‘HIMYM’ Season 9 — What Can Fans Expect To See?

Not only will the upcoming ninth season reveal everything you could possibly want to know about Ted’s (Josh Radnor) future bride — played by Broadway star Cristin Milioti – but the entire season will also take place over the course of a single weekend!

CBS entertainment president Nina Tassler confirmed the news to HollywoodLife.com‘s sister site TVLine on May 15, explaining that we’ll get to see “how each character, before Ted, meets the mother. … They each meet her independently before he does.”

Carter Bays recently discussed Cristin’s casting with TVLine, dropping more clues about the show’s final season.

“It was a pretty big umbrella to fill … and yet Cristin is, against all odds, exactly what we were looking for,” he said. “She made us laugh on 30 Rock, she made us swoon in Once and her ukulele skills are no joke.”

As for the layout of season nine, he said it’ll tell “the epic story of the longest wedding weekend ever.”

After 183 mysterious episodes of How I Met Your Mother, the titular character was finally revealed on the May 13 season finale of the CBS sitcom — and fans are losing their minds!

OK, spoilers ahead! No, seriously, stop reading if you don’t want to know who Ted’s (Josh Radnor) future wife will be played by.

Though we still don’t know much about the lady in question — like, you know, her name — we do know she’ll be played by Broadway actress Cristin Milioti, best known for her performance in the Tony Award-winning musical Once.

The formerly NYC-based actress also appeared on 30 Rock, Nurse Jackie and The Sopranos.

Some fans were totally on board with the reveal.

“Ted’s future wifey is really cute idk what you people are talking about,” tweeted @Jemiholic. “shes totally ted’s type ..i already love them *_* #himym”

Others weren’t really sure how to react.

“It’s like when Harry potter ended,” tweeted @shananigans1218. “I just don’t know what to do with myself… How should I react #themother #himym”

And then there were the proud few, like @AGuyWithNoLife, who used humor and denial to cope with the shock.

“Spoiler alert tyler perry is the mother on How I Met Your Mother,” he tweeted.

If you thought Hanna Marin had daddy issues, just wait until you see Ashley Benson‘s character on How I Met Your Mother! The Pretty Little Liars star appears on the CBS sitcom’s Jan. 21 episode as Carly Whittaker, who falls for Ted (Josh Radnor) because she thinks he’s old — like, even older than he actually is.

“Old men are so sexy,” she tells him. “Were you in Vietnam?”

And it sounds like Ted has Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) to thank for all the awkwardness. According to the episode’s official description, “Barney begs Ted to continue seeing his much younger, much wilder girlfriend, even though Ted has nothing in common with her.”

Yikes.

Ashley Benson’s Racy New Roles

While Ashley’s dad-hungry character on How I Met Your Mother is definitely a departure from her Rosewood persona, it’s hardly her only ‘adult’ role on the horizon. We recently saw the trailer for Spring Breakers, which finds Ashley — along with co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez — playing a bikini-clad bank robber.

And Ashley can’t wait for her fans to see her in a new light!

“The person I play is insane,” Ashley told HollywoodLife.com at ABC Family’s Winter Wonderland on Dec. 2 in NYC. “I’m actually very excited for people to see that side of me, because I’ve never played anything like this character. … [My fans] are going to see me in a completely different light.”
