The May 1 episode of The Voice began with an odd-couple performance by one of last season’s finalists, Dia Frampton, and rapper Kid Cudi. One of my favorites last season, Dia sounded great. There were other solid performances throughout the night, but Dia’s was definitely my favorite.

For The Voice‘s first battle of the night, R&B singers Geoff McBride and Sera Hill took on “Chain of Fools.” 51-year-old Geoff claimed he had a better chance because he grew up on the music they were singing, and he backed up that confidence by blowing away Lionel Richie.

The battle rounds on The Voice are always intense, but the March 12 episode packs a particularly emotional punch, as best friends Jamar Rogers and Jamie Lono prepare to face off. “It sucks,” Jamie admitted on the Today show. “We became friends during the blind auditions; I call this guy my little brother.”
