Halle Berry is one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood. She is also the first and only African American woman to win the title of Best Actress at the Academy Awards for her performance in Monster’s Ball.We have seen her in films such as Jungle Fever, X-Men, and Die Another Day. We know her best for her leading role in Catwoman, the film for which she won the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actress.

In 1993, Halle married former baseball player David Justice, but that ended in 1997. A few years later she married Eric Benét and adopted his daughter, India. Unfortunately, they divorced shortly after in 2005.

Halle also gave birth to Nahla Ariela, her daughter with ex-beau Gabriel Aubry. She had to pull out of film New Years Eve to deal with custody issues.

“When you have children you get to see things all over again,” the actress and Revlon spokeswoman explains,  ”So I’ve never laughed as hard, I’ve never done more silly things, and I go to great lengths to make her laugh. She’s awakened a childlike side of me.”

Throughout their twisted custody battle over daughter Nahla, Halle has thrown Gabriel under the bus. She purposely wants to destroy his image so that she looks like a super mom!

Things have gotten downright dirty in the custody battle between Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry over 2-year-old Nahla, and it sure looks like Halle is the instigator. “She is planting stories about him. This is a total smear campaign,” a friend tells Us Weekly. And this isn’t out of the ordinary for Halle, who has pulled this kind of behavior before. But, is this all a part of her secret plan to ruin Gabriel’s good name or is Halle really concerned for her daughter’s well-being?

“Halle can be insecure and loves to make someone else the bad guy,” a source close to the actress, 44, says. And right now, that villain is Nahla’s father. “She’s on a mission to trash Gabriel. She’s vindictive.” People who have worked with Halle say that you have to watch your back around her. “She has a bad temper,” admits a close friend. “I love her to death, but if you cross her she goes nuts.” Which is pretty much what she’s been doing the past few weeks, calling Gabriel, 35, a racist and claiming that Nahla is not safe with him. “Gabriel has wanted nothing more than to move the process of Nahla’s custody along quickly and quietly,” an insider tells Star magazine. “He was really blindsided by the hurtful comments from Halle’s camp.”

But, this kind of behavior is nothing  new for Halle. After she ended her marriage to baseball player David Justice in 1997, she filed a temporary restraining order (David denies he ever threatened her) and said the divorce nearly drove her to commit suicide. In 2004, Halle called her marriage to Eric Benet “horrific,”  and claimed that he was a sex-addict, ultimately destroying Eric’s image.

This time, Halle was ticked off by her jealousy over Gabriel’s fling with Kim Kardashian, which is totally hypocritical because she’s involved with French actor Olivier Martinez. “Kim is younger and hotter than Halle, who can be incredibly vain,” a source tells Star. “It drove her crazy to see them together in public.” Additionally, a source explains to Us Weekly that Halle did not want Nahla “involved in a reality show” and was angry that cameras would be following her.

Halle, cameras follow you and your daughter every day, and you have no problem with that. Do you only want them to see you with her so that you come across as some sort of a super mom?

Right now, it appears that Gabriel is taking the high road and has refused to talk about the racism comment or the apparent sperm donor email. “There’s no way Gabriel would even consider leaking any of that material,” a source tells Star. “To him nothing is more important than sparing Nahla from any further embarrassment when she’s old enough to understand what went down between her parents…He knows that airing dirty laundry in public would only be hurtful to Nahla — now and in the future.” So HollyMoms, what do you think is going on here? Halle Berry‘s first marriage to baseball player David Justice ended in divorce in 1996. It was rumored that he initiated the split and she has been very open in saying that after their break-up she considered suicide but couldn’t bear the thought of her mother finding her body.

She married actor and singer Eric Benet in 2003, but they too divorced after Benet admitted that he cheated on the actress.

Halle has also admitted that before she was married to David she was the victim of domestic violence at the hands of a boyfriend that left her deaf in one ear.

We thought she had really found her soul mate in Gabriel. Despite the age difference the pair seemed to be so happy.

“I’m really happy in my personal life, which is a novelty to me. You know, I’m not the girl that has the best relationships,” Halle laughed in an interview in 2006.”

But now he has gone and dumped her too.

Why does Halle keep making such poor choices about men? It may have to do with a low sense of self worth explains relationship expert Dr. Gilda Carle.

“Anyone who continues to choose people who are bad for them does it because they have a low self-esteem and self-worth. Halle doesn’t feel like she deserves any better and that feeling is only reinforced when she is treated badly,” Dr. Gilda explains. “Then she can go back and say, ‘I knew I was unworthy.’ When you continue to choose people who fit the same mold that’s when you need to start taking notes. Patterns tell us everything about ourselves.”

Halle has known domestic abuse all her life. In 2005 she admitted that her mother was also a victim.

“Domestic violence is something I’ve known about since I was a child. My mother was a victim of it. Early on in my life I made choices, and I chose men that were abusive because that was what I knew growing up…First time it happened, I knew enough to keep moving,” Halle said.

Childhood scars run deep and no matter how rich and famous you are, a person may never overcome the psychological trauma of abuse.

“Halle never saw a good relationship. She never saw what a good relationship looked like. A child who has watched a parent be domestically abused interprets that as love,” explains psychology expert and author Cooper Lawrence. “She may no longer reach out to men who are physical abusers, but she doesn’t look for the kind of man who will treat her the way she deserves to be treated. Healing is a lifelong process and Halle should seek therapy before she enters another serious relationship.”
