First, New York Fashion Week rolled out its runways and its models who look like they barely eat morsels. Then Sports Illustrated and its bevy of perfect skinnies in swimsuits hit the newsstands and the airwaves, with not a stomach roll or dimpled thigh in sight. All week we’ve had to look at tight, taut tummys, stick thin legs, arms barely bigger than insect tentacles and perky perfect cleavage. It’s enough to make any normal-weight woman feel fat!

Why can’t Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue have some models who have Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, or Beyonce curves? Why can’t designers showcase their catwalk clothes on models who have a J.Lo pear shape or fuller figure like Christina Hendricks?

We, the women who will ultimately buy those clothes, think these women are gorgeous. We aspire to look like them, not like the androgynous sticks on the Fashion Week runways!

Is that what you consider plus size? In just a year the gorgeous model seems smaller than ever! What do you think of her transformation?

Crystal Renn is often scrutinized for her weight, and it seems like like the more popular she becomes, the smaller she gets! While I’m often sick of hearing the debate over her dress size, I was shocked when I saw the new photos of the model in Zac Posen‘s pre-fall 2011 look book — sure, Crystal is smoldering, but with her svelte frame she’s far from plus size! Less than a year ago, V magazine (issue 63) hit newsstands in January, where the model showed off a fuller frame. At the time, the 5 ft. 9″ Crystal listed her measurements as: 36/31/41.

I highly doubt her measurements are the same these days, and I don’t understand why she keeps wasting away! I couldn’t even begin to imagine what it’s like being under such intense pressure in the modeling world, but at the same time, Crystal has found so much success as a plus-size model that there isn’t any need for her to lose so much weight. She’smanaged to break down so many boundaries in the industry, storming the runway for countless designers including Jean-Paul Gaultier and Karl Lagerfeld, and even landing a cover of Vogue.

I understand with the territory comes the necessary evils and pressure, and I’ve always appreciated her honesty on the topic. Crystal has always been very vocal about the dark side of the industry, penning a memoir released last fall, entitled Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves, where the model candidly opens up about overcoming anorexia.

Like I said earlier, I’ve never indulged in the great weight debate, but now I think it’s worth pointing out. Sure, while everyone’s weight may fluctuate from time to time, it seems like Crystal has gotten significantly smaller in just a year. If Crystal wants to slim down and is doing it the healthy way that’s her business — I just hope she isn’t under pressure to shed her curves. I also think over time she’s become a pioneer as a plus-size model and many women look up to her — although these days there isn’t anything plus-size about her! I’m sure many of her fans are outraged and disappointed.

While most models would give anything to walk just one major Parisian fashion show, plus-size beauty Crystal Renn can now brag she walked not one, not two, but three major shows during the peak of fashion week! Crystal took to the runway for American Zac Posen, showing in Paris for the first time, Jean Paul Gaultier, and, in perhaps the biggest show of the season, Karl Lagerfeld‘s Chanel presentation!

Victoria Beckham‘s presentation during New York Fashion Week featured the beautifully feminine styles she has now became famous for, but not any sort of feminine shape! Days after reports Victoria would be using “regular-size women” in her show, Victoria instead filled her Sept. 12 runway with the same skinny ladies that have been popular all week in New York!

While one cannot fault Victoria, pin thin herself, for using these more popular models, it does seem odd she would make such a bold statement only to go back on it. These girls had neverending legs that failed to touch, jutting hip bones, and overly evident clavicle bones!

The only designer to buck this trend so far this week has been Zac Posen, who featured runway beauty Crystal Renn in his Sept. 11 show. He also dressed the curvy and gorgeous Christina Hendricks for the Emmy Awards.

What do you think about Victoria’s models and this current trend?

Designers were starting to replace pin-thin models with curvier ladies and we loved it! But top insiders at a high-powered NYC modeling agency are saying that at this year’s fashion week you’ll notice a change — and not a good one.

Say goodbye to healthy curves and hello to itty-bitty runway models! This year’s 2010 Fall Fashion Week kicked off in NYC Sept. 9 and according to our sources, you’ll be noticing some major changes. HollywoodLife.com spoke to an industry insider who reveals that if you thought your favorite designers were over uber-skinny models — think again.

“For the past six months we’ve been enjoying womanly bodies,” says our source. “But everything is cyclical and the trend is heading back in the other direction. People are tired of seeing those images [of heavier models] and we’re seeing a lot of designers revolt from it.”

Instead of seeing some fresh faces or well-known curvy models like Crystal Renn and Lizzie Miller, our insider says you’ll be seeing the typical famous faces of skinny: Ana Claudia, Carmen Dell’Orefice, Rose Codero, Alana Zimmer and Ming Xi.

But all hope is not lost: the Kardashian girls are launching their new clothing and accessories line on QVC, Sept. 10 — and the line is specifically for curvy women! Kim, Khloe and Kourtney are known for embracing their curves and being “real” role models for the millions of young girls who look up to them.

We did get a chance to speak to Roman Young, the Director of New Faces at NYC’s Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, and he says it won’t always be this way.

“Skinny isn’t the end all be all requirement for models this season.” he says. “You will see a vast variety this season.“

BFFs, are you upset to hear that the positive trend of featuring curvy women is reverting back to the old skinny ways?
