In her personal blog, LeAnn talks about what it’s like to be a stepmom to her hubby Eddie’s two boys: ‘I will never replace their mother, I would never try. I will however love them with all I have!’

LeAnn Rimes, 29, is trying hard to figure out how to play the role of stepmother to her 38-year-old hubby Eddie Cibrian‘s two young sons Mason, 8 and Jake, 4. In a new personal blog, LeAnn addresses the hardships on how to handle the role and also talks about how she is dealing with the change.

“It’s not easy being a stepparent, taking on a mother or father role in your new blended family and household,” LeAnn confesses. “It can be incredibly intimidating. It’s one of the most challenging positions to be in as a parent and a child.  As a parent you try everything in your power to make it easy on the kids, to make them feel like there’s more love than they could ever imagine, not less.”

LeAnn knows that there are many challenges she must deal with like “two households with different rules, many different personalities and opinions that can pose issues” — but she reminds other stepparents that “it’s important to take the highroad for the kids’ sake and ultimately for your own.”

“There are questions and sometimes the answers are simple, sometimes not,” she continues. “There’s confusion from a stepparent’s perspective: ‘Where do I step in? When do I step out?’ There are the children you want to keep shielded from any negativity that might arise and the biological parent in your household, in my case Eddie, that you never want to let feel like a single parent.”

But LeAnn’s trying her hardest to make it work. “Eddie’s sons, I treat as if they are my own,” she explains. “Trust me, it’s sometimes hard to wrap my mind around. It takes time to get to know your new family and them you. It takes time to get used to going between two worlds for these kids. One thing I know, is that I will never replace their mother, I would never try. I will however love them with all I have”

“These two little boys came into my life for a reason and I think I came into theirs for a reason too. And through all the challenges I speak of, we’ve found an amazing relationship full of laughter, respect and love. It’s beyond rewarding to be able to help Eddie raise the boys and shape their lives. I take my role very seriously and I’m proud of the peaceful, loving environment Eddie and I have created for our family in our household.  Society will always call me a stepmom, the boys will call me Le, but in our house, in our family, we remove the ‘step.’ We really are all… simply family.”

A court has even ordered Brandi to return 65 percent of the money that Eddie paid in child support back to him. “He worked a little but only made a little,” says the source. “Now Brandi has to give him a bunch of money back. From now on, the child support payments will be half of what was originally agreed on.”

Brandi and the boys — Mason, 7, and Jake, 3 — may also be forced to relocate to a new home because she won’t be able to afford the rent of their current house.

So excited to now share the wonderful news with our fans.”

While LeAnn and Eddie’s reps have not responded to HollyBaby‘s requests for comment, it’s clear the singer is more than ready to be a mom. The 28-year-old has already started practicing her parenting duties with 37-year-old Eddie’s two sons, Mason, 7, and Jake, 3. “It’s been an exciting holiday for them,” the source tells HollyBaby. “LeAnn spoiled Eddie’s kids on Christmas and now she can’t wait to spoil her own child. She considers Eddie’s boys her own and treats them like her own.”

And when it comes to having a younger brother or sister, the boys seem quite excited. “She asked them if they wanted a brother or a sister and the decision is split,” the insider explains. “Mason wants another brother and Jake wants a sister.”

It’s LeAnn Rimes’ first Christmas with Eddie Cibrian‘s kids Mason, 7, and Jake, 3, and she’s making sure she makes a lasting impression! In Touch Weekly is reporting that the country crooner really splurged on the kids, spending about $20,000 on presents for the boys — getting them everything they asked for and more!

“LeAnn bought them just about anything you could think of — matching electric cars, practically every appropriate video game, a ping-pong table, games, clothes, books and so much more,” a friend tells InTouch. “She must have spent more than $10,000 on each kid. She loves them and wants to spoil them.”

LeAnn also wants to make sure she’s ready for a kiddie Christmas! “Eddie’s going to introduce me to the kid tradition,” LeAnn recently said. “I’ve never had two kids running around on Christmas morning. The singer/actress has taken to Twitter to defend herself against claims that she’s trying to replace the boys’ mom, Brandi Glanville. But is she doing anything wrong by claiming her boyfriend’s sons as her own?

LeAnn Rimes has been dating Eddie Cibrian for close to 18 months, but when she referred to his two sons, Mason, 7, and Jake, 3, as “my boys,” was she trying to shove their mom, Eddie’s ex-wife Brandi Glanville, out of the picture? Or was LeAnn, 27, just showing how much the boys mean to her and how protective she is of her boyfriend’s kids?

“Please remember those ‘boys’ have a Mother,” a fan wrote to her on Twitter. “It seems you don’t give credit to that.”

“I do,” LeAnn replied, “but it doesn’t mean I can’t share our happiness. Please remember I’m a part of their lives too. Seems people don’t give credit to that.”

“It’s a very sensitive subject,” Dr. Susan Abbott, a child psychiatrist at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “Someone can be hurt in this situation and it doesn’t really matter who, because tension will be felt throughout the family system. If the couple has been together for a long time, as [Eddie and LeAnn] have, then it might be OK, assuming she’s been very involved in the kids’ lives to a great extent.”

The big question, according to Dr. Abbott, is where Brandi, the boys’ mother, stands on the idea. “How on board is she? It can be very disruptive and test a child’s loyalties, but it also really depends on the parents’ relationship with each other, the stage of the breakup of the old family unit and the build up of the new one.”

Eddie, 37, shares custody of the boys with his ex-wife, who filed for divorce last year after he hooked up with LeAnn on the set of their Lifetime movie, Northern Lights. Before filing for divorce, Brandi accused LeAnn of being a “stalker,” but we’re assuming the bitterness she felt over the breakup of her marriage has cooled somewhat as she recently let the boys move into LeAnn’s home with their dad.

Dr. Abbott prefers to think that LeAnn had the best of intentions when she referred to Mason and Jake as her own. “Taken out of context, of course, it’s hard to judge,” she said. “It could be seen as showing how much she values the boys. Or it could be seen as thoughtless or hurtful, but I’m sure she didn’t mean it that way.”
