Evan Rachel Wood turned up at the The Ides Of March premiere in NYC on Oct. 5 where she worked the leather dress trend — although her Gucci Fall look seemed more like trench. Honestly, I can’t even appreciate the detailing on the frock, because her giant hat is so distracting! This totally proves my point — the floppy hat is best when paired with a casual chic look.

I appreciate the fact that the star loves to experiment, but in this case the look wasn’t a success! Do you agree? Does she look more like Carmen Sandiego than a major a-lister?

Ryan Gosling stars in the political thriller Ides of March alongside George Clooney — who also pulls quadruple duty as writer, director and producer on the film. Ryan excels as Stephen Myers, a young, idealistic press secretary for George’s Mike Morris, a presidential candidate in the midst of a tense primary race. Stephen’s ideals are put to the test as the campaign draws nearer to the all important Ohio primary. The movie is based on the play Farragut North. The cast also includes Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. Go see it, you won’t be disappointed.
