Is Lily going to be a flower girl — again? Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson created a fan frenzy Oct. 15 when he posted a picture of Mitchell and Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) in what appeared to be a highly matrimonial pose. “It’s not what it looks like,” Jesse wrote on his WhoSay account. “Or is it? Guess you’ll have to wait to find out!”

As much as we’d all love for Cameron and Mitchell to say “I do,” I’m going to have to say “they don’t” for now. There’s clearly a wedding happening this season, but the outfits in this picture are hardly fitting for a pair of grooms.

Maybe someday…

The ABC comedy decided to change things up this summer and bring in an older child actor to take over the role of Mitchell & Cameron’s adopted daughter! Are you excited?

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, 4, has replaced adorable twins Jaden and Ella Hiller, who played Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cameron’s (Eric Stonestreet) adopted daughter, Lily! And producers says Aubrey’s a natural!

“She really enjoys the process,” executive producer Steve Levitan tells Entertainment Weekly. “And she looks just like Jaden and Ella! When we had her do a scene, she sounded natural — not like a cutesy kid actor.”

This new addition will bring a different dynamic to the show, as Lily ended last season at around two years old. Are you excited for the new season of Modern Family?

Modern Family stars Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson are looked upon as heroes among the gay community. And, the two who play on-screen same-sex partners, Cameron Tucker and Mitchell Pritchett, know that their roles are important to help the gay community gain acceptance. “Jesse and I get comments and compliments all the time from gay moms and gay dads who watch the show,” Eric said at the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday (Jan. 31) in LA.

“And, kids of same-sex relationships say, ‘Hey, thanks for being a couple that I can point to when kids pick on me at school,’” Eric adds. “They say ‘Cam and Mitchell are kind of like my family.’” Isn’t it great that such a funny sitcom is helping kids deal which what can be a very serious issue?

Julie Bowen admits that she always wears Spanx!

The fan reactions make Eric’s job that much more fulfilling. “Things like that transcend our job,” gushed Eric. “We get really great compliments that make us feel like what we do is worthwhile!”

Emmy-winner Eric says he’s gets ‘amazing compliments from kids of same-sex marriage families!’

Eric Stonestreet doesn’t just make us laugh every week on ABC’s Modern Family – the Emmy winner also makes strides to improve the world’s perception of same-sex couples, particularly same-sex couples raising children. When HollywoodLife.com caught up with Eric Aug. 29 after his huge Emmy win, he told us a really sweet story about an encounter he had with a fan in the grocery store.

“We get amazing compliments from kids of same sex marriage families,” Eric told us exclusively. “I was just in the grocery store the other day and a gentleman approached me and said he was raised by two moms and they adopted another daughter. When he was in school there was no reference to two moms or two dads raising a child and he just wanted to thank me and tell the producers thanks for giving his sister something to point the bullies and the people who make fun of her at school to and say, ‘Well, look at Mitch and Cam. That’s what my parents are.’”

Eric says his goal with his character, Cameron, is to make people feel comfortable with him and like him:

“Because of where I come from — raised on a farm and playing football, driving a pick up truck and wearing cowboy boots — I just wanted someone somewhere to say, ‘I’d sit down and have a beer with that guy. I don’t care what his sexuality is.’ We want to make people laugh. That’s our first goal. [We want] people to realize in their hearts that people are more similar than they are different and we feel honored to do that.”

Eric, you’re obviously doing a great job. Keep up the good work — and enjoy that Emmy!
