The ‘Girl Next Door’ star knew Hef didn’t want kids and she was scared she’d miss out on the chance to be a mom one day –  so she sneaked off and had some eggs put on ice!

Now she’s moved on and found love with director Nicholas Carpenter, Bridget Marquadt, 37, is thinking about babies — and considers her harvested eggs an ‘insurance policy.’ What a good idea!

“I had my eggs harvested a few years ago,” Bridget explains to Star magazine. “I was at the mansion and I knew that kids were something I would like to have someday. And it didn’t look like there would be kids anytime in my near future. So I did something to kind of insure I have a little more time.”

Bridget was the oldest of 85-year-old Hugh Hefner‘s three girlfriends at the time — she shared the Playboy Mansion with Holly Madison, 31, and Kendra Wilkinson, 26 — so harvesting her eggs seems like a pretty sensible idea!

Two-and-a-half years after she left the mansion, Bridget hasn’t given up hope of having a baby naturally — the eggs are just a back-up!

She adds, “If I decide I want a baby and I’m having problems, then I have that extra chance.”

The Sadlers refused to let the bizarre medical phenomenon stop them from starting a family – and in December they became parents to twin baby daughters!

Rachael and Mark Sadler spent nearly a decade — and their life savings – traveling the globe, trying different fertility treatments to help them start a family, only to discover not only was she allergic to her husband’s sperm — her body was riddled with ‘killer cells’ that were destroying their babies!

The Sadlers started trying for babies soon after marrying in 2002. When two years passed without any sign of a pregnancy, they sought help from fertility specialists in the UK.

Repeated attempts still brought no luck for the couple — so they decided to travel to the US to speak to experts there.

It was doctors in California who discovered Rachael was actually allergic to her husband’s sperm! In addition it was found she had an unusually high number of ‘killer cells’ in her uterus that were attacking any foreign object placed there.

The experts advised her to travel to Mexico, where she underwent Lymphocyte Immunization Therapy, to inject 40-year-old Mark’s white blood cells into his wife’s body.

After five sessions of the expensive treatment and another round of IVF, Rachael, 30, finally conceived twins in 2008 — only to miscarry them both after 14 weeks when the babies’ umbilical cords became tangled in her womb.

The devastated pair refused to give up and returned to the UK, where they embarked on their fifth bout of IVF in 2010 after yet more treatment to reduce the killer cells.

This time it worked! The pregnancy went smoothly and Rachael gave birth to twins Rebecca and Hazel in Coventry, England last December.

How did they stay so positive through all the devastating disappointment? Rachael explains, “I never accepted that I wouldn’t be a mother. I was determined to do anything I could to have a baby. And now I finally have my beautiful daughters, I feel complete. It has been worth all the heartache to have them with us after everything we have been through.”

Emotionally and physically exhausted by failed attempts at IVF, the TV couple have stopped trying for a baby.

Giuliana and Bill Rancic are desperate to be parents and their babymaking efforts have been documented on reality show ‘Guiliana & Bill’. Claire Anderson asked white witch Wendy Binks to cast a spell after doctors told her she had a BILLION-IN-ONE chance of conceiving naturally.

Sara Ottosson, a biology teacher from Stockholm, England, and her mother Eva Ottosson, are preparing to take part in a groundbreaking procedure. Eva, 56, will be the first woman in the world to transplant her womb into her own daughter, giving 25-year-old Sara the chance to carry her own child — in the same womb that carried her! INCREDIBLE!

Sara, who was born without reproductive organs, tells the Daily Telegraph that she isn’t the least bit concerned about being implanted with her own mother’s uterus.

“I haven’t really thought about that,” she explains. “I’m a biology teacher and it’s just an organ like any other organ. But my mum did ask me about this. She said, ‘Isn’t it weird?’ And my answer is no. I’m more worried that my mum is going to have a big operation.”

The transplant surgery will most likely take place next spring in Sweden and doctors are testing patients to see who is most suitable for this groundbreaking procedure. If Sara and Eva, who have been tested, are chosen to take part in the surgery, Sara’s eggs would be fertilized with her boyfriend’s sperm and then implanted into her new womb.

“She needs the womb and if I’m the best donor for her, well, go on,” Eva says. “She needs it more than me. I’ve had two daughters, so it’s served me well.”

Dr. Mats Brannstrom, who leads the medical team, said this operation is one of the most complicated, more so than a kidney, heart or liver transplant. It is harder to avoid hemorrhages due to the fact that you have to make sure the blood vessels are long enough to connect to the womb.

The only previous womb transplant was done in Saudi Arabia, where a 46-year-old woman donated her uterus to a 26-year-old who lost hers due to a hemorrhage. But the womb needed to be removed 99 days later because of complications.

“It would mean the world to me for this to work and to have children,” Sara explains. “At the moment, I am trying not to get my hopes up so that I am not disappointed.”

Khloe & Lamar are so desperate for babies, they’ve made the decision to try fertility treatment if they can’t conceive the natural way.

The couple have cranked up their baby-making campaign, first holing themselves up in a romantic resort over the holiday weekend, and then telling pals they’re FINALLY ready to try IVF.

“(Khloe) told me she’s been working with a doctor and a team of people to help her get pregnant,” a source close to the Kardashians tells Life & Style magazine. “She recently stepped things up and began exploring new method.

Another friend tells the magazine, “She’s asked about every possible way to help her infertility problems, like trying artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization. She really wants to get pregnant by the end of the year.”

But Khloe & Lamar hope they won’t need to resort to IVF. They never found time to take a honeymoon after they married in September 2009 — and they’re hoping a romantic break has been the missing link.

The couple escaped to the luxurious Montage Resort & Spa in Laguna Beach, California over Memorial Day for some serious alone time!

Moms are risking their lives and the health of their babies by trying for twins and triplets during fertility treatment.

Experts want IVF couples to reduce the number of embryos they implant, in a bid to dramatically slash the rate of stillborn babies and infants born with eye and brain damage.

Doctors have traditionally implanted multiple embryos in moms undergoing IVF, because it increases the chances of successful conception.

But it also increases the chance of multiple births, and experts are concerned that a half of all twins and 90 percent of triplets are born prematurely.

Frighteningly, the risk of premature babies dying in the first week of life is around five times higher for twins and nine times higher for triplets than single babies.

Moms carrying multiple babies are also more likely to suffer miscarriages, anemia, hemorrhage, early labor and need a Caesarean section. Maybe this explains why IVF mom Celine Dion lost one of her triplets last year.

Health chiefs in the UK are already pushing to drive down the number of embryos implanted — and have seen a reduction in the number of twins and triplets born to IVF moms from 24 percent in 2008 to 22 percent in 2009.

Researchers at the University of Montreal are now urging the U.S. and Canada to follow suit.

Keith Barrington writes in the Journal of Pediatrics: “If you by chance have a premature baby and are unlucky enough to have that child suffer with complications, that’s one thing.”

“But to actually have a procedure that increases the chance of that happening is something that should be changed.”
