If anyone knows about being judged, it’s Lindsay Lohan, and while critics are bashing her performance as Liz Taylor, the 26-year-old actress is telling friends she’s “proud and pleased” with how the project turned out.

“She thought it was great and she had a good time filming and working on the project,” a source exclusively reveals to HollywoodLife.com. “Everybody is a critic and she really doesn’t care what anybody says about the movie, at least the negative comments.”

Our source went further, adding: “Nobody can replace Liz, she’s an iconic woman who was so graceful and elegant and there will be only one Elizabeth Taylor!”

“Lindsay did her best and she’s pleased with how everything turned out.”

As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, LiLo’s highly anticipated Elizabeth Taylor biopic premiered Nov. 25 on Lifetime — and the critics were less-than-kind to what was supposed to be the actress’ big comeback.

While HollywoodLife.com managed to find “moments of legitimate brilliance” in the film, other reviewers used more colorful phrases like “wobbly” and “absolutely terrible.”

BuzzFeed counts 32 laugh-out-loud moments in the movie, which is described as “absolutely terrible and hysterically funny.”

Entertainment Weekly calls it a “peculiar, drab, damp little TV-movie.”

People not only calls Lindsay “miscast” as Elizabeth, but also describes her performance as “reckless.”

The Hollywood Reporter proclaims Liz & Dick to be ”half train wreck, half SNL skit.”

The Huffington Post says the movie is “cheap-looking” and “exploitative,” while Lindsay’s performance makes them “sad.”

In many ways, Lifetime’s Liz & Dick — the story of Elizabeth Taylor‘s tumultuous, decades-long romance with Richard Burton — is exactly like the couple’s life together: explosive, unbalanced and absolutely insane. And I mean that in a very good way.

Lindsay Lohan and Grant Bowler play the iconic Hollywood duo to perfection, and just like the couple, the movie is at its best when their relationship is at its worst. It’s pleasant to see them meet and fall in love, but it’s so much more entertaining to watch them fight and experience individual meltdowns — and isn’t that what you really want to see, anyway?

Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor — Proud of Her Performance in ‘Liz and Dick’

She may not be known as a dramatic actress — you may recall her sporting a boob-less t-shirt in Mean Girls — but Lindsay displays moments of legitimate brilliance throughout this film. One particular scene comes to mind, in which she goes to visit Richard’s grave, that’s downright heartbreaking. And that’s not a spoiler; Dick died in 1984.

Grant is also superb as Elizabeth’s (arguably) better half, and if you think Lindsay is the only star capable of pulling off a full-on meltdown in this movie, just wait until you see what Grant has up his sleeve. When he’s not making sweet love to the camera with his seductive, gravelly baritone, he’s throwing tantrums of his own — and he never holds back.

Lindsay is most believable as Elizabeth when acting out her later years, perhaps because she herself can relate to someone who’s been completely drained by the media. In that sense, the casting is almost serendipitous. I can’t think of a more perfect actress to portray the struggles of a once-tabloid fixture than, well, a current tabloid fixture.

Speaking of which, the most interesting aspect of the film is seeing how Elizabeth and Richard’s day-to-day existence created and shaped the tabloid culture we accept as commonplace today. There’s even a scene in which someone defines “paparazzi,” a word I’m pretty sure is now in the dictionary.

And if you’re still not convinced to tune in when the movie premieres, know this: the phrase “slut on a hot tin roof” appears in the film. So, you know, just consider that.

Like Lindsay says in the movie, “I want more. More!”

Lindsay Lohan pulled out all the stops for the Liz & Dick premiere in LA on Nov. 20, where the star showed off extra plump red lips and a silver Donna Dashini gown. While the silhouette gave off a screen siren vibe, the revealing cutouts and exposed belly button ring totally took away from the look.

Red embellishments dangled over the cutouts, drawing even more attention to the style. It was very gypsy-esque, and her visible hoop belly button ring drove the point home.

Retro waves, red lips, vintage jewels, Nanzo Muzi shoes and a fur stole really exuded screen siren glamour, (like that of Elizabeth Taylor herself), although I couldn’t get past the cutouts.

She may be controversial, but Lindsay always knew how to work the red carpet. Personally, I welcome her return to the spotlight — just leave the cutouts at home next time!

Is Lindsay Lohan finally making her big comeback? The trailer for Lifetime’s Liz & Dick has hit the web, and honestly, I can already tell I’m going to love it. The video is only 28 seconds long, but it’s clear the film highlights Elizabeth Taylor‘s more manic side, particularly her bananas relationship with Richard Burton, played here by Grant Bowler. And even though Lindsay only utters nine whole words in the clip, it’s safe to say she’s bringing it hard.

Lindsay Lohan may be sporting handcuffs in real life, but she’s dripping in diamonds on the poster for her new Lifetime movie Liz & Dick! Sporting one of Elizabeth Taylor‘s many iconic looks, Lindsay poses next to words like “scandal,” “tabloid” and “controversial,” which makes me think she may have been the perfect casting choice. (It all makes sense now: Lindsay’s just a method actress!)

Liz & Dick tells the story of Elizabeth’s tumultuous romance with actor Richard Burton, played in the biopic by True Blood and GCB‘s Grant Bowler.

The movie premieres Nov. 3 on Lifetime.

Lindsay Lohan gave us quite a scare earlier today when reports came in she was found unresponsive in her hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Ray, California. Fortunately, Lindsay is on the mend and we spoke to a friend of hers who received a text message from Lindsay explaining the situation.

The text from Lindsay, exclusively obtained by HollywoodLife.com, reads, “False alarm all is ok. Just tired and extremely exhausted. Thanks for reaching out.”

Our source adds that Lindsay has “really been working hard” on her Liz and Dick film and insists she “hasn’t been partying”.

Lindsay’s publicist has also explained that she suffered from “dehydration and exhaustion”. “Lindsay worked a grueling schedule the past few days,” he said. “She was on set last night at 7 p.m. and worked through the night until 8 a.m. this morning. She took a nap before shooting her final scene. Producers were concerned when she did not come out of her room and called paramedics as a precaution.”

Furthermore, Lindsay’s mother Dina told GossipDavid.com, “She’s fine. She just has been working really hard to ace this role and worked through the night and wrapped at 6:15 a.m. She’s sleeping now.”
