And while everyone tweeted support to Waka and prayers to KayO as the show aired last night, it turned out Waka was also watching, and reliving that unbelievably emotional moment when he lost his brother.

Waka’s little brother died on Dec. 20 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His family remembered him in a very emotional funeral on Jan. 6, and they released balloons and doves into the sky.
Waka Flocka Flame and his family wanted to send KayO Redd off in a very special way by holding a lavish funeral for him on Jan. 6 in Atlanta. Waka, his mother and other members of their family attended the funeral, they asked everyone to wear black in KayO’s honor.
KayO Redd’s tragic reported suspected suicide at the young age of 27 left the hip hop industry shocked and devastated, and mourning artists like Nicki Minaj who had witnessed the rapper’s budding career really came out to show their love on social media.

Though it was initially suspected that Waka Flocka Flame’s brother KayO Redd may have been shot by another party, it has been revealed by TMZ that ‘all signs point to suicide,’ and that an autopsy will be conducted Dec. 30 to confirm.
KayO Redd, an aspiring rapper following in his elder brother Waka Flocka Flame‘s footsteps, was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Dec. 29, according to TMZ. This news is especially heartbreaking as it comes on the heels of a tribute that Waka Flocka posted earlier today which featured KayO’s music.
Waka Flocka Flame tweeted a prayer for his younger brother, KayO Redd, who died of mysterious causes yesterday, Dec. 29. ‘Rolling Stone’ reported that the cause of his death has not been officially released, but some reports point toward a shooting in his neighborhood, or even suicide.
This isn’t the first time that Waka Flocka Flame has lost somebody close to him — in 2000, when the rapper was just 13 years old, he lost his brother to a car accident for which he blamed himself. That’s when he “flipped,” said his mother in an interview with Vibe. It’s hard to imagine what it must be like for him to go through a similar loss.
