Big-screen adaptations of young-adult novels are always hit or miss. For every Twilight, there’s a Mortal Instruments; for every Hunger Games, a Beautiful Creatures. But it sounds like Ender’s Game — Orson Scott Card‘s tale of a futuristic world, in which children are trained for a war against an alien race known as “Buggers” — is a direct hit, and a safe bet to top the box office this weekend.
Growing up is hard — especially when you’re living in outer space, training for an impending alien invasian. That’s what Asa Butterfield‘s title character faces in Ender’s Game, a sci-fi epic hitting theaters Nov. 1. Summit Entertainment released the full trailer May 7, giving us our first look at the film’s secondary stars, including Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin. Brace yourself.
Well, you can officially add “Ben Kingsley‘s face” to the list of images that will haunt all my future nightmares. The first teaser trailer for Ender’s Game has hit the web, and even though it only contains 10 seconds of actual footage — excluding Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield‘s introduction — we can already tell this movie’s going to be bananas.
