Super celeb Angelina Jolie was the face of fashion label St. John, from 2005 to 2008. And now, Angie’s finally been replaced by stunner supermodel Karen Elson, renound for both her fashion runway career and her marriage to rocker Jack White.

The choice to cast Karen is a continuation of the company’s refocus on models. Supermodel Liya Kebede, shot by Mark Seliger, was the first to follow Angie after she left the campaign. Insiders tell HollywoodLife.com that Angelina has maintained a friendly relationship with the company.

“We wanted to make a clean break from actresses … and cleanse the palette. We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved,” St. John CEO, Glenn McMahon, told Women’s Wear Daily.

In any case, Karen, who’s British, shocked celebrity watchers when she and White Stripes/Racanteurs frontman Jack White married after a whirlwind one-month romance. They met when she appeared in the White Stripes music video for their song, “Blue Orchid.”

Hard to believe, with her model’s figure that the couple now has two little ones — Scarlett Teresa White and Henry Lee White.

Superstar Angelina Jolie, 34, has been dropped from the fashion label St. John’s as their ad campaign model, and replaced with 30-year-old  model Karen Elson, wife of White Stripes and Raconteuers frontman reports Women’s Wear Daily. The company’s CEO, Glenn McMahon didn’t make the usual move of issuing a complimentary statement about his ex “face.” Instead, he categorically announced that Angelina “overshadowed the brand.” Ouch!

But the digs don’t stop there. “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses … and cleanse the palette. We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved.” Dig, dig! Angie’s replacement, Karen, is a British red head and mom of two, who’s a regular face in top designer runway shows.

Could St John have been simmering since Angelina was regularly photographed wearing Ralph Lauren, Versace, and Armani on the red carpet but rarely St. John’s. Just askin’?
