Start digging a hole, because we’ve got a new addition to Hollywood’s ever-expanding marriage graveyard. Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their eight-year marriage, their rep confirms, a decision they came to after much consideration.

“Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their marriage,” their rep confirms to Us Weekly.

Meanwhile, a source close to the couple insists that all is well between the two; they simply decided it was time to part ways.

“It was a mutual decision,” the source tells the mag. “It is very amicable. It’s not ugly, it’s just over.”

The couple has apparently been living separately for several months, but only now confirmed their plans to divorce.

Josh Brolin & Diane Lane’s Marriage Troubles

Josh, 45, and Diane, 48, tied the knot in Aug. 2004 getting engaged in July 2003. But while they appeared happy together on red carpets, they had their fair share of troubles.

Josh was arrested on Dec. 20, 2004 on a spousal battery charge after a heated argument with Diane. He was released on $20,000 bail, and a spokesperson for the couple described their confrontation as a “misunderstanding.”

More recently, Josh was arrested for a misdemeanor public intoxication charge on Jan. 1, 2013, in Los Angeles

Both stars are familiar with the art of divorce. Both stars were married to other actors from 1988 to 1994 — Diane was with Christopher Lambert, while Josh was with Alice Adair. Josh’s marriage resulted in the birth of children Trevor, 24, and Eden, 18.

Josh Brolin was arrested just before midnight on January 1 in Santa Monica, California for public intoxication. Josh was reportedly booked into jail at 3:02 AM and then released at 7:14 AM on Jan. 2.

Josh, 44, who is married to Diane Lane, was not given a citation, which means that he will not have to appear in court over the arrest, according to TMZ. In other words, it’s all said and done. He paid the $250 bail and was released from jail.

Josh was hanging out with a bunch of his good friends and ended up having “too much fun,” a friend tells TMZ.

Let’s hope Diane doesn’t leave Josh after his arrest. They’ve had their fair share of marital problems in the past. Four months after their wedding in 2004, Josh was arrested for spousal battery. On a positive note, they kept their marriage intact and are still married today.

Veteran newscaster Sam Donaldson‘s wife, journalist Jan Smith Donaldson, divorced him after a DUI arrest, however, they were reportedly separated for several months before his arrest. Could Josh’s arrest be a result of marital troubles?

Furthermore, Linda Hogan was coincidentally arrested for suspicion of a DUI, shortly after ex-husband Hulk Hogan’s sex tape was released.

Linda’s rep told TMZ, “Linda was on her way home from a function in L.A. where she drank a glass of champagne on an empty stomach. We’re told she has also been on antibiotics and the drugs exacerbated the effects of the alcohol. Linda was initially pulled over for speeding.”

In addition to playing a stripper and a sexually promiscuous roadtripper in two recent films, K-Stew is now considering taking on a role as a young prostitute in Ron Howard’s Little America!

Oh Bella, behave! Kristen Stewart may play the endearing and adorably clutzy Bella Swan in the Twilight Saga films, but her most recent roles are anything but PG rated. In fact, the role she’s currently considering is her raciest part to date!

The 20-year-old starlet is reportedly interested in playing a prostitute in Ron Howard and Brian Grazer‘s new film Little America, claims Pajiba.com. Trust us, if K-STew takes this role, you’ll be seeing her as you’ve never seen her before!

In the film, which is being hailed as a cross between Black Dog and Speed, Kristen would play a 16-year-old hooker who accidentally kills a gang member and then has to go on the run. She’ll be saved by an older truck driver and they bond along the way. There’s no word on whether or not she’ll have a sexual relationship with the driver; Josh Brolin was said to be interested in the part, although his rep tells us he isn’t considering such a role.

If she DOES take on this role, it will be Kristen‘s third racy role to date! She’s already played a teenage stripper in Welcome to the Rileys and is now shooting her part as sexually promiscuous hippie Marylou Moriarty in the big screen adaptation of Jack Kerouac‘s classic Beat Generation novel, On the Road.
