As Newtown, CT., and the country as a whole, continues to process the horror of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre that took place on Friday, Dec. 14, leaving 20 children and six adults dead, one of the first victims has been laid to rest. Jack Pinto, who was just six years old when he tragically lost his life, was buried in Newtown on Dec. 17.

The youngster, who was a huge sports fan, was buried in the jersey of Victor Cruz, his favorite New York Giants player. It’s been reported that the funeral home wasn’t large enough to accomodate the number of families who turned up hoping to pay their respects to little Jack, with many having to stand out in the cold and rain while waiting to honor the young boy.

Noah Pozner and Jack Pinto, both six years old, were among the 20 children killed Friday morning, Dec.14 during the devastating shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.  Services for both of the boys were held earlier today.

Noah’s family and friends gathered at the Abraham L. Green & Son Funeral Home in Fairfield, CT. The burial was followed at B’nai Israel Cemetery in Monroe.

Noah’s twin sister, Arielle, survived the deadly assault when her teacher hid her class in the bathroom.

Jack’s services were held at Honan Funeral Home in Newtown, followed by a burial at Newtown Village Cemetery.

According to Good Morning America,  Jack was a huge New York Giants fan.  After hearing this, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz wrote “R.I.P. Jack Pinto,” “Jack Pinto, my hero,” and “This one is 4 U!” on his cleats and gloves before playing the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, Dec. 16. Prior to the game, Victor tweeted the photos, along with his condolences.

Victor told reporters that he had been in contact with the Pinto family — and they informed him that they planned on burying their son in Victor’s No. 80 Giants jersey.

“There are no words that can describe the type of feeling you get when a kid idolizes you so much that, you know, unfortunately they put him in a casket with your jersey on,” Victor said.

“I also spoke to an older brother and he was distraught as well. I told him to stay strong and I was going to do whatever I can to honor him,” he added. “He was fighting tears and could barely speak to me.”

Victor said he plans to give the gloves he wore during the game to the Jack’s family.

Victor also revealed that he kept his 11-month-old daughter, Kennedy, extra close to him after hearing about the tragedy.

“We slept together that night,” he said, “and it was a good feeling. It was one that I cherished.”
