Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the Natalee Holloway disappearance, has been convicted of murdering a young woman he met at a Lima, Peru casino in 2010. The court also ordered him to pay $75,000 in reparations to the family of Stephany Flores, according to FoxNews.com.

The three-judge panel described his crime, which took place five years to the day that Natalee went missing, as “cruel” and “ferocious” — describing how he beat and strangled the innocent woman after she discovered his connection to the Holloway case.

Due to time already served, he sentence could end in June 2038. But, if he behaves, he might become eligible for parole after serving only HALF the sentence — that means the killer could be free sometime in his late 30s.

The 24-year-old appeared in court wearing a green T-shirt, wiped tears from his eyes and hung his head as his charges were read. He faced up to 30 years in prison, but the guilty plea was aimed at lowering the sentence.

Five years to the day of Natalee Holloway’s mysterious disappearance, Joran van der Sloot murdered Stephany Flores, a young woman he met in a Lima, Peru casino — and now he apologizes for the brutal crime! “Yes, I want to plead guilty,” he told the court on Jan. 11 according to CBS News. “I truly am sorry for this act. I feel very bad.”

The 24-year-old’s lawyer argued that he killed innocent Stephany because of “extreme psychological trauma” Joran experienced following the Holloway case.

Joran claims he murdered Stephany in a fit of rage after she discovered his connection to the Holloway disappearance on his laptop. But prosecutors say he intended to rob her after learning she won money at the casino where they met and then cruelly beat and strangled her.

The judges will sentence Joran on Jan. 13, and he faces a possible 30 years in jail.

Joran’s attorney said he was expected to plead guilty, but when it came time to tell the court on Jan. 6, the Dutch national asked for more time to decide his plea. He said he wanted to give a “sincere confession” — that’s a type of guilty plea that can qualify him for a reduced sentence — but he didn’t agree with all of the charges against him and needed more time.

The trial’s been postponed until Jan. 11. He’s charged with “qualified murder” and simple robbery. Stephany’s family has tried in vain to convince judges to impose stricter charges. The grief-stricken family is also shocked because Joran has looked cold and not “remorseful” in court.

“He had an indifferent and prideful attitude,” Ricardo Flores, Stephany’s dad, told CNN. “He looks as if he has everything under control. He looks better than when he appeared on TV after he was arrested.”

Joran Van Der Sloot is being charged with the murder of Stephany Flores by Peruvian police, facing a 30-year sentence and a $73,000 restitution to the Flores family, according to Radaronline.

Stephany was found dead in a hotel room registered under Van Der Sloot’s name in Lima, Peru, last summer. She had allegedly met up with Joran the night of her death.

Joran Van der Sloot‘s girlfriend is expecting his baby after a string of conjugal visits with the 23-year-old, according to newspaper reports in Peru and his native Netherlands. What kind woman would sleep with a killer?

While the families of his alleged victims pick up the pieces of their lives; the man suspected of murdering Natalee Holloway in 2008 and Stephany Flores in 2010 is getting special treatment in Peruvian prison.

Reports in De Telegraaf, SBS Broadcasting and Peru’s Periodismo en Línea news agency claim he’s been getting so much sex behind bars, he’s managed to impregnate his un-named Peruvian girlfriend!

Joran has been in police custody since June 2010 when he was arrested for the murder of student Stephany Flores. He later confessed he beat the 21 year old to death after catching her looking him up on the internet.

He feared she’d discover his link to the high profile disappearance of Natalee Holloway on the island of Aruba two years before. At the time of Stephany’s murder, Joran was in the process of extorting money from Natalee’s parents in return for information about her! Amazing, huh?!

It gets better — Joran then retracted his confession, claiming he was framed for murder by a gambler called Elton Garcia.

He’s currently behind bars, awaiting trial, but Joran has flourished in jail, according to reports — gorging on candy which his girlfriend smuggles in, and romping with her while prison guards’ backs are turned!

What kind of jail is he in?

It’s yet to be confirmed if the pregnancy rumors are true.

Joran has made headlines for the past six years in connection to the disappearnce of Natalee Holloway. But now he’s admitting guilt in another murder!

Joran Van der Sloot will finally be put behind bars! The Dutch native has never been charged in in the 2005 murder of 18-year-old Alabama high school senior Natalee Holloway in Aruba. But now his lawyer says he is admitting to killing another young woman, in Peru — Stephany Flores Ramirez. Van der Sloot will claim a “violent emotion” defense — and his attorney Maximo Altez is seeking the lowest possible sentence.

If a Peruvian judge accepts this defense, Van der Sloot may only be get three to five years — instead of the usual 15- to -35 year term typical for a first-degree murder conviction.

Stephanie was found dead in her Lima hotel room on May 30, reportedly after she discovered items on Van der Sloot’s laptop linking him to the Natalee Holloway case exactly five years before.

Natalee’s mom, Beth Twitty, called Van der Sloot’s defense “outrageous” — and she wants to make sure it doesn’t get him a lighter sentence. In the U.S., Van der Sloot has been charged with trying to extort Natalee’s parents by demanding $25,000 to tell them how she was killed and where her body could be found.

“He’s a very slippery, smart criminal,” says John Kelly, the Holloway family attorney.

The mother of accused murderer Joran van der Sloot is speaking out for the first time about her notorious son and apologizing to the family of his victim, Stephany Flores. In a Dutch interview obtained by ABC News, Anita van der Sloot said, “I hope that he gets a chance to talk with the parents of Stephany Flores, and that he can tell them what happened. And I apologize for them … that he’s my son. He’s not a monster. He can be very gentle, but it could be that he has bipolar personality. I hope he gets the help.”

Joran is accused of murdering 21-year-old Stephany in a Peruvian hotel room after a night of gambling. While he initially confessed to the murder he later retracted his statement to a Dutch newspaper claiming he could not understand the document he was signing as it was in Spanish.

In an cryptic twist of fate, the murder of Stephany came five years to the day American teen Natalee Holloway went missing in Aruba, a crime 22-year-old Joran is widely believed to have committed. He is also being charged with extorting $25,000 from Natalee’s mother Beth Twitty after promising he would show her where the body of her daughter was buried.

Anita admits even she finds it hard to proclaim her son’s innocence. “I think a part of me still wants to believe that it’s all a very bad movie. But I thought immediately of the parents of the girl.”

Chilling news: Reports from Peru claim that van der Sloot confessed that he grabbed his victim Stephany Flores by the neck and ‘hit her’ after discovering she was snooping in his laptop … and found out about his past in Aruba.

Joran van der Sloot has admitted under questioning by Peruvian police that he killed 21-year-old Stephany Flores in his hotel room in Lima last week, according to the Huffington Post.

The prime suspect in the 2005 murder of American teenager Natalee Holloway, van der Sloot reportedly said he broke Flores’ neck after she looked through his laptop and discovered his involvement in the disappearance of Holloway.

La Reppublica newspaper quoted van der Sloot as saying, “I did not want to do it. The girl intruded into my private life… she didn’t have any right. I went to her and I hit her. She was scared, we argued and she tried to escape. I grabbed her by the neck and hit her.”

The police say van der Sloot will be taken back to the hotel room where the alleged crime took place to help them reconstruct what happened.
