Color me not surprised. Ivy’s (Gillian Zinser) little trip to see Diego (Yani Gellman) in Mexico has turned into a permanent vacation, as TVLine.com reports that Gillian will not be featured on 90210‘s upcoming fifth season.

While it’s nice to have confirmation of Gillian’s exit, I can’t say I’m at all shocked that Ivy won’t be back next season. In my recap of the season finale, I said my goodbyes to her — OK, my exact words were “good riddance” — and I assumed we wouldn’t be seeing her again. Personally, I think Ivy’s day in the sun should have ended after she married Raj (Manish Dayal), as her season-five story lines were just tragedy (divorce) after tragedy (Raj’s death) after tragedy (Diego’s deporation.)

Maybe she can finally find happiness in Mexico.

After months away from 90210, Raj (Manish Dayal) is returning for the show’s March 20 episode — but sadly, he won’t be around for long. Ivy (Gillian Zinser) learns that her estranged husband is still battling cancer, and as leaked funeral photos revealed, she only has a small window of time in which to say goodbye. “It’s a very emotional arc for Ivy and it involves her whole crew of friends,” Michael Steger, who plays Navid, tells HollywoodLife.com. ”It’s pretty dark for a few episodes.”

Michael’s character returns for the March 27 episode, “Blue Ivy,” when Ivy is already deep in depression — as the title suggests.

But Michael says Ivy isn’t the only person rattled by Raj’s tragic death.

“It’s really going to affect a lot of people,” Michael says, adding that Manish was “a great asset to the show” and will be missed on set.

I literally lost track of the number of emotional, dramatic speeches made by Liam (Matt Lanter) on the Sept. 27 episode of 90210 — but it’s OK, because he delivered them all with poise, beauty, and perfectly side-swept bangs. Though something tells me Annie (Shenae Grimes) didn’t quite appreciate his speech to her as much as I did, considering it ended with “I’ll always love you…” but we should really break up.

And the night took an even darker turn for Annie when she learned she’s, basically, becoming a prostitute. These super-creepy Turkish guys paid her and her friend to spend the night with them, and since Annie kissed one of them on the dance floor, they technically paid for a sexual favor — though, if you ask me, they didn’t really get their money’s worth.

Side note: Liam’s new lady friend Jane (Kristina Apgar) is with child. But before you freak out, it’s not Liam’s. It belongs to his dead friend — her dead husband — who, honestly, I’m kind of thinking isn’t really dead. Mark my words: He’ll be back, even if he has to crawl out of the sea!

Meanwhile in the business world, Navid (Michael Steger) made some bad, bad choices. When he discovered his uncle was using Shirazi Studios to run a stolen car ring, he could have told his business partners — Dixon (Tristan Wilds) and Silver (Jessica Stroup) — the truth. But no. Instead he canceled Dixon’s meeting with that big-time music producer, Juice Randall, and told Silver he didn’t want to work with her. Navid had better watch his back, too, because Dixon’s popping pills. Like, crazy pills.

And then, of course, there were the sorority wars. Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) paid her way into a dumpy sorority and made the girls over, House Bunny-style, so she’d have an army with which take down Holly (Megalyn Echikunwoke). And despite a few bumps in the road — for one thing, the girls didn’t appreciate Naomi referring to them as “losers” — they agreed to help her

But Holly has an army of her own, and they discovered Naomi’s Achilles heel — Max (Josh Zuckerman)! Methinks the nerd is finally coming back into the picture…

Remember all those really interesting, juicy plot twists that came about at the end of 90210‘s third season — like Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) being pregnant and Annie (Shenae Grimes) inheriting a butt-load of money? I hope you weren’t as into them as I was, because the fourth season premiere pretty much wiped the whole slate clean.

For starters, Annie lost out on her inheritance and had to defer from Carnegie Mellon for a semester. This led her to the hallowed halls of California University — and straight into the arms of Jeremy (Matt Cohen.)

Liam (Matt Lanter) returned from his big fishing expedition, but after Annie turned down TWO of his proposals, her knight in shining side-swept bangs got fed up with her. He sauntered over to a nearby beach bar, got drunk and ended up buying the place for $25,000. (Looks like we’ve got ourselves a new Peach Pit!)

Desperate to get to the top of the CU food chain, Naomi — who is not pregnant — bought herself a big-ass mansion to throw parties at. The downside? Her new pad came equipped with a pot-bellied pig and a smart-mouth cowboy named Austin (Justin Deeley) who also served as the resident pot-grower.

But hey, that’s good news for Naomi’s fellow tenants Ivy (Gillian Zinser) and Raj (Manish Dayal). Sorry, did I forget to mention they live there with her? Because they do.

And speaking of random house guests, Navid’s (Michael Steger) little sister decided to stay in Beverly Hills to finish out her senior year — their mom moved to Switzerland, joining the rest of the show’s parents in whatever black hole they’ve disappeared into — so she’ll be shacking up with them at Silver’s (Jessica Stroup) house this season.

OK, back to Naomi! Her little coming out party started off great — bonfires, shirtless valet workers, etc. — but it quickly went up in flames. Literally. When the cops showed up to bust her for a noise complaint, she tossed Austin’s pot into the bonfire to hide it from them. You can probably guess what happened next: The feds cuffed her and carted her off to jail. Plus, everybody at the party got super-duper high.

But wait, I saved the best (aka most bat-s**t) for last! Everyone’s favorite pill-meddling psychopath Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) showed up to Naomi’s party and got quite the tongue lashing from our girl Silver. It was something to the effect of “You’re dead to me,” which reminded me of her little tiff with Naomi back in season one. Austin, however, wasn’t quite through with Adrianna. He lent her a sympathetic ear, which obviously led to a sympathetic shirt to wear the morning after.

Ladies and gentlemen, the bitch is back.

The just-released photos from the upcoming fourth season of 90210 bring to mind the words of a pink-headed Frenchie in Grease: “The gang’s all back together!” Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), Annie (Shenae Grimes), Teddy (Trevor Donovan) and the rest of the crew may have left the hallowed halls of West Bev, but as you might expect, the same ol’ drama isn’t far behind.

Silver (Jessica Stroup) and Navid (Michael Steger) seem to remain a major focus in season four, and while most of these new pics show them acting lovey-dovey, there’s one super-dramatic shot that has me worried. That and the highly unwelcome presence of All-drama Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes) make me think “Nilver” is in for some trouble.

It also looks like Ivy’s (Gillian Zinser) new hubby Raj (Manish Dayal) has lost all of his hair in chemotherapy. I kind of thought the whole dying-husband story line was a little dark for 90210, and I’m curious as to which direction they decide to take it in next season.

Nothing else really jumps out at me — besides, of course, the fact that Naomi couldn’t possibly look any less pregnant — but like the rest of you, I can’t wait to see what shenanigans 90210 has in store for us.

The long-awaited second coming of Silver‘s (Jessica Stroup) bipolar madness came on the April 25 episode of 90210, and while her freakout wasn’t quite as violent as it was in season one — no wine bottles was hurled, and no garbage cans were set ablaze — it did have serious consequences for Silver‘s future. And her hair.

Though the newly red-headed Silver aced her interview with the representative from New York University, she totally blew her chances for acceptance by calling him about 1,000 times afterwards with every random thought in her head. Damn you, Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes!)

Somehow, Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) managed to go even crazier than Silver this week. When she learned her nerdy boy-toy Max (Josh Zuckerman) would be shacking up with a brainy girl for the annual academic decathlon, she went crazy on her… which resulted in Naomi having to take her place on the team.

And while Naomi was simply supposed to sit there and be quiet, she couldn’t help putting her well-intended-but-ultimately-terrible two cents in, offering up an answer to the final question. Max gave her the benefit of the doubt, ignoring the urgings of his fellow teammates, and it ended up costing West Bev the competition. But did that little misstep spell the end of Naomi and Max? Of course not! The couple is now stronger than ever, and they ended the episode by walking the halls arm-in-arm.

Ivy’s (Gillian Zinser) fear of the sea also came back into the picture this week, and her ill-fated boyfriend Raj (Manish Dayal) decided to help her conquer it by pretending to drown. But instead of thanking him for helping her overcome her fear, she stormed (…actually swam) off in a huff.

And three cheers for Annie (Shenae Grimes) FINALLY getting an interesting storyline! She’s now under the tutelage of Hollywood “legend” Marla (Sally Kellerman), an old woman who needs Annie to clean her house and “get her affairs in order.” It didn’t take long for Annie to learn what that REALLY meant: Marla plans to commit physician-assisted suicide. Sad…

By now, you’ve probably heard that one of West Bev’s finest will be walking down the aisle by the end of 90210‘s third season. You probably also know who that person is, and who they’re getting hitched to. What you don’t know, however, is exactly how the big proposal will go down — and that’s where HollywoodLife.com comes in…

OK, it’s spoiler time:

Ivy (Gillian Zinser) and Raj (Manish Dayal) are indeed the matrimony-bound couple, as leaked reports have already revealed, but they don’t necessarily make this decision in the most traditional way. In fact, it all begins with Raj proposing a threesome with a waitress at prom — and we went straight to Gillian to clear up the many online rumors:

“[The threesome] is Raj’s way of trying to not get too close to Ivy,” Gillian tells us exclusively. “He’s trying to protect her from becoming so attached to someone who’s going to ultimately leave her. Ivy’s obviously less than thrilled … and that’s her moment to come forward and tell him how she really feels. It’s her first real true love, and their relationship is riddled with this looming expiration date.”

And it sounds like Ivy’s big confession triggers a love-fest of epic proportions:

“Raj ends up really understanding that this is the girl who wants to be with him through the good, the bad and the ugly,” Gillian says. “His proposal to spend the rest of his life, which has its own meaning, comes in. So it’s not a traditional proposal, down on one knee. It’s more like: These are two kids know they won’t be together for long, so why not spend as much time together as possible?”

So what can we expect from the actual wedding? Gillian remains wisely tight-lipped on Ivy and Raj’s nuptials, but she did promise that viewers will be amazed at how so many elements of a traditional Indian wedding are incorporated into the ceremony.

“It was the most spectacular set we’ve ever filmed,” she tells us. “It was just so beautiful. Everyone did a fabulous job with it. Everybody wanted to ride that damn elephant, poor guy.”

It was the moment you’ve all been waiting for: Silver (Jessica Stroup) managed to get one more kiss out of Teddy (Trevor Donovan) before he came to his senses and told her there was “someone else,” all while making google-y eyes at his down-low bro Ian (Kyle Riabko.) Teddy seized an opportunity to get Ian alone, then seized Ian’s face. It was definitely a “whoa there now” moment, and it caused all viewers to pause. And rewind. And play again.

Now let’s talk about the Franken-celebrity formerly known as Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes.) Now that her single is doing well, she’s become some kind of freakish Paris/Lindsay/Kim K. hybrid whose every step is accompanied by a TMI-tweet. I miss the real Adrianna. You know, the pill-popping, baby-having head case who still managed to really deserve Navid (Michael Steger.)

Speaking of wacky girls, Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) lied to some guy named Zac and told him she could surf, which of course was all part of a clever ruse to lure him into her lady zone. He was kind of pissed for five minutes, but he got over it. I think it’s love.

And the award for Most Annoying Character Ever, formerly held by Ivy (Gillian Zinser), now goes to Liam’s (Matt Lanter) semi-psychotic sugar mama Laura. For realz, if I had to listen to her yap about her ex named Dex — yes, she’s so annoying that she actually rhymes – one more time, I was going to pull an Emily Valentine and set my TV on fire.

Last, and most certainly grossest, was the continuation of Mama Deb (Lori Loughlin) and Professor Ryan’s (Ryan Eggold) love affair. I’m not totally against them as a couple — heck, the characters need something to do — but I would appreciate them not having sex in a public bathroom anymore. Especially not while she’s already on a date with another guy.

OK I’ve had a lot of fun with this, but this was a pretty good episode. Still, I’ll never stop crossing my fingers and hoping we haven’t seen the last of my personal favorite little whack job, Jasper.
