Last time we heard from J.R. Martinez, he was triumphantly holding his giant mirror ball trophy for his season 13 Dancing With the Stars win (oh, and PS: We totally predicted it!) It’s another moment of bliss for J.R. and his girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones, as they’re welcoming a new bundle of joy to their family! 

Lauryn Anabelle Martinez was born on May 2 in Los Angeles, PEOPLE reports. She weighed 7 lbs., 13 oz. and is 21 inches long.

“She’s already got a nickname — Belle,” Martinez, 28, tells PEOPLE, adding, ”she has a couple of cute little freckles on her cheeks, a full head of hair and the cutest little lips.”

Prior to his DWTS fame, J.R. was an Iraq war vet and had a role on All My Children in 2008.

Dancing With The Stars alum J.R. Martinez announced he’s going to be a first-time dad with girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones, and he revealed to reporters at the 2012 SAG Awards that he’s going to teach his child to dance! “Absolutely, once Nancy Grace found out she was like, ‘Is this going to be a Mirror Ball baby?’” he revealed.

J.R. also dished on the news about fellow dancing celeb Kristen Cavallari is expecting, too. “Yeah! What’s in the water?” he exclaimed. “There is something in the water! I know her and Jay got back together and that is great for them. We will have to put both our kids in a dancing school.”

The couple is ready for their baby girl. “We are tossing around a couple [names] but not set on anything, there has been no fights about that yet,” J.R. explained. “It’s been pretty fun!”

As for raising a girl over a boy, J.R. says there’s a lot more to worry about. “Girls, there is so much that goes with them,” he explained. “Boys, I think, I mean I don’t know, are easier. Just throw them out in the world, and they figure it out. Girls, there is so much more that goes into it — beauty products, you got to learn about routines, worry about dating and emotions.”

But he won’t necessarily be a strict dad. “I think every guy thinks they will be, but when that little girl comes out its a different story,” he said. “I will try to be, hopefully we will teach her to have a good eye on those things.”

For now, though, the couple are just preparing for her arrival rather than make marriage plans. “Yeah, we have talked about it, but she made it very clear and she said she isn’t walking down the aisle with a bump,” he revealed. “So we will wait for the baby to come out and she wants her body back and I want my body back.”

Congrats, J.R.! The Iraq war vet and his girlfriend are expecting their first child together!

J.R. Martinez is having quite the year! Last month he took home the trophy on Dancing With The Stars, and now he’s announced that he’ll be a first-time dad with girlfriend Diana Gonzalez-Jones next spring! “We found out just last week it’s a girl, and we are over the moon,” he revealed to People. “Diana has a little baby bump now, and it’s the cutest thing ever. With the holidays coming up, this is the biggest and best gift we could get.”

The 28-year-old met Diana when he appeared on All My Children in 2008. She was an assistant to the soap’s executive producer, and the two became good friends and started dating last year.

“We were so good as friends that romantically, we just clicked right away,” Diana said. “There was no adjustment period.”

J.R. can’t believe what a great year it’s been for him: “2011 has been full of a lot of surprises and opportunities and ultimately, a lot of blessings,” he said. “Diana and I were just asking ourselves, ‘How is 2012 going to top 2011?’ Well, we have our answer!”

Going into tonight’s Dancing with the Stars finale, I was content with two people winning: J.R. Martinez or Rob Kardashian — and low and behold, my dream came true!

Ricki Lake was quickly named the third place contestant, leaving the two guys. If you’ve read my recaps before, you knew I’ve pulled for J.R. to win from the first week. I feel like he’s danced with the most heart and had the best technique out of everyone. Plus, he didn’t have the fame thing working in his favor. No one knew who he was before this whole ordeal.

Meanwhile, I wasn’t Team Rob at all, up until a couple weeks ago. After a season of mediocrity, the 24-year-old reality star transformed into this confident, graceful dancer. I was impressed. Nevertheless, I felt like it wasn’t fair for Rob to have all his family — with millions of followers — pushing for votes.

That’s why when J.R. was crowned winner tonight, I was stoked. He was the underdog all season and deserved this win more than anyone.

Kim Kardashhian wasn’t kidding when she tweeted that her brother’s first dance of the night was his best. Rob Kardashian‘s Samba performance with Cheryl Burke even made his mother Kris Jenner tear up!

Rob Kardashian: Rob’s butt action during the Samba earned him some major points. “Bootylicious,” Carrie Ann Inaba said. 10,9,9=28/30. Rob wowed the crowd and the judges with his Argentine Tango, his second dance of the evening, with Len saying, ” You started as a goofy outsider, now your’e looking like a leading man!” 9,9,9=27/30. Rob and Cheryl won the third and final dance, the Cha Cha Relay, giving them an extra 10 points. Their total score: 67

Ricki Lake: Ricki’s Samba performance with Derek Hough earned the duo a perfect score (10,10,10) with Len saying, “You have just taken a step into the finals!” Ricki’s Argentine Tango earned her another top score (10,10,9). “Ricki, I don’t think you know how good you are,” said Len. Ricki and Derek came in second with their Cha Cha relay performance, giving them an extra 8 points. Total score: 67

J.R. Martinez: He may be the best dancer in the competition, but poor J. R. suffered a major setback when he twisted his ankle during rehearsals. His first performance of the Paseo Doble with Karina Smirnoff earned him his lowest score to date: 23 points, 8,7,8. “I know you suffered an injury, but we can only call it as we see it,” Len said. Carrie Ann said that J.R.’s posture was compromised by his twisted ankle. But we think he earned a perfect score with his optimistic attitude! J.R. made a comeback with his second performance The Argentine Tango scoring 9-9-9. You could tell by the look on J.R.’s face that he was in a lot of pain, but he still managed to capture the third spot in the Cha Cha Relay which gave him an extra 6 points. Total score: 56

Hope Solo: Hope was in so much pain during rehearsals, she decided to get shots that she had been saving for the Olympics.
The judges thought Hope was too aggressive during her first performance of the Paso Doble with Max. 7, 7, 7. Hope did a little better with her second performance earning 8,8,8 and came in last with her Cha Cha Relay performance. Total score: 49

The brilliant aspect of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars is both the judges’ scores AND audiences votes come into play week to week as contestants are eliminated — and boy, did America want to keep Chaz Bono around for another week!

Even though he placed on the very bottom of the score board two weeks in a row, the first transgender contestant on DWTS managed to hold on for one more week — which meant that The Hills star Kristin Cavallari and her partner, Mark Ballas, who consistently placed near the top, were given the boot.

“I’m a little surprised, to be honest, but I’ve had such a great time, and I’ve had an awesome experience, so it is what it is,” the 24-year-old reality starlet told Brooke Burke after the show.

Meanwhile, Chaz tweeted, “This is the most amazing experience. #SAFE #DWTS.”

Chynna Phillips has certainly made a come back! Within this last year, the 43-year-old singer made a memorable cameo with her group Wilson Phillips in the hit film, Bridesmaids, and now she’s taking the dance floor by storm on Dancing with the Stars. HollywoodLife.com caught up with Chynna last week and she told us how she’s getting along with her fellow contestants — and who she considers to be her biggest competition!

“It’s obviously J.R.[Martinez],” she said. “He’s just so naturally gifted as a dancer. He’s just got an incredible spirit. He’s so enigmatic. He enters the room and everyone is smiling. If I had to lose the ocmpetition to somebody, it would be him.”

In week one, Chynna and J.R. tied for first place, each scoring 22/30. Unfortunately for them, they were squelched the following week by Ricki Lake; however, the talented dancers were still only one point away from each other.

Chynna also said she’s made unexpected an friend on the show with one girl in particular.

“Kristin Cavallari is my new BFF,” she said. “I just love that girl. She’s so nice. She’s so down to earth. So real.”

The thirteenth season of Dancing with the Stars is in full motion, with the stars and their professional dancers rehearsing as intensely as they can to blow the competition out of the water. However, as of now, an on-set insider tells us there are two stars in particular who shine the brightest on the dance floor.

“Kristin Cavallari and J.R. Martinez are the best so far,” our source dishes to HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “It just seems to come naturally to them.”

Kristin, 24, seems like she certainly has the build for a dance competition, while J.R., a 28-year-old former soldier, actor and spokesperson, has the drive.

However, it’s not going as smoothly for all the competitors.

“David Arquette, Chaz Bono and Ricki Lake are all working the hardest, but they aren’t as strong of dancers,” our source admits.

Meanwhile, certain stars have already won the hearts of their competition — even if their moves aren’t super saucy. “David, Chaz, Hope Solo and Ron Artest are definitely people who stick out as being incredibly cool and super nice to everyone so far. I’d say they are the most genuine,” our source says.

The insider adds, “But George Clooney‘s ex, Elisabetta Canalis, needs to get out of her shell. She’s rubbing people the wrong way. Mostly it’s just how shy she is — she’s stand-offish. But hopefully, she’ll warm up to people.”
