Ezra Miller stars as the confident, and gay, Patrick in the upcoming film The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and in his real life, he’s announced that he identifies himself as queer.

In a refreshingly candid interview with Out Magazine, Ezra, 19, says, simply, “I’m queer.” “I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular. I’ve been trying to figure out relationships, you know? I don’t know if it’s responsible for kids of my age to be so aggressively pursuing monogamous binds, because I don’t think we’re ready for them…I do feel that it’s possible to be at this age unintentionally hurtful, just by being irresponsible — which is fine. I’m super down with being irresponsible. I’m just trying to make sure my lack of responsibility no longer hurts people. That’s where I’m at in the boyfriend/girlfriend/zefriend type of question,” he adds.

Ezra admits that both his sexual identity and a speech impediment he had as a child have helped him relate to the book-turned-film’s exploration of the awkwardness of adolescence. “I was trying to kiss boys in school,” he says, and then the best friend he fooled around with turned on him. “He had some macho realization that led him to believe that I was the problem. So I went from having a stutter to being a totally gay little opera singer to being, like, a really confused queer adolescent.”

The Perks of Being a Wallflower, which co-stars Emma Watson and Logan Lerman, opens in theaters on September 21.

I saw We Need To Talk About Kevin at the New York premiere hosted by Pomellato and it’s definitely one to ring home about! The acting was phenomenal and overall it was just very well-done. It leaves you feeling bad for the enemy, so to speak, which is always fun. Here are the five reasons you should definitely should see this movie!

#1 Tilda Swinton’s best performance ever!

You could watch the talented actress in this character for hours! There was never a dull moment and she is so captivating it’s hard to blink your eyes.

#2 Ezra Miller is hot!

Despite the his evil role and murderous tendencies, he’s pretty cute to watch throughout the movie.

#3 Refreshing story line!

This isn’t a story about a high school shooting, it’s about the life of the shooter’s mom after the devastating incident. It’s so interesting to see this side of the story! Definitely refreshing and a nice change of pace from your typical story line.

#4 Leaves you feeling in awe!

Who doesn’t enjoy a good flick that leaves you pondering life when you walk out of the theater? I know I do!
