With his starring role in the action film, Abduction, Taylor Lautner is being compared to Tom Cruise now, more than ever and the 19-year-old actor opened up to Ryan Seacrest about the honor this morning on the radio. He explained that his first meeting with his hero wasn’t exactly run of the mill…

“It was very surreal to me to be meeting him,” Taylor said on KIIS-FM Sept. 21. “But he was in this giant fat suit looking like his character from Tropic Thunder, it was so weird!

Taylor and Tom collaborated for a skit on the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, where Tom played the enigmatic producer, Les Grossman. We’ve included the video below for you to relive!

As far as Taylor’s idols are concerned, Tom joins the list of many.

“I have had a few actors that I have looked up to my entire life,” Taylor admitted. “Like Tom Cruise and Matt Damon, Leonardo. They have done similar movies in tone to this, but what I love most is they continue to challenge themselves in a wide variety of roles throughout their career.”

Taylor’s first major action role (outside of Twilight) premieres Sept. 23. Will YOU go see it?

Get all the backstage gossip from the MTV Movie Awards — including who Kristen Stewart disappeared with last night!

Kristen Stewart was a woman in demand at the MTV Movie Awards last night, but why couldn’t anyone find her? Oh, that’s right. She was getting some alone time with a certain someone….

That’s right, that ‘special someone’ was Robert Pattinson! Kristen and her BF were missing in action while their Twilight co-star (and “Best Breakout Star” winner Anna Kendrick) was searching for them! “Has anyone seen Kristen? Has anyone seen Kristen?” the 24-year-old actress asked backstage. In fact, MTV had — they reported she and Rob had taken themselves off to the Green Room for a little alone time! Can’t say we blame them, especially after that “Best Kiss” onstage smooch!

What else went down backstage? Believe it or not, people were actually supportive of Lindsay Lohan and her SCRAM — she got a “warm reception” from her fellow celebs. Another star receiving good wishes was Katie Holmes, who soaked up all the glory of hubby Tom Cruise’s fab performances as Tropic Thunder bigwig Les Grossman.

Will Ferrell confided to MTV that he forgot to pee before getting strapped into his harness (whoops!), Taylor Lautner and Bradley Cooper gave one another bro-hugs and Robert Pattinson said three awards simply wasn’t enough! Ditto, R-Patz. We definitely wanted to see you onstage as much as possible!
