Growing up in an ‘unconventional’ way herself, Kate says she knows her son Ryder will still be well-adjusted!

Kate Hudson, expecting her second baby — the first with 32-year-old rocker beau Matt Bellamy– admits  she didn’t grow up in “normal” family — but she’s happy about it! The 31-year-old actress, who was raised by mom Goldie Hawn and stepfather Kurt Russell since she was 3, doesn’t think marriage is necessary for a family dynamic.

“The most important thing for Ryder‘s life is love, happiness and honesty,” she says of her 7-year-old son with her rocker ex-husband Chris Robinson, 44. “I have the most unconventional family ever. My mom Goldie Hawn was married twice, and then she met my dad (Kurt) who was married before.”

Just like Ryder, who already has a half-sister Cheyenne, 1, from his dad Chris’ second marriage, Kate grew up with a mixed set of siblings.

“I’ve got a brother and half-brothers and sisters, and we all have the most wonderful relationships,” Kate explains. “My mom and dad are around a lot — we all live within seven blocks of each other. You can’t go wrong if you’re honest and your intention is to be happy.”

And Kate proves her point every day! She and Chris have a wonderful relationship and stay friends for the benefit of Ryder. They were recently seen together with their significant others at Ryder’s baseball game. Good for them!

Kate flaunted her fabulous bump March 27 at a party for Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters at Chrome Hearts Factory in L.A.

Pregnant Kate Hudson, 31, looked so chic as she stepped out for dinner in London last night with her boyfriend/baby-daddy, Matt Bellamy, 32, her mom, Goldie Hawn and her step-dad, Kurt Russell! Getting dressed when your body is changing shape every day is not easy, but Kate looked AMAZING in a fashionable furry coat and leather skirt! Most interesting was the fact that Kate kept her ring finger strategically hidden under extra-long sleeves. So the big question is, was it an engagement dinner??

A source close to Kate told The Sun, “It was an intimate party. They kept their engagement secret as they wanted to celebrate with their nearest and dearest before it became public knowledge.” Just before the foursome met up for dinner, Kate made an appearance on a British talk show, The Graham Norton Show, where she told the show’s host, “I’m just starting to pop!” The four-months-along Kate went on to say, “It feels like a girl, but I don’t know. My son, Ryder thinks it’s a girl.”

When asked if she was planning “a trip down the aisle,” Kate said, “No, no, not that I know of! I don’t like putting that kind of pressure on it and I don’t feel it necessarily to get married. I am 31, and have had one divorce so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.” So do you think Kate and Matt should get married?

Goldie’s going to be a grandma again and she just can’t wait!

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are getting emotional about the impending birth of their newest grandchild! “I’m excited! It’s exciting,” Goldie tells Us magazine about her daughter Kate Hudson‘s pregnancy. “You know, we’re just all very happy … happy for them both.”

“We are pretty excited about it,” Kurt, Goldie’s partner of over 27 years, adds to OK! magazine. “I guess it’s going to be about 5 or 6 months. We have time to get ready for that.” I have a feeling they’re going to totally spoil Kate’s new kid! And besides, chasing after more grandchildren is a great way to stay young, right Goldie?

“I love just seeing these kids and it’s fun having babies once again,” Kurt continues. “It’s fun to watch them grow and see how they are getting it and what they are grasping.”

Kurt also says that Kate’s son Ryder, 7, is excited to have another baby sibling (Ryder’s daddy Chris Robinson has 1-year-old daughter Cheyenne Robinson with new wife Allison Bridges). “He is pretty excited about it,” Kurt explains. “Chris and his wife just had a child, a year old and they have a great relationship between those two. He was very excited about that so he is excited about this, too.”

Kate couldn’t wait to carry Matt’s baby — she’s had baby fever for a while!

Kate, 31, is 16 weeks pregnant with 32-year-old boyfriend Matthew Bellamy‘s baby. Matt is the lead singer for Muse so this new baby will also be rock royalty, just like his big brother!

Kate Hudson falls into new relationships hard and fast, but what effect is her speed dating having on her son?

Some Hollywood celebrities seem to have a revolving door when it comes to relationships, and while I’m not going to stand here in judgment of their “now you see ‘em, now you don’t” style of dating, I do wonder about the impact it is having on their kids. Case in point: Kate Hudson. Since splitting with husband rocker Chris Robinson in 2006, the Oscar nominee has been linked to a host of men, including Owen Wilson, Dax Shepard, Lance Armstrong and Alex Rodriguez. Her latest guy, Muse singer Matt Bellamy, was spotted over the weekend with her son, Ryder Robinson, (and without Kate) getting ice cream.

Since reports of them being an item surfaced in June, Kate, 31, has dragged Ryder with her to the UK as she traipsed after her new man. But now that the 7-year-old’s back at school in LA, Matt has followed her to California, where his band is touring. Despite the fact that they’ve only been together for a few months, Kate has already introduced Matt to her parents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, and Matt is even giving Kurt guitar lessons. But given her previous dating history, is Kate getting too serious too soon? And what effect is it having on Ryder?

“Chris is a bit concerned about Ryder, and the effect all this dating might have on him,” an insider told the New York Daily News earlier this year. “But in the end he knows she’s a great mom.”

I’m glad Chris thinks so, because I have to wonder if poor Ryder wakes up every morning wondering who’s been sleeping in Mommy’s bed… and what continent he’s on.

Psychiatrist Dr. Susan Abbott of New York’s Mount Sinai School of Medicine says that speed daters like Kate need to be careful about the people they introduce into their kid’s life. “We usually warn parents against bringing in figures who the child could get attached to before the parent is sure that the new figure is going to be around,” she says. “Kids attach fairly easily and can be hurt and damaged when these new attachments leave. Kids don’t really understand the fundamentals of an adult relationship so they aren’t really able to understand that it’s not personal.”

Dr. Abbott says that she has treated children who have been in these situations and these kids “still count these experiences and lost relationships as losses years later. These lost relationships can be factors that lead to depression.”

So, here’s two words of warning, Kate: Slow Down!

The pair were reportedly even living together in a house just north of NYC and Kate was spending time getting to know A-Rod’s two daughters. Following in the footsteps of her mom, Goldie Hawn, and stepdad Kurt Russell, the 31-year-old apparently loved the idea of  one big, happy blended family. (Kind of like LeAnn Rimes, who calls beau Eddie Cibrian‘s sons “my boys.”)

But by December last year Kate and A-Rod had struck out, and the Bride Wars star moved quickly on, dragging her son in her wake as she dated two other guys before embarking on a cross-Atlantic relationship with 32-year-old Muse singer Matthew Bellamy.

Consistency is important for children, and that would be even more important for Jenny McCarthy‘s 7-year-old son, Evan, who battled the symptoms of autism for years.

Jenny, 37, credited her five-year-long relationship with Jim Carrey with helping give her the strength to work on her son’s problems, but within four months of their split in April this year, Jenny, and presumably Evan, had moved in with her new boyfriend, Jason Toohey.

I generally think that Jenny is a great mom, but was she thinking with the wrong body part here? Possibly.

But if there was an award for thinking with his little head instead of his big one, the prize would totally go to Jon Gosselin, who has had no less than five “significant others” in his life since splitting with his wife, Kate, a little over a year ago.

I pity Jon and Kate’s eight kids. Well, I feel sorry for them them for lots of reasons, but Daddy’s Bimbo of the Week parade (Hailey Glassman, nanny Stephanie Santoro, Kate Major, Morgan Christie, Ellen Ross) must be one of the most unsettling things for these children to deal with.

Jon’s ex-wife was in tears on the Today show as she discussed the 33-year-old’s rebound relationship with Hailey less than a month after their marriage crumbled, “It’s hurtful when his decisions directly affect our children. That’s the hardest part for me.”

And for once, I agree with her.

2009 may have sucked, but we swear Kate, things will get better in 2010!

We know what your New Year’s resolution should be this year, Kate Hudson: focus on having fun as a single gal!

You have to admit, it’s been a pretty bad year in the ex-department. First, you split with your baseball-playing beau Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez, as we here at HollywoodLife.com first reported. Meanwhile, not only did your ex-husband, Chris Robinson, remarry, but he just fathered another child with his second wife!

Your ex-hubby, Black Crowes frontman Chris, 43, and his wife, Allison Bridges, welcomed daughter Cheyenne Genevieve Robinson on Dec. 27, according to People.

We bet that your 5-year-old son, Ryder, is happy to be a big brother, but we can’t imagine that you’re feeling too great right now.

Kate, remember that family will get you through this. You’re on the right track by spending time in Aspen with your mom, Goldie Hawn, and stepdad, Kurt Russell. Enjoy being free and single – the right man will come along, we promise. Love always happens when you’re not looking for it, after all.

In the midst of her breakup from Alex Rodriguez, Kate Hudson has turned to mom for support and Goldie was a protective mother hen at the New York premiere of Nine on December 15th!

Girlfriends, when guys suck sometimes the best person to help you heal is mom! Just look at Kate Hudson, for instance, she’s smack in the middle of breaking up with her beau A-Rod and has looked to  mom to come to the rescue!

Kate brought her mom, Goldie Hawn, as her date to the New York premiere of her latest film Nine on December 15th, just a day after Kate went out to dinner with both of her parents (step-dad Kurt Russell has been showing his support too!).

Kate looks so happy with her mom by her side! The duo was red-hot in black and white gowns — Goldie in Dior, Kate in Chanel haute couture — but they skipped talking to reporters at the premiere (Kate must not be ready to open up about the breakup just yet) and Goldie protectively stood right by Kate’s side the entire night. That’s motherly love!

Goldie, we know you’re not going to let anyone hurt your girl! And really, if Kate can look forward to looking like you when she’s 64, she wont have any problems in the man department for years to come! Bye-bye A-Rod!
