Hiroshi Yamauchi (born on November 7, 1927 in Kyoto, Japan) was a Japanese businessman. He was the third president of Nintendo, which his grandfather founded, joining the company in 1949 and officially stepping down in May 2002. Nintendo reached unimaginable heights during Hiroshi’s tenure, as he oversaw the releases of Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Gameboy, N64, and GameCube. Hiroshi was also the owner of the MLB team, the Seattle Mariners for a short period, buying the team in 1992 before being bought out by Nintendo of America in 2004. On September 19, 2013, Hiroshi died of pneumonia.

Personal Life:
Hiroshi Yamauchi married Michiko Inaba in 1945. They had their first child, Yoko, together in 1950. Michiko gave birth to another daughter, Fujiko, in 1957 and soon after, a son named Katsuhito. Hiroshi’s wife and three children were all still alive when he passed away.
