If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again! And that’s exactly what a fertility expert thinks Khloe Kardashian should do in light of her recent miscarriage. “Any time a woman has been pregnant before, she’s more likely to become pregnant again,” Dr. Joel Batzofin exclusively tells HollywoodLife.com.

That’s good news for the 27-year-old reality star that’s been desperately trying to start a family with her husband Lamar Odom. “They can start trying right away,” explains Dr. Batzofin.

Khloe has tried numerous treatments to get pregnant — including in vitro fertilization, vitamin B12 injections and even acupuncture. “She heard about the acupuncture treatment from a friend in Dallas and is undergoing weekly sessions,” a friend told In Touch. “She would do anything to have Lamar‘s baby, even if it means getting stuck with needles.”

While there are many fertility options available to Khloe, Dr. Batzofin says that the reality starlet would benefit the most by figuring out what caused her miscarriage. “Miscarriages can be caused by chromosomal problems in the embryo, poor ovulation, hormone imbalances, infection among other things,” he says. “For example, if the cause of Khloe’s miscarriage was a uterine malformation, then you need to fix that before you explore other fertility options.”

Luckily, Dr. Batzofin says there are many treatment options available for women like Khloe who suffered a miscarriage. “We can help, but obviously other factors come into play such as how early the miscarriage occurred as well as the woman’s age,” he says.

Stress can also play a role in a woman’s ability to conceive — and poor Khloe has had plenty of that, especially since Lamar was fired from the Mavericks. “Stress doesn’t help,” adds Dr. Batzofin. “It can definitely interfere with ovulation and implantation.”

Researchers warn that male fertility declines rapidly after the age of 41!

According to The Daily Mail, men older than 45 who want a family but don’t have children should start actively trying! A study of IVF patients in which man’s sperm fertilized an egg from a donor revealed that fertility declined by up to 7% with each extra year on a man’s age between 41 and 45. After 45 years of age, fertility declined even more!

The study used donor eggs that were from young, healthy women — meaning any issues in pregnancy were due to the sperm. The average age of men whose partners got IVF treatment was 41, but the average age in which the IVF was unsuccessful was 45.

Researcher Paula Fettback told The Daily Mail that age counts. “Men have a biological clock, too,” she said. “It is not the same for women, but they can’t wait forever to have children.”

The study was announced at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s annual conference. In a second study announced at the conference, fertility plummeted in male mice from a year old — an equivalent to being middle-age in people.

But according to The Daily Mail, some experts think fathers shouldn’t worry. Charles Kingsland, a consultant gynecologist at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital, said the quality of a woman’s egg is much more important.

“I wouldn’t go rushing off to procreate on the basis that tomorrow my fertility might drop,” he added.

A new study links recession with declining birth rates! Are women putting off having kids because of the economy?

The Pew Research Center reports that births in the U.S. have dropped to the lowest number since 2004.

In 2007, birth rates were at a record high: 4,316,233. Since then, the economy’s been in recession and births have been declining.

In 48 out of 51 states — that’s including the District of Columbia — birth rates dropped within one to two years after the recession began. This doesn’t prove that changes in the economy equal fertility changes, but the timing is consistent with the time people would take to make decisions about having a child.

Experts suggested that this fertility decline is a postponement of having kids rather than a decision to have less children. The reports said people will likely start having more children once the economy picks up. In fact, birth rates have historically dropped during economic declines — it happened during both the Great Depression and the early ’70s.

Jen has even quit her number one vice — cigarettes! The source adds, “She has stopped smoking. She’s focused on getting her body ready for pregnancy.”

A second source tells Life & Style magazine she could even be expecting TWINS!

“Jen was seeing ob-gyn Dr. Robert Katz in Beverly Hills regularly this spring to see how fertile she is. She had blood work done to check her hormone levels. It’s clear Jennifer wants a baby – she may even be pregnant with twins by now.”

Experts say the probability of twins increases with age, even without fertility treatment!

The Sadlers refused to let the bizarre medical phenomenon stop them from starting a family – and in December they became parents to twin baby daughters!

Rachael and Mark Sadler spent nearly a decade — and their life savings – traveling the globe, trying different fertility treatments to help them start a family, only to discover not only was she allergic to her husband’s sperm — her body was riddled with ‘killer cells’ that were destroying their babies!

The devastated pair refused to give up and returned to the UK, where they embarked on their fifth bout of IVF in 2010 after yet more treatment to reduce the killer cells.

This time it worked! The pregnancy went smoothly and Rachael gave birth to twins Rebecca and Hazel in Coventry, England last December.

How did they stay so positive through all the devastating disappointment? Rachael explains, “I never accepted that I wouldn’t be a mother. I was determined to do anything I could to have a baby. And now I finally have my beautiful daughters, I feel complete. It has been worth all the heartache to have them with us after everything we have been through.”

By the sound of it, Prince William and Kate Middleton are eager to start a royal family!

In the new issue of Vanity Fair, royal watcher Katie Nicholl reports that Prince William and Kate requested that their room be stocked with an interesting food combo while away on their honeymoon in Seychelles. Brussels sprouts and cream cheese, anyone?

As strange as it may sound, Wills, 28, and Kate, 29, had good reason to chow down on the strange snacks. Apparently, Brussels sprouts are high in folic acid and said to enhance fertility!

After an eight year struggle with fertility, Leanne Blackwell has given birth to a baby boy thanks to an eggs-traordinary chicken!

Leanne Blackwell, 38, and her husband Andy, 40, have been trying to conceive a baby since 2003, spending close to $24,000 on IVF treatments. But in 2010, they discovered their immune systems were incompatible and that Leanne’s overactive system was killing her fertilized eggs. That’s when their doctor suggested a different approach to pregnancy…a VERY different approach. 

Dr. George Ndukwe, from Care Fertility in Nottingham, UK, suggested that he inject Leanne with protein from a chicken egg, whose fatty acids reduce the number of killer cells in the immune system. The Blackwells decided to test it out.

Leanne was injected with an intralipid solution containing a combination of egg extracts and soy oil through a drip, before being inseminated with the couple’s fertilized eggs. In May 2010, she found out she was pregnant!

She gave birth to baby Martyn, who weight 6lbs, 13oz, in February of this year.

“Holding Martyn in my arms for the first time was amazing, and the fact we had waited for so long made it all the more powerful,” Leanne tells the Daily Mail.

The solution Leanne was given before and after she fell pregnant is said to interfere with the signal to the immune system to kill the fertilized eggs (which Leanne’s body considered foreign bodies), reducing the number of killer cells.

“We believe that this treatment is important for women and families because there seems to be a subset of fertility patients who have developed, effectively, over active immune systems and this is contributing to their fertility difficulties,” Simon Thornton, Group Medical Director, CARE Fertility tells the Daily Mail.

“This treatment is inexpensive, well tolerated and easy to administer. We have devoted time to finding answers when nature goes wrong.”
