Sean Astin is most recognized for playing Mikey in The Goonies and Samwise Gamgee in The Lord Of The Rings trilogy, but at home, he is typically known as “dad.” He is the father of three “healthy and beautiful” girls, Alexandra, 14, Elizabeth, 8, and Isabella, 5, with his wife Christine Harrell.

“They have such a funny relationship to me and movies I’ve been in,” Sean says of his daughters. “There’s no real evidence in our house of my life as an actor. There’s no stuff lying around or posters or pictures or anything anywhere. They love movies, they’re big movie fans, so the fact that I’m in movies is really cool to them but no more cool necessarily than when they get to be in a school play or something.”

‘The Lord Of The Rings’ prequel reunites the star with series director Peter Jackson.

Elijah Wood, 29, will return to New Zealand to shoot The Hobbit, the prequel to the mega-popular The Lord Of The Rings franchise, Deadline reports. The film will be helmed by Peter Jackson, 49, who directed and co-wrote the original trilogy.

The news comes as a surprise to many fans, as the action of J.R.R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit takes places 60 years before the original trilogy — Elijah’s character Frodo Baggins isn’t even alive yet! But fan sites have speculated Frodo will be involved as a framing device to the story, perhaps reading and narrating the tale as it unfolds onscreen.

“Around the time of The Lord of the Rings, it was a shock to me just how big it is to be on that kind of media juggernaut,” Miranda explains. “It was a big thing and the scrutiny was shocking. I think that’s what I meant with the Nicole comment, the incredible scrutiny she’s under. There’s such big pressure on people who are incredibly famous, on those who have people sitting outside their front door and taking photos every time they move. That way of living, I fully sympathize with. My life’s not like Nicole Kidman’s, though.” We hope Miranda has a fantastic and relaxing birthday!
