In an excerpt from Jaycee’s memoir ‘My Stolen Life,’ the brave mom of two describes her first night in captivity, the moment she discovered she was pregnant at 14 and going into labor while alone and locked away from the world.

Brave Jaycee Dugard, now 31, also explains how she survived the mental and physical torture of her EIGHTEEN YEARS in captivity and why she never tried to escape the clutches of evil Phillip and Nancy Garrido.

Jaycee was shot with a stun gun and snatched away by Garrido on June 10, 1991, when she was just 11-years-old. In her book, she recounts her first night in captivity vividly, describing how Garrido forced her to shower with him before locking her up for the first time.

• “I say my family doesn’t have a lot of money, but they would pay a ransom to get me back. He looks at me and smiles and says, ‘Really? He leads me into a new room. He takes a blanket off my head, and I see a bunch of blankets on the floor. He reminds me of the dogs outside that don’t like trespassers and says to them I would be a trespasser. He says he has to put handcuffs on me, but that they have fur on them so they won’t hurt too much. Then he is gone. The tears start again. I cry myself to sleep alone.”

Phillip Garrido began raping Jaycee a week after she was first kidnapped. Within three years she was pregnant.

• “Easter Sunday 1994, Phillip says he and Nancy have noticed that I’d been putting on weight and waddling instead of walking. They said, ‘We think you may be pregnant.’ I was stunned and scared. What was going to happen to the baby? How can I possibly raise a baby in this place? But every time I feel the baby kick, I feel less alone in this world.”

And the Garridos forced her to go through a painful labor alone and locked in her room.

• “I have been having sharp pains all day. Is this what it feels like to have a baby? I am so scared! No one has come to check on me all day and the door was still locked, so I had to wait until someone comes.”

When she was ready to give birth, Phillip Garrido delivered their baby, after watching birthing videos to teach himself!

• “My baby girl came into the world at 4.35 am, August 18, 1994. I am fourteen years old and very, very scared. Recounting that day, I can’t believe it was me that went through this. How did I not just go insane with worry? How do you get through things you don’t want to do? You just do. I would do it all again. The most precious thing in the world came out of it… my daughters.”

When Jaycee gave birth again, to her second daughter, three years later — Phillip told her his wife Nancy felt left out, and the girls were told to call her “mommy.” Jaycee had to pretend to be their older sister!

She still felt a maternal bond with her daughters and reveals it was her fears for them that stopped her trying to escape.

• “Phillip gave me this image of the world as a scary place made up of pedophiles and rapists. One of the reasons I stayed was I wanted my kids to be safe. I knew they were so safe in the backyard; I didn’t have to worry about anyone taking them.”

In time, Phillip started taking Jaycee and the girls out of the house — and she prayed someone would recognize her and rescue them.

• “I remember being really nervous when we went out. I stuck close to Phillip and kept my eyes averted from everyone. I had no voice and I didn’t shout to the world, ‘Hey, it’s me, Jaycee!’ even though I longed to. I could never shake the feeling that one day someone would say, ‘Hey aren’t you that missing girl?’ But nobody did. I was nobody. Nobody saw me. Phillip would say it was angels protecting us.”

Her nightmare ended in August 2009 when the Garridos’ secret was discovered and Jaycee was reunited with her mom!

• “I was nervous about the reunion. For the longest time I couldn’t remember what my mom looked like. But there she stood, with arms wide open. She was smiling and crying and she put her arms around me and I felt so safe and whole again.”

What a heartbreaking story, HollyMoms. A Stolen Life is released in full on July 12 and Jaycee will tell her story to Diane Sawyer in an ABC special on July 10.

As if Joy White hasn’t been through enough pain within the last 23 years, now her biological daughter, Carlina White, who was finally reunited with her real parents this January after being kidnapped as an infant back in 1987, has decided to stand by the woman who snatched her from the hospital. What a shame.

A defense lawyer in the case today, May 3, announced that Carlina, 23, has decided to testify on behalf of her “fake mother,” Ann Pettway, who has pleaded not guilty to the kidnapping charge. Carlina, who now has a 6-year-old daughter of her own, still feels a part of the Pettway family and will stand behind Ann if she is convicted.

Ann claims that she did not steal Carlina, but that a drug-addicted woman handed her the 19-day-old baby at the hospital. Ann then raised Carlina, who grew up as Nejdra Nance in Bridgeport, CT.

Carlina discovered Ann was not her biological mother a few years back after asking her “mother” for her birth certificate when she fell pregnant. Carlina tracked down her real parents, Joy White and Carl Tyson through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

How awful! The sex offender who has confessed to abducting Jaycee as an 11-year-old stuns the court by NOT admitting his guilt. Jaycee — and the daughters he fathered with her while she was held as a sex slave — now may have to testify!

Poor Jaycee Dugard! Court observers thought she wouldn’t ever have to again face the man who imprisoned her as a sex slave for 18 years. But now Philip Garrido, 60, who has admitted snatching her as a child from a school-bus stop and holding her captive until she was 29, has pulled a surprising switch!

He pleaded not guilty before a California judge April 7 — reversing the expectation that he would finally plead guilty.

Nancy Garrido, 55, Philip’s wife, is believed to have dragged Jaycee into the car her sex offender husband was driving when Jaycee was abducted in in 1991 in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. The Garridos are accused of holding Jaycee at their Antioch, Calif., home for 18 years, secreting her in tents and locked sheds in the backyard. She was rescued in August 2009.

Both suspects have admitted their involvement to detectives, according to Stephen Tapson, Nancy’s attorney.

The heartbreaking story of Jaycee’s awful abduction, brutal captivity and years of horrific sex abuse in a Bay Area suburb shocked the entire country. And the revelation that Phillip Garrido fathered two daughters with Jaycee while she was held as a sex slave made it all the more wrenching!

Now Phillip Garrido threatens to continue this heartbreaking case for months or even years. His new plea could force Jaycee, now 30, and her daughters, Angel, 16 and Starlit, 13, to face him in court after suffering so much abuse at his hands.

Now they may have to appear as witnesses at an emotionally draining trial.

After attempting to kidnap a baby in order to ease the pain of a heartbreaking split, New York model Michelle Marie Gopaul was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison on Friday, April 1, after pleading guilty to child abduction charges.

In the hopes she could keep the relationship with her ex alive, Michelle decided to kidnap a child by posting a phony casting call on Craigslist, pretending to be a talent agent named Dianne Miller. She said she was willing to pay $15,000 for an Indian baby girl who would star in a big Bollywood film.

Four couples responded to her post, including Sejal and Viral Patel who attended the “casting call” with their month-old daughter, Roma on December 30.

Michelle said she had to see how the baby would react without her parents around and took Roma into a different room, only to disappear with their child.

Authorities found and arrested her four hours later in Scarborough, where she was hoping to introduce the baby to ex-boyfriend, who she claimed to be the father. Roma, who was not harmed, was returned to her family.

“More than anything, I wish I could go back and erase it all,” Michelle wrote in a letter to the court. What a shame.

New Report: Maddy McCann Was Taken By An Organized Pedophile Ring

The single, poor mother was in the process of setting up an adoption when the wealthy couple allegedly snatched her child!

Spanish-speaking Vilma Ramirez was finalizing the details of adoption for her newborn baby, Esperanza when she says a prospective couple kidnapped her from a babysitter—and now she’s suing for the baby’s return!

Andrew and Kelley Grant were working through the process of adopting Esperanza when Vilma, 35, alleges the couple abducted the girl on Jan. 9 in New York City, the New York Post reports. The snatching took place during the 45-day window which would allow Vilma to reconsider the adoption.

“I was at work and [Andrew Grant] convinced the family who were taking care of Esperanza that he needed to take the child now,” Vilma, who works as a cook, alleges.

Vilma alleges her lack of English comprehension when reviewing court documents is to blame for her distress. She believed the adoption would be on open terms.

“If I had been advised . . . that the Grants could decide that I would never see Esperanza again, I would never have signed any consent or other documents,” Vilma said in the March 7 lawsuit.

Meanwhile, a lawyer for the Grants (he’s a software designer and she’s an ad executive) calls all of Vilma’s allegations over the newly-renamed Isabella false, saying, “The birth mother placed the child in the care of others from the beginning of her life.”

We’re sure this will be a very dramatic case once it hits court!

Three young Michigan brothers, who vanished the day after Thanksgiving, are still missing. But Tanya Skelton, the mother of Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7 and Tanner, 5, has yet to give up hope that they will be found. “In my heart, I feel that they are still alive, and I just am waiting for the right clue or tip to come in, or for their father to finally decide to tell who he gave the children to,” Tanya, 44, says in an interview with People magazine. We can only pray that the three boys will be returned home to their heartbroken mother.

The three boys disappeared after their father John Skelton, who planned on committing suicide, claimed to hand them off to a friend, Joann Taylor, who he met online. He said he did that to keep them out of harm’s way. After investigators cleared Joann of any involvement, John changed his story and said he gave the boys to an “organization.” Since then he’s kept quiet and has been safely guarded by his lawyer. After investigating different leads, Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks announced on Nov. 30 that police are not expecting a positive outcome in this case. But, even so, Tanya isn’t giving up on her kids. We don’t blame her. HollyMoms, would you hold on to hope, too?

After the boys disappearance, Tanya had to spend two days in the hospital because her blood pressure skyrocketed. She explains, “When I finally came back to the world, it wasn’t with thoughts that they were gone but that they are alive and I need to find them.” Tanya believes that John, the devoted father and nonviolent man she lived with for 10 years, could never harm their children, let alone kidnap or kill them. She thinks that John isn’t talking because he’s protecting the person who has the boys and believes that individual is being careful not to let the boys be seen together because police are looking for three brothers. “They’re going to bring them out one at a time,” she says.

Hospital kidnapper admits to taking Carlina White

While Tanya doesn’t think John’s a threat, she did notice his odd behavior around September when he decided to take the boys to Florida, saying he wanted to relocate there. Tanner was so scared that he stayed behind with Tanya while Andrew and Alexander went with their father. When John failed to bring her two boys home, she had to go to court to get him to come back to Michigan. Tanya then filed for divorce but went to counseling with John in hopes of keeping their family together.

“I wanted it to work,” she says, “I wanted that happy family of five again.” When John asked to have the kids on Thanksgiving, Tanya didn’t realize she would never see their faces again.”The deeper and longer it goes the more I realize this isn’t the man I fell in love with. I should be tucking my boys into bed and reading them stories, and not lying awake at night thinking about what happened. It’s so hard that we’re coming up on two months and nobody is coming forward. It’s hard – and it hurts.” HollyMoms, can you even begin to imagine what this woman is going through? My heart breaks for her. And everyone here is praying that she has a happy reunion with her three boys very soon.

Stories like this give so many parents hope. Carlina White, now 23, went missing from a Harlem Hospital, on Aug. 4, 1987. The 19-day-old baby had been admitted because of a 104 degree fever. The next morning, her mother Joy White, who was 16 at the time, discovered her baby was kidnapped by a woman disguised as a nurse. Over two decades later, Carlina, who was raised with the name Nejdra Nance, has been reunited with her elated mother, Joy.

“It’s a wonderful feeling. Now I can sleep,” Joy tells The New York Post. “I’ve been worried for all these years. I never took her picture off my dresser. I never gave up looking for her.” HollyMoms, can you even imagine this woman’s pain and suffering as she wondered for 23 years about what had become of the baby girl she only knew for 19 days.

This reunion wouldn’t have been possible without the help of some modern day technology. When she couldn’t find records of her birth certificate, Carlina began to suspect that she was not biologically related to the family who raised her. While searching the internet she discovered the National Center of Missing and Exploited Children site, where she spotted a photo of a girl named Carlina Renae White. That photo looked just like her baby pictures that were snapped by the family she thought was her own. Carlina couldn’t believe what she was seeing and went on to contact Joy, 39, forwarding her a baby picture.

Joy agreed that there were striking similarities between the pictures. The two women contacted the NYPD and got DNA swabs from the biological mother and the biological father, Carl Tyson, in order to see if there was a match. On Tuesday (Jan. 18) the NYPD confirmed the DNA and told Carlina that she was in fact Joy’s baby who was taken for the hospital back in 1987.

“We had a ball,” Joy says of her reunion with her daughter. “I cooked and invited all the family. We hugged and cried. She wanted to know about everyone. I missed the last 23 years of her life. I have to take it all in, for now just take it day-by-day.”

Back in 1987, the city offered a $10,000 reward and questioned a Baltimore woman who’d been spotted hanging around the hospital dressed as a nurse, but no arrests were made. In 1992, Joy and Carl, who was 22 when Carlina was born, obtained a $750,000 settlement in their lawsuit against the city, which runs Harlem Hospital. The kidnappers, who have not been identified, could face federal prosecution, as there is no statute of limitations for kidnapping a child under 18 as long as that child remains alive.

How incredible is this story? I was so affected by it and the fact that it gives so many grieving parents hope that some day they may see their missing loved ones again.

Elizabeth Smart stormed out of a court hearing for her abductor, Brian David Mitchell, yesterday (Dec. 1) in Salt Lake City, UT, after a witness for the defense testified that she had chosen a baby name, thinking she would get pregnant sometime during her captivity after she was kidnapped from her home at the age of 14 in 2002. Elizabeth became visibly upset after Dr. Paul Whitehead, the clinical director of the forensic unit at Utah State Hospital, brought up information he had gathered from Mitchell’s wife Wanda Barzee‘s journal and various police reports — some of it detailing Mitchell’s desire for Elizabeth to become pregnant. “Mitchell was talking to Miss Smart about having babies to the point that Smart actually picked out a name if that happened,” Whitehead testified. It was then that Elizabeth reportedly shot him a cold glare and stormed out of the court room, followed by her mother Lois Smart. How awful!

During the hearing, Dr. Whitehead mentioned that Mitchell punished Elizabeth for not wanting to have children with him during her nine-month abduction. Mitchell told her that by the time she was reunited with her parents, she would have a 10-year-old son or daughter — he and Wanda even picked out baby clothes that they stole from Kmart. Elizabeth began to accept the fact that she might become a mother and then started thinking about baby names. As an innocent and terrified 14-year-old girl, how else would she deal with the idea of pregnancy?

This whole situation makes us feel even more for Elizabeth. It is absolutely terrible what she had to go through. And it’s even worse that she has to sit through a long trial with testimony like this.
