my ears are full of the cheers from the audience. I try to take it in — all of the ladies in the audience in their beautiful dresses and the guys in suits cheering us on. I spot my adorable friend Kyle Massey first, then I spy season-six champion Kristi Yamaguchi, Drew’s brother, Nick Lachey and Anthony Geary from General Hospital, there to support his friend Kelly Monaco!

If my superhero powers included flight, I’d be soaring right now. And then I hear Tom’s voice: “Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel!”

The Dancing Dutchman takes my hand and I practically float down the giant staircase with him. As we line up with our fellow dancers, I can’t help but think about how grateful I am to have been voted back on the show. It’s a wish come true. This time, I’m dancing for the fans, because without their votes, I wouldn’t be standing on this shiny floor!

After Joey & Kym’s cha cha and Shawn & Derek’s foxtrot, it’s our turn. The Dazzling Dutchman and I take the dance floor. We get in position and hear: “Dancing the Cha Cha Cha, Sabrina Bryan and Louis Van Amstel.”

The first notes of “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction came on and I feel really, really happy! Did you see my huge smile as we took our first steps? Yes, later the judges would say I danced “too hard.” Well, maybe I did but there was just absolutely no way I could contain my excitement! Then comes the scary part: the judge’s scores.

From Carrie Ann Inaba: “My favorite firecracker is back in the house?! You are on fire!” (Aww, thanks Carrie Ann!)

Len Berman said I was like a hammer on the dance floor. Next time I’ll try to be a hammer in a different way — I want to nail my dance. (Bang!)

When Bruno said, “my God I’m happy you’re back,” you can tell I am too as I fling myself into the Dancing Dutchman’s arms!

7.5! 7.5! 7.5! A score of 22.5!

“You at home brought Sabrina Bryan back to the dance floor,” Brooke said after we got our scores. At that moment, I’m appreciating the fan vote more than ever…and I’m hoping you’ll bring me back for next week too!

Up in the Sky Box, Louis and I had a spectacular view of the ballroom. Dang, I was impressed with everyone’s dances. If I had only a word or two to describe each of my talented friends, they would be:

Joey – proud
Drew Lachey – impressed
Shawn – adorable
Apolo Anton Ohno – consistent
Bristol Palin – confidence
Gilles Marini– intimidating
Kelly – most improved
Pamela Anderson – dramatic
Kirstie Alley – elegant
Melissa Rycroft – showmanship
Helio Castroneves – charming
Emmitt Smith – wow factor

Thoughts were racing in my head as I watched everyone dance. Cheryl Burke‘s dress was perfect. I loved Gilles’ song. It was a great flashback watching Helio from my season dance. It also was bittersweet watching my former partner Mark Ballas dance with Bristol, and I couldn’t help but visualize myself in Bristol’s shoes doing that dance with Mark.

After a night of nervous tossing and turning, it was time to go back the ballroom to prepare for the Results Show. With an entire day to wonder if you’re safe or not, we all spend time joking around and having fun to release some of the tension.

The Results Show always offers great live entertainment and I was so proud to watch the pro dancers in their amazing number and my friends in the Dancing With The Stars troupe as well.

When they called Louis and me to the stage to find out our results, I was so nervous. Standing up there with Cheryl & Emmett and Gilles & Peta Murgatroyd, there was what Tom called “unintentional drama.” When Tom said “you are ALL safe” we didn’t realize he hadn’t said our names! It was hard to go from jumping up and down from joy and then go back to waiting for our fate. When Brooke told us we were safe, I was able to breath again.

In the end, Pam and Tristan MacManus were the ones to go home, and we are all going to miss them very much. It just goes to show that you can dance your best every Monday night, and sadly, you can still be eliminated!

So, the Dazzling Dynamo and the Dancing Dutchman will be back next week, dancing the Quickstep! I’m what some might call “obsessed” with my song we get to dance to, since it’s one of my all-time favorites!

These superheroes are heading back to the studio to conquer another dance – but I can’t leave without one final thank you to everyone who voted for us this week! We’re going to give you an amazing Quickstep in thanks!

I think the young mom crossed the line from ‘classy’ to ‘trashy’ in her latest routine — what’s YOUR take?

We love Kendra Wilkinson‘s energy on Dancing with the Stars, but her April 25 routine was way too inappropriate for network TV!

Dancing to Ricky Martin‘s “Livin’ la Vida Loca” with her partner Louis Van Amstel, Kendra, 25, shook and shimmied her crazy curves aggressively in a barely-there fringe outfit. And her sexy dance triggered mixed reaction from the judges.

Carrie Ann Inaba started her critique with a backhanded complement.

“I have to recover — oh my god,” she said. “That was a lot of information. That was a guilty pleasure, my dear. You can shimmy like no other. You were so in your element.”

Meanwhile, judge Len Goodman let his libido get the best of him, saying, “The more you gyrated, the more I palpitated. You fulfilled one of my guilty pleasures. Last week we had a spark — tonight we had a fire!”

But perhaps the most fitting comment came from over-the-top judge Bruno Tonioli, who thought the performance would open up a whole new career for Kendra!

“Ladies and gentlemen, Dancing with the Stars presents Revenge of the Stripper, Part 1: Attack of the Killer Boobs!”

Kendra Wilkinson‘s booty will win her the mirror-ball trophy! The 25-year-old reality star has been working around the clock for the Season 12 premiere of Dancing with the Stars on March 21. GMA gave viewers a sneak peak of her practice with Louis Van Amstel — and there’s no doubt she’s dancing to win!

You might believe Kendra has an unfair advantage since she was a former stripper and is incredibly athletic. Kendra will be this season’s Nicole Scherzinger, the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, who won Season 11. The clip shows she has the bump-and-grind background to take the whole competition. And her post-baby bod looks better than ever.

Of course, we love other members of the cast like Kirstie Alley and Wendy Williams -- but they definitely have a battle on their hands with Kendra!

I danced with Kendra Wilkinson and her DWTS partner at Crunch in LA and Kendra’s moves make me think she’s in it to win it!

Yesterday I joined Kendera Wilkinson and her Dancing with the Stars partner Louis van Amstel at Crunch Fitness in LA and it was quite the experience! I struggled with some of the moves but the truth is — so did Kendra. In fact, she left early! But nevertheless Louis chatted with me about how she’s doing in the competition, and revealed their first song!

When I was first approached with the idea to dance with Kendra Wilkinson, my first thoughts were scattered. I laughed, I couldn’t believe it, I was excited and I worried about how much pain I would be in afterwards. Luckily after experiencing the dance off I can safely say I didn’t break anything and actually feel pretty good. The 25-year-old former Girl Next Door certainly has the sexy moves that will benefit her on the dance floor, where as my moves were far from stellar. But one thing I can say is I finished the entire hour plus dance session while Kendra left half way through.

The training and dancing were fun but very intense, one thing I noticed with Louis training, he is a drill sergeant and he expects perfection, where Kendra is bubbly and having fun with herself. Making herself laugh is obviously a thing she often loves doing (which you’ll see in the video below of their first dance rehearsal).

There were times Kendra wasn’t able to follow the fast-paced dance commands of Louis, but she made things seem fine with a quick smile and laugh until she made her two left feet into a right and left foot situation. Overall it was a blast that I would do every week, as I know I would improve greatly. One thing I learned though throughout the whole process, dancing is hard and the “stars” that join the show should really be rewarded for their hard work. It really is amazing what they are able to pull off in so little time.

As for the upcoming season: “Kendra is already on her second dance”, Louis excitedly expressed adding, “She works it in those three inch heels. She really is doing good!” He also mentioned that they will be dancing to David Guetta’s “‘When Love Takes Over” which should be incredible if they have the dance steps to follow it.

And luckily for hubby Hank, there is no love connection between these two at all, so don’t expect to hear that drama as the season goes on. It should be a fun ride regardless and I am officially on Team Kendra!
