Kevin McHale, the head coach of the Houston Rockets, is heartbroken after his 23-year-old daughter Alexandra “Sasha” McHale died on Saturday Nov. 24.

Sasha had reportedly suffered from the auto-immune disease for a long time and she was hospitalized with a related condition, according to the Houston Chronicle.

“Kevin and Lynn are loving and dedicated parents who will need our continued support throughout this very difficult time. Our entire organization is mourning the McHale family’s loss and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers,” team owner Leslie Alexander said in a statement, expressing her “deepest condolences.”

Kevin, 54, has been on leave for the past two weeks, spending time with his family. In his place, assistant Kelvin Sampson has been acting as head coach.

Alexandra was a student at University of Minnesota Duluth until she took a leave of absence due to her illness. She was diagnosed with lupus last year.

Those McKinley High kids really have each other’s backs! With the news that Glee star Kevin McHale is a frontrunner to co-host The X Factor this season, we couldn’t resist asking his most famous co-star for her two cents. “If that happens, that would be amazing,” LeaMichele told HollywoodLife.com exclusively Sept. 15 at NYLON and Sony’s September TV Issue Party in Hollywood.

“Anytime I’m recording a song for Glee, I always go to Kevin for his advice,” Lea gushed. “He knows so much about music that I know he would be amazing, and a great piece for that show. … He is smart, funny and great with music; it would be a really wise choice.”

HollywoodLife.com recently reported that Kevin McHale and Nick Jonas are frontrunners to co-host alongside all-but-signed hostess Khloé Kardashian. Do you think Kevin is the man for the job?

With The X Factor premiering Wednesday, Sept. 12, many are still eager to find out who will be joining Khloe Kardashian as the latest host of the show. Well, it appears that Simon Cowell, who wants two hosts, has been gunning for Nick Jonas, Kevin McHale and Mario Lopez, to name a few! But its still up to FOX to make the final decision!

Nick, who has also been rumored to be Demi Lovato‘s mentor this season, may pull double duty, as he is well liked by FOX executives. They would like to work with Nick to provide a “younger demographic,” as he was also once considered a potential judge on American Idol. Kevin, already a part of the FOX family with his role on Glee, had a test run of sorts hosting this year’s Teen Choice Awards alongside Demi, and is also highly considered for the much sought after gig.

HollywoodLife.com has EXCLUSIVELY learned, “It looks like the guy host for the show is coming down to some of these selections: Nick Jonas, Kevin McHale, Mario Lopez, Corbin Bleu, (Former G4 Host) Kevin Pereira or a complete unknown,” our source tell us, adding, “And just like the situation with Randy Jackson coming back to Idol because they couldn’t get a deal squared away with another judge, it looks like if all else fails, it could possibly be just Khloe Kardashian. But that would be the last case scenario.”

FOX officially says, “No comment.” But our sources have mentioned to us, “They should be finalizing the guy choice in the next seven days!” We can’t wait!

Kevin McHale has starred on Glee for the past three years, which you think would be enough work for one guy. But, as TV Guide reports, he’s under consideration to co-host The X Factor when it returns this fall, too!

While no one at FOX would officially comment on the rumor, a source close to the show tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that Kevin’s work co-hostng this year’s Teen Choice Awards with Demi Lovato was “almost his audition for the show.” They add that already being a member of the FOX family and having hosted a behind-the-scenes feature with Pepsi on last year’s premiere of The X Factor have “given him the front runner spot to be the guy choice as host.”

Simon Cowell reportedly wants a guy and girl hosting panel. While Khloe Kardashian has been rumored to also be a finalist for the co-hosting gig, our source doesn’t believe Kevin would have good chemistry with Khloe. “If there was a choise, FOX would probably pick Kevin over Khloe, unless they audition well together. But [overall, they] believe he would have better chemistry with Kelly Osbourne or Erin Andrews, ” our source says. Kelly and Erin are also rumored potential co-hosts.

Adapting to change is not always easy, as displayed in the July 3 episode of The Glee Project, where the final ten contestants struggled to overcome challenges, and one was sent packing! So which of this season’s contestants just couldn’t adapt?

This week’s episode was jam-packed with changes, beginning with Charlie and Aylin deciding to just be friends and work on “kicking each others asses.” (Charlie’s words, not mine.)

Robert Ulrich, Glee/The Glee Project casting director, handed out this week’s homework assignment, “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette, with a twist! Lines would be handed out randomly, so no line stealing from Mario!

Kevin McHale made a triumphant return to the reality hit and threw the second curveball of the night — each contestant would be singing the homework assignment as a solo! Of course, editing threw all ten performance together as though it were a group effort anyway, so where’s the excitement in that? Aylin won the homework assignment and got some one on one time with Kevin.

The third twist of the night came when the contestants were not told any information about the big group number until they sat in the recording studio with vocal producer Nikki Anders! The song is revealed as Jessie J’s “Price Tag.” And there’s a chance they kept the song hidden for good reason. “Now I know the title of the song” is Blake’s reaction. Shanna doesn’t know it at all. Huh? Does she not listen to the radio?

During the video shoot, Charlie makes a decision to stay in character — the entire time — as “Scott Campbell, a terrible human being,” and ends up giving off yet another terrible vibe.

Mario receives constructive criticism on his acting, or lack thereof, by video director Erik White. And surprise, surprise, Mario is stunned by this critique!

The final twist of the episode came when the bottom three became a bottom six! These bottom six were paired up to do duets instead of solo last chance performances and Ryan Murphy, Glee/The Glee Project co-creator, picked the bottom three from there.

The Bottom Six

Ali and Abraham – Katy Perry “Last Friday Night”

This was squeaky, irritable, and certainly became awkward when Abraham started to take his clothes off. Ryan may love Ali’s humor, but her voice reminds me of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore — or all three mashed together!

Mario and Charlie – Elton John and George Michael “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me”

How awkward was this duet? The boys started signing with their backs turned to one another, and ended the song embracing one another — with Mario’s head nestled on Charlie’s bosom.

Blake and Nellie – Foreigner “Waiting for a Girl Like You”

Perfect, flawless, and entertaining! If Blake doesn’t win the whole competition, I’d be shocked!

When The Glee Project starts its sophomore season on Oxygen this summer, the new batch of Glee hopefuls will be taking lessons from none other than Lea Michele! “So excited to announce that I’ll be guest mentoring on the season 2 premiere of the Glee Project,” tweeted the multiple award nominee on Jan. 21.

With her appearance, Michele joins the growing ranks of Glee stars offering up advice to the aspiring stars. Last season’s crop of guest mentors includes Glee fan favorites Darren Criss, Idina Menzel, and Kevin McHale.

Of her stint as guest mentor, Michele tweeted: “I[t] was such an amazing experience! All the kids are so talent[ed]! Can’t wait for you guys to see it!”
