Finally the True Blood wait is over! Our favorite vampires arrived at the Season 6 premiere party on June 11 in Hollywood looking to die for — sorry for the pun. While the temperature is always hot and steamy in Bon Temps, these beauties didn’t break a sweat as they battled it out for the title of best beauty on the red carpet. Tell us below who you think is the winner!

‘True Blood’ Premiere Makeup – Anna Paquin’s Hair & More

We think every star who walked this red carpet looked fantastic — but Anna Paquin - who plays the series protagonist Sookie Stackhouse – in particular, was stunning. The actress managed to look both sophisticated, classic, and super fashionable all at once. She wore a subtle winged-out black smokey eye and a perfect-for-summer peachy blush. She let her eyes be the main focal point and wore a nude lip. Her hair was on trend with a slicked-back crown that fell into classic retro curls.

Carrie Preston, who plays Merlotte’s waitress Arlene, looked like the definition of classic beauty. Her makeup was soft and in neutral tones with a smoked out light brown eye and a light pink lip. Her beautiful dark red hair was stick straight. Hot!

Deborah Ann Woll, who plays newly turned vampire Jessica Hamby, meanwhile, brought a more high-fashion edge to the premiere. Her bright red hair was in a slight bouffant with a chignon. She wore a very dramatic winged out smokey black eye that extended onto her brown bone. She completed the look with a dark pink lipstick and a bright pink blush.

Finally, Janina Gavankar, who plays shapeshifter Luna Garza, looked sexy and sweet. The actress’s hair was in loose, romantic curls. Her eyes were heavily lined with dramatic lashes but relatively little eye shadow. Her lips were a subtle nude color, with blush to match.

Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Jason’s (Ryan Kwanten) relationship is about to get more complicated than ever — like, they could be going from friends-with-benefits to mother-and-son in a matter of weeks. HBO released a new (and very spoiler-y) trailer for the final three episodes of True Blood‘s fifth season, which features one particularly haunting image of Jessica and Jason hugging. In a grave!

According to the official description of the Aug. 19 episode, the second-to-last of the season, Bill (Stephen Moyer) slips “further into religious fervor” and “gives Jessica an order she’s loath to carry out.”

If you combine that spoiler with the above image of Jessica and Jason lying in a grave — plus Bill’s line in the trailer, “Vampires often turn on those they love the most” — I’m thinking there’s a real possibility Bill will force Jessica to make Jason a vampire to get back at Sookie (Anna Paquin).

While I’m not totally on board with Jason becoming a vampire — it feels desperate from a writing standpoint — it would definitely make up for the time Jason was supposed to become a werepanther, but then didn’t for some reason. (Speaking of writing, I’m still bitter they decided to dismiss that story entirely.)

Five deaths, two disappointed vampires and one unsettling return added up to a seriously mind-blowing True Blood season finale. And while I predict a lot of fans have a bad taste in their mouth after the Sept. 11 episode, I loved every minute — and more importantly — every twist.

Let’s start with death number one: Jesus (Kevin Alejandro!) Still possessed by Marnie (Fiona Shaw), Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) knifed his brujo lover in order to absorb his freaky demonic powers. He then silver-chained Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) to a pyre, and while I won’t poo-poo the gratuitously shirtless eye candy, I’d rather our vamps not be on the brink of death for once.

Fortunately Sookie (Anna Paquin), Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Holly (Lauren Bowles) arrived to save the day! Taking advantage of Halloween’s natural magic, the trio busted out a spell to use their dead ancestors against Marnie. I never thought I’d see Sookie’s little Gran physically pull a human out of another human, but hey, anything goes on True Blood.

Once the madness died down — pun intended — it was time for Sookie to deal with what really matters in life: choosing between Bill and Eric! Using her head, for once, Sookie confessed that even though she loved both vampires, her best option was to let them both go and see what a single life has to offer her. (Personally, I think her best option would have been another threesome, but hey, I just want her to be happy.)

Meanwhile, far away from the chaos, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) had themselves a hot little Halloween. After coming clean to Hoyt (Jim Parrack), Jason was free to ravage Little Red Riding Hood to his heart’s content. After she left, Jason was visited by another familiar face — Steve Newlin! He’s back, and he’s a freakin’ vampire! (Sorry, did I say Jason was “far away from the chaos?” I guess I spoke too soon.)

Arlene (Carrie Preston) finally got her long-awaited visit from René this week, but it didn’t go quite as she expected. Instead of attacking her, or even mentioning one word about the baby they share together, he came to deliver a warning — about Terry (Todd Lowe)! He said he’s seen the ghosts of Terry’s past, and that she should run while she can. Hmm… Could this have anything to do with his old war buddy (Scott Foley) showing up in Bon Temps?

Nan Flanagan (Jessica Tuck) also met her untimely demise this week, surprisingly, at the hands of King Bill. She informed Bill and Eric that she quit her job and was planning to rebel against the Authority, joined by a faction of vampires who have been plotting a move for quite some time. But it was her calling them both “puppy dogs” for Sookie that drove them both over the edge. And as much as I loved Nan, I think Eric said it best while standing over her lifeless puddle. “What a bitch.”

Methinks we got a taste of what’s in store for season five — and I’m kind of terrified. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) was called to a parking garage, where he discovered someone had dug a huge hole in the ground. Why, you ask? Judging by the broken silver chain Alcide picked up, I’m going to go ahead and assume our buddy Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare) is back. And he’s pissed. So hide your humans and hide your fairies! We’re all in for a whole lot of pain.

And then there was that last scene — the one every True Blood fan will be talking about until season five premieres next summer. Sookie came home to find a shotgun-wielding Debbie (Brit Morgan), who ended up blowing a hole in Tara’s head when she knocked Sookie out of the way. And despite the she-wolf’s plea for Sookie to spare her life, our little fairy grabbed that shotgun and finally blasted her in the face — another moment fans of the book have been patiently waiting for.

I’ve been patiently waiting for True Blood‘s Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Sookie (Anna Paquin) to get nasty for three seasons, but after the past three weeks, I think I’m ready to see them put their clothes back on. After exchanging blood, the couple spent most of the Aug. 14 episode having drug-induced sex in a Narnia-style fantasy. “Can we make love in it?” Eric asked upon seeing a bed. Try and guess Sookie’s answer.

After a few scenes of Sookie and Eric discovering, and professing, that “all is possible,” they snapped out of their trance — and s**t got real. They joined Bill (Stephen Moyer) for his confrontation with Marnie (Fiona Shaw), and an all-out battle between the vampires and the witches erupted in the middle of the graveyard.

In the middle of all the craziness, Bill kept Pam (Kristin Bauer Van Straten) from literally ripping Tara’s (Rutina Wesley) face off — bummer! — but only before taking some hard silver to the face and going down. Eric was taken down too, by Marnie herself, leaving poor Sookie defenseless. Naturally, she got shot and bled out in the middle of the graveyard. Good thing Alcide (Joe Manganiello) had been creepily stalking Sookie from a distance and was able to take her to safety. Or to bed. You can never tell where it’s heading with these guys.

Oh, Jessica (Deborah Ann woll) is safe too, by the way. Jason (Ryan Kwanten) made it to Bill’s house in time and kept her out of the sun, for which she thanked him with a bloody-faced kiss. So as you can imagine, the Jason-Jessica-Hoyt love triangle got a whole lot pointier this week.

After dreaming about literally killing Hoyt (Jim Parrack) to put him out of his misery, Jessica finally got the courage to dump him for real — and his reaction was a lot more intense than she predicted. A whole lot of “you’re a bitch” and “you’re dead” and “you’re a virgin for eternity, and that sucks” was thrown around, and Jessica ended up the one crying outside.

But did her new blood-buddy Jason welcome her with open arms? Not exactly. He knows he has feelings for her, but since he’s Hoyt’s best friend and he’s the noblest man alive, he uninvited Jessica from his house — and she ended up on the doorstep. Again.

Sam (Sam Trammell) dealt with a little relationship trouble of his own this week when he finally came face-to-face with Luna’s (Janina Gavankar) ex-husband, who — wait for it — also happens to be the Shreveport packmaster who’s been trying to get Alcide to join up! So we know that he’s crazy, and that can’t be good for anybody.

Meanwhile, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) had another run-in with his singing ghost friend this week and we learned a lot more about her. It turns out she’s pretty possessive. Like, literally possessive, and now her spirit is living inside Bon Temps’ favorite flamboyant fry cook. Worse still, her vengeful spirit is determined to get back the baby she lost when her secret white lover killed it, then killed her.

So Lafayette did what any man possessed by a crazy ghost would do: He headed for the Bellefleuer mansion and kidnapped baby Mikey — and a gun. (Spoiler alert: Nelsan Ellis gives an incredible performance in next week’s episode.)

The love square that is Sookie Stackhouse’s life got a little more complicated — and awkward — on the Aug. 8 episode of True Blood when Alcide (Joe Manganiello) walked in on Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) plowing Sookie (Anna Paquin) in the woods. Sookie and Eric eventually returned home, where they proceeded to deliver what can only be described as soft-core porn.

But Sookie’s love life didn’t nearly take as big a hit as the vampires of Bon Temps. Marnie (Fiona Shaw), or should I say “Antonia,” rallied her witches together to perform a spell that would make all vampires want to walk into the sun. To prevent this insane disaster from occurring, King Bill (Stephen Moyer) ordered all vampires — at least the ones in Bon Temps, anyway — to be tied down with silver chains and kept indoors.

This worked for most of our fanged friends — the scene with Pam (Kristin Bauer Van Straten) struggling to get out of her coffin while Ginger (Tara Buck) rode it like a washing machine was pretty spectacular — but it didn’t go so smoothly for Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), who broke free from her chains and began her escape into the sun.

Fortunately, Jessica’s blood-buddy Jason (Ryan Kwanten) is on the way to save her, though HBO did wisely leave all traces of the redhead out of the preview for next week’s episode.

Now let’s back to Pam for a minute. Of all the things that have ever trended on Twitter, why wasn’t “Poor Pam” a worldwide issue tonight? Dr. Ludwig — welcome back, by the way — spent the hour performing crazy painful procedures on her, just to remove her rotting skin. Sadly, though, there’s still no way to reverse the rotting itself without a witch.

Speaking of witches — eh, sort of — both Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Baby Mikey are now going all Sixth Sense and seeing the same ghost. A ghost that likes to sing really creepy songs in foreign languages.

Meanwhile, Sam (Sam Trammell) dealt with more family drama this week, as he put two-and-two together and found out Tommy (Marshall Allman) slept with Luna (Janina Gavankar) after shifting into him. He predictably kicked Tommy out of his house, but am I the only one who thinks he should’ve just killed him? Tommy goes quietly, and you definitely don’t want a skin-walker to be holding any grudges.

I’ve been looking forward to the July 31 episode of True Blood — the much-hyped full moon episode — for a while now, and I have to be honest, it was a little disappointing. As it turns out, you can’t “make” someone a were-panther, so Jason (Ryan Kwanten) didn’t get his big transformation, despite the many episodes dedicated to building up his story line. That being said, I was definitely NOT disappointed by the very last scene, in which Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) made sweet nasty love in the middle of the woods!

Seriously, if you thought last week’s Sookie/Eric kiss was epic, this week’s outdoor excursion must have blown your mind. King Bill (Stephen Moyer) was all set to stake Eric on the lawn, when the Nordic beauty’s final request prompted a change of heart.

Eric said he was willing to die — especially considering all the horrible things he’s done in the past — but that he wanted Bill to end up with Sookie afterwards. (That makes ONE of us…) He said Sookie deserves happiness with whomever can give it to her. Clearly Bill’s cold, selfish heart melted right along with ours.

Now let’s get back to Jason. As I said, I’m beyond disappointed we won’t be seeing him turn into a big kitty — or so it seems — but I’m kind of intrigued by his new relationship with Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll.) I know it’s only because he drank her blood, but they’ve got a real connection. And as much as I love her with Hoyt (Jim Parrack), “Jessica and Jason” just rolls of the tongue.

Speaking of tongues, Sam (Sam Trammell) and his new girlfriend Luna (Janina Gavankar) also went to bed for the first time this week — only it wasn’t Sam! That’s right, mommy and daddy’s little killer Tommy (Marshall Allman) finally skin-walked. And, not surprisingly, the the first person he turned into was his dear brother Sam. The sex was great, but the whole ‘throwing Luna out afterwards’ part was less so. Sam’s got some explaining to do!

For this week’s recap, I saved the craziest part for last. Not only did Marnie (Fiona Shaw) welcome the late, great Antonia’s spirit into her body, but he also got a slew of crazy new powers that allow her to control vampires! And she’s not the only one…

Over in Mexico, Jesus’s (Kevin Alejandro) crazy brujo grandfather cast a little spell of his own, which led the spirit of Jesus’ dead uncle right inside Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis.) He began his ritual by launching a rattlesnake at Jesus’ neck, and even though it was nice that Lafayette’s new spirit buddy was able to save him, I was kind of hoping it might have been curtains for Jesus. Am I the only who’s kind of… over him?

In summary, for those of you keeping score at home, two people now have spirits living inside of them, and two Stackhouses have now had dirty woodland sex. (But not together. Incest is really more Bill’s cup of tea.)

The moment we’ve been waiting for all season — well, really for the past three seasons — finally happened on the July 24 episode of True Blood: Sookie (Anna Paquin) finally kissed Eric (Alexander Skarsgard)! It wasn’t a dream, she wasn’t being glamoured, and no one was in any danger of being killed. She did it because she wanted to do it, and I couldn’t be happier.

But that beautiful scene didn’t go down until the very end of the episode, so let’s backtrack a bit.

King Bill (Stephen Moyer) got super tired of putting up with Marnie’s sh*t, so he had her kidnapped and brought to his little vampire prison. He soon learned that Marnie (Fiona Shaw) had no idea how she cast her spells on Pam (Kristin Bauer Van Straten) and Eric, and that she was actually channeling a powerful Spanish witch from the past. This troubled King Bill, so he called the remaining four Louisiana vampire sheriffs together to figure out a game plan.

Also in need of a new game plan is Sam (Sam Trammell) and Tommy (Marshall Allman.) When his visit with his parents turned sour, Tommy went a little bananas and killed them both. Sam helped him dump the bodies in a nearby swamp, but there’s a much bigger issue at hand now: Now that Tommy, a shifter, killed a member of his family, will he become a “skin walker” like Luna (Janina Gavankar)? And even worse, will that shared ability bond them and pull her away from Sam?

Elsewhere, Hoyt (Jim Parrack) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) brought Jason (Ryan Kwanten) back to Bon Temps safe and sound — but new problems arose when Jessica’s blood started to mess with Jason’s mind. Cue an awkward dream in which Jason and Jessica were having sex, with Hoyt sitting next to them. I’m not going to lie, it was kind of hot for a second — but then Hoyt and Jessica suddenly switched places. And it got hilarious.

Speaking of hilarious things, Pastor Daniels and Tara’s (Rutina Wesley) whore mother went over to Arlene’s (Carrie Preston) house to expel whatever evil was messing with their baby. But apparently that crazy whore’s tambourine shaking was all in vain, because a book of matches suddenly caught on fire at the end of the episode! A lot of people are hating on this story line — I’ve heard the words “stupid” and “ridiculous” used — but I’m loving it. I have a feeling it’ll end up tying in nicely with the witches. Plus, evil or not, that baby is freakin’ adorable.

Meanwhile, Jesus (Kevin Alejandro) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) took a little road trip down to Mexico this week to visit Jesus’ “brujo” uncle. He’s the one who first gave Jesus his powers, and they’re hoping he’ll be able to help them fight off the vampires. Side note: Am I the only who thinks Jesus is getting in a little over his head, picking a fight with Eric? Dude’s totally gonna die this season, I’m calling it now.

OK, now let’s get back to Eric and Sookie! Pam let it slip that Sookie is hiding him, which sent King Bill into a crazy jealous rage. Based on the previews of next week’s episode, we know Bill and Eric are going to have a violent run-in… but I’m just hoping he actually walks in on Sookie and Eric doing the nasty! I’ve always been open about my disdain for Bill — even though Stephen does an incredible job portraying him — and seeing Sookie with Eric would really stick it to him!

What a solid follow-up to the season premiere!

Don’t get me wrong, I think Candice Accola is a good actress — but there came to a point last season where I wondered, “How many friends does Elena really need?” Well, if I had a time machine I’d tell my former self that Caroline would soon become awesome. Her emergence as a vampire on the Sept. 16 episode of The Vampire Diaries made it even better than the season premiere. She’s the best addition the show has made since bringing Katherine (Nina “I am very talented” Dobrev) to town.

Granted, I was a little worried that baby vamp Caroline might be a little too much like baby Jessica on True Blood — but as it turns out, seeing a character we already know realize what they are and learn to live with it (or in this case, die and then live with it) is really cool. And speaking of people learning what they really are…

When I first realized that werewolves were going to enter the picture — Tyler’s eyes changing after the accident was a pretty clear message — I was skeptical. I’m not exactly on Team Jacob, I don’t even play such games. But now that we’ve gotten a taste of what the wolves, Tyler (Michael Trevino) and his arm-wrestling uncle Mason (Taylor Kinney), are going to be like, I’m excited. They’re so much cooler and scarier than anything I’ve seen in the Twilight trailers. And next week’s episode looks to have plenty of ‘em.

Here are a few more afterthoughts, in smaller doses:

1. Am I the only one who kept expecting Elena to be revealed as Katherine every 5 minutes? This switching business is making me edgy.
2. That said, the ending was so chilling and cool. And why doesn’t Stefan (Paul Wesley) fly more often?
3. They’re in school — so where’s Mr. Saltzman (Matt Davis) at?
4. Elena is a really lucky girl. Her friends are really cool, even if they are also supernatural and incredibly dangerous.
5. “God bless Elena, but she does not know the meaning of the world ‘fabulous.’” (Caroline might be the most sugary sweet vampire ever.)
6. When Caroline told Damon (Ian Salvatore), “You suck,” I didn’t even mind the cheesiness. That’s how much I love Caroline Forbes.
7. I also love Caroline for restraining herself and not biting Matt (Zach Roerig.) I really hope he doesn’t get killed off tragically.
