Bio:
John Saunders (born February 2, 1955 in Ajax, Ontario, Canada) was a Canadian-American sports broadcaster and journalist. His career in sports journalism began in the late 1970s when he served as the news director for CKNS Radio in Ontario and a sports anchor at CKNY-TV. In 1980, John was the man sports anchor for CITY-TV in Toronto. He then moved to the US to work as a sports anchor in Baltimore, where he was until 1986. John joined ESN in 1986 and hosted The Sports Reporters. He co-hosted NFL Primetime from ’87 to ’89 and NHL broadcasts from 1992 until 2004. From 2002 to 2004, John did play-by-play for ESPN’s NBA coverage, mostly on Sunday nights. In 2008, John began to hose SportsCenter during NFL season with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson.

Personal Life:
John was active in the fight against juvenile diabetes and was a founding board member of the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research. His book is expected to be released next April, documenting his lifelong struggle with depression. He married Wanda Saunders and lived in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY with his wife and two daughters Aleah and Jenna. He died unexpectedly on August 10, 2016.
