Kate Mara plays a Washington heavyweight on the hit Netflix series House Of Cards so we were not at all surprised to see her at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 27 in Washington, D.C. Stylist Brian Magallones created her sleek hair to compliment her feminine Prada gown, and it was a total hit! Get her exact look below!

Kate Mara At White House Correspondents’ Dinner — Get Her Exact Look

Brian started off by curling Kate’s hair with the amika 25mm Tourmaline Curler. “A great tip when doing any updo is to always curl the hair first. Having a curl in the hair helps to get the finished look as clean as possible. If the hair is straight then there will be too many fly-aways and the end result can look very static,” Brian says.

“The second step was to pull her hair into a sleek ponytail at the nape of the neck. Brian gave her a deep side part, and made the part at a slight angle to give it a bit of asymmetry. He then rubbed a bit of KMSCalifornia HAIRPLAY gel wax in his palms and smoothed it over her hair as he brushed her hair back into a low ponytail. He then secured it at the nape of her neck, being sure to get it as sleek as possible.

Brian then took a one inch section of hair from the bottom of the ponytail and created a single braid.

He then twisted the remaining hair up and around into a bun, securing with hairpins along the way, while leaving the braid hanging out.

Once the bun was secure, he took the braid and wrapped it around the bun, securing with hairpins. The braid is always a nice way to add texture, and take a simple bun to the next level.

Finally he secured the whole look with KMS California HAIRSTAY maximum hold spray, and then a light shine mist, to keep her looking sleek and chic all night long!”

Kate Mara attended the Zac Posen fashion show held at Lincoln Center on Feb. 12 in New York City.

The Fall 2012 collection was all about the glamour and drama – we are absolutely loving the gowns and they would be perfect to wear to the Academy Awards!

Rooney who? After a long and drawn out search the relatively unknown Rooney beat out actresses including Ellen Page, Emma Watson, and Scarlett Johansson for the much sought after role!

After months of tests, talks, and an abundance of rumors, 24-year-old Rooney Mara has been cast to star in the much anticipated American version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Our sister site Deadline Hollywood reports, “Sony Pictures Entertainment and director David Fincher have chosen Rooney Mara to play Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, the film that begins shooting this fall in Sweden, with Daniel Craig starring.”

This will not be American born Rooney’s first time working with the director, having recently wrapped The Social Network with David which will premiere this fall. Her sister Kate Mara is also an actress, having starred in films such as Brokeback Mountain and Shooter.

Among the actresses who were competing for the role were Ellen Page, Scarlett Johansson, Mia Wasikowska, and Natalie Portman, who reportedly tried to purchase the rights to the books at one point.

Rooney has signed on to do three films, the length of the series, should the first be successful. She has clearly now been catapulted from a relative unknown to one of the biggest young stars in Hollywood overnight. It seems like The Social Network may be the launching pad for the next big things, as fellow costar Andrew Garfield recently signed on for Spiderman.
