Harlow is her mommy’s makeup artist. “She’s very good at it,” says Nicole. Wow! We’re impressed — she’s only 3!

She’s the inspiration behind her mom Nicole Richie’s fashion line, but Harlow Madden has more fun with face paint. “She’s still too young to understand fashion, but she loves to play with my makeup and tries on my lipstick,” says Nicole, who is unveiling her House of Harlow 1960 collection during New York Fashion Week. HollyMoms, is it OK to let tots play with such grownup stuff? Vote!

Nicole’s 3-year-old daughter is a natural with it comes to the art of application. “She’s very good at it and very careful with it. She doesn’t go outside the lines – not even once,” brags Nicole, 29, who isn’t ashamed to admit she’s not so talented.

“I am the opposite. I’m the girl who can’t wear red lipstick because I’ll forget about it and it ends up on the side of my face. She may have to start teaching me to be more careful.”

Wonder how Harlow’s daddy, Joel Madden, feels about his little girl wearing makeup.

I was so upset to see the star step out in such a terrible get-up, especially because she went from so chic to so sloppy with her red carpet blunder!

If you told me Nicole Richie, a girl I think has a great sense of style, was wearing one of my favorite red carpet labels, Marchesa, I would be so excited — however, it was more like a bad nightmare when she showed up on the red carpet for the The Lynda & Stewart Resnick Exhibition Gala at LACMA in LA on Sept. 25.

Not only was the frock made up of way too much fabric for the petite star, but it wouldn’t have been so bad if it didn’t have those black strips of fabric draped across the top of the gown — she looked like a reject Christmas present that never made it to it’s rightful owner, wrapped up in a tattered bow. Paired with Christian Louboutin‘s, luckily she kept her accessorizing simple.

While it was hard to look at the star in what appeared to be a bad Halloween costume, only a few hours earlier she looked so chic when she stepped out to promote her Winter Kate clothing line at Nordstrom’s in LA. Wearing a short, black high-waisted skirt and jewelry from her line and shoes from House of Harlow she was all decked out in her own creations and looked absolutely adorable — I can’t believe just a few hours later she had such a style slip-up!

I guess it just goes to show that even the super stylish Boho queen herself is human and sometimes pulls out a questionable get-up. I just hope the next time we see her step out she recovers from this bad red carpet blunder! What did you think of her two looks in one day?

Does Nicole want to be J.Lo? What do you think?!

It looks like Nicole Richie is totally channeling J.Lo — not only did she cut and dye her hair just like the lovely Latina, she also debuted her brand new ‘do wearing the same exact dress!, J. Lo wore this white L’Wren Scott strapless ensemble in NYC on April 1, while Nicole showed up in Costa Mesa on Dec. 12 working the same exact look, right down do the hairstyle. Who do you think is working this white dress best? Would you be flattered or flabbergasted if someone showed up in a stylish look so similar to yours?

Considering the similarities in both looks one thing’s for sure–this is a tough face-off!

She’s a blonde no more! Nicole Richie debuted her new darker locks last night at the launch of her new jewelry line, House of Harlow 1960, at the Bloomingdale’s South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, California. She sent out a few tweets from the event, then remembered it was the first time fans were seeing her new ‘do! “OH! & P.S. I went brunette,” she then tweeted. “I feel smarter already!”

The mother of two definitely looks more serious, and maybe that’s what she was going for with this darker shade! She’s got some serious ventures in the works, after all. Not only is she busy with House of Harlow, but she’s also working on her second novel and a scripted comedy series for ABC! 

We’re so happy to be see you achieving this success, Nicole. And even happier just seeing you so happy!
