Alex Pettyfer: Why He IS Christian Grey

First of all, he sure looks the part! Alex has the tousled wavy brown hair, Adonis-like face and sculptured chest and body that E.L. James described in her enormously popular Fifty Shades trilogy.

He’s also got the dangerously sexy attitude that emanates from Christian and lures the heroine, Anastasia Steele, and other women to him — like bees to honey.

He also happens to look pretty darn perfect in a crisp white dress shirt and fitted navy suit, ahem, just like the fictional Christian Grey!

At 23, he’s a few years younger than 27-year-old Christian, but he does look and project older.

Alex’s Competition — Who He Beat Out For The Role

Alex was up against some tough competition for the coveted but daring role: Ian Somerhalder, Robert Pattinson, Alexander Skarsgard and Liam Hemsworth had all been named as potential leads.

While HollywoodLifers voted Rob as their top choice for the sensual role, E.L. James made it clear that she sadly didn’t want to work with either of the Twilight stars — Rob or Kristen Stewart.

Alex, who has already shown off his impressive chest in Magic Mike and has starred in Beastly and I Am Number Four, looks like he’d be ready to take on the serious challenges of the Christian Grey role.

We’re talking nudity and indulging in almost non-stop sadomasochistic sex scenes in the infamous Red Room of Pain … and just about everywhere else!

In fact, Alex will have to get VERY comfortable handling a paddle, a whip, handcuffs, feathers, blindfolds, etc. etc. etc.

Not all actors could ‘master’ the frequent, highly-erotic sex scenes that Alex will need to indulge in as Christian.

I have to say, Alex has the look of a man, who could, shall we say, rise to the occasion!

But What About Anastasia Steele?

The scene in question — filmed with an unidentified Anastasia  – features Christian taking his lover’s virginity. We’re sure it was CRAZY hot and cemented his status as a frontrunner for the part.

Considering the book has sold millions of copies around the world, we’re sure that the film will be a blockbuster smash!

Director Gus Van Sant, who is best known for films like Good Will Hunting, and Milk, is did a test scene for the movie. Gus picked the 23-year-old actor to play Christian Grey in the test film. He reportedly filmed an erotic sex scene!

The best-selling book, written by E.L. James, has been the topic of conversation since it first came out in 2011. What makes Alex so hot? He recently starred in Magic Mike, alongside Matthew Mcconaughey, and played a male stripper!

But, just because Gus used Alex in the test film, it doesn’t mean he is a lock for the role. The book has sold more than 70 million copies, which means it’s bound to top at the box office. Whoever they pick better be the right choice to play Christian.

We keep saying that we hope Kristen Stewart will play Anastasia Stelle but there are other names floating around. Perhaps Emma Watson, famous for her role in Harry Potter, will play the part. Fifty Shades of Grey has become so popular that the novel has already been spoofed! In Scary Movie 5, Ashley Tisdale plays Jody, a woman who is haunted by a ghost named “Mama” while babysitting her nieces. To figure out Mama’s identity, Jody goes into an Inception-like dream, but instead of finding the ghost, she finds sexy Christian Grey, the title character from the novel.

Jodie Finds Christian’s Red Room

In the dream, Jody appears outside of Christian’s hotel room. Christian, played by Jerry O’Connell, opens the door and invites her in, but suddenly the sexy fantasy goes south when Christian reveals one of his flaws.

“Like my blue room?” he asks as he pours Jodie some champagne.

“It’s red,” she replies.

“Oh I’m color blind. My decorator assured me — nevermind. Champagne?” asks Christian.

He hands her a glass that has pinching clamps attached to it! Christian anxiously waits for her to take a sip, but the pair is suddenly interrupted — by Mike Tyson!

Stephen Amell, star of The CW show Arrow, revealed to all of his fans on Facebook that he’s “had a meeting” about the Fifty Shades Of Grey film adaptation. Is he Christian Grey? He does have those steely blue eyes!

Stephen’s coyness along with the fact that he admitted he’s actually had a meeting about the movie lead us to think that he might be playing Christian Grey! He wasn’t at the top of our list for potential actors to play the role, but now we can actually see it.

Anastasia Steele: Who Will Play Her?

Meanwhile, the search continues for Christian’s partner, Anastasia Steele, though it looked for a hot minute like the part had been cast. A report last week on Mar. 15 claimed that hackers obtained film studio documents confirming Emma Watson was playing Anastasia.

That all turned out to be false though, as Emma tweeted her own amazement at the rumor’s absurdity. “Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life,” she first tweeted on Mar. 16, followed by the tweet, “?” and one more saying, “Good. Well that’s sorted out then.”

The role of Ana Steele in 50 Shades of Grey requires a great deal of sex appeal, maturity and confidence. In my opinion, there are tons of actresses that could do this better than Emma Watson, the star who documents claim has been cast.

Universal Studios reported that the leaked statements that Emma had been confirmed for the role were completely false, and I’m thrilled about that.

Emma Watson Is Still Hermoine Granger

To me, Emma is still that little girl from Harry Potter who knows everything about wizardry.

I understand that actresses work hard to shake the image they once made for themselves on the screen – the way that Kristen Stewart is now trying to shake off fans’ ideas that she really is Bella Swan.

That may be what Emma is working to do, and why she wants to take on the extremely sexual role of Ana. However, people fell in love with Hermione, and watched her grow up in front of their eyes. So does the audience really want to see the girl they think is adorable in a “Red Room of Pain” getting physical with whoever gets cast as Christian Grey?

I don’t think so.

She Lacks Sex Appeal

It’s no doubt that Emma is beautiful – on red carpets, in her films, and even in paparazzi shots with no makeup, she looks flawless.

However, the sado-masochism role requires quite a bit of sex appeal – one that I feel Emma really lacks. We’ve barely seen Emma show PDA, let alone be tied to a bed!

Although in the first book of the trilogy Ana is very simple and innocent, Emma’s looks are too innocent. I think that someone luscious like Game of Throne‘s Emilia Clarke has the right look – simple but sexy. Plus, she’s already got experience stripping down.

She’s Too Boy-Shaped

In many chapters of the novel, Ana’s body is viewed as one that gives Christian “a twitching palm,” and has sexuality radiating off of it. Sorry, but there is no way that Emma’s slim body screams sexy.

Again, Emma is gorgeous, but sexy isn’t her thing. I could imagine Mila Kunis playing the role, with her dark locks, piercing eyes and pouty lips rocking the role as Ana. Plus, her body is voluptuous and sexy and she has no problem flaunting it - you’ve seen her Esquire shoot, right?

Plus, if she plays opposite Matt Bomer or Ian Somerhalder, who are both in talks to land the role of Christian, she needs to be just as hot as they are!
