Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah’s (Claire Holt) search for the cure led them straight to Katherine on the March 28 episode of The Vampire Diaries, but neither of them expected to run into Elijah (Daniel Gillies) — and that’s when the real fun began! Ironically, Elena doesn’t do a very good Katherine impression, so Elijah figured out she wasn’t his real girlfriend (!!!) almost immediately.

Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) eventually caught up to TVD‘s version of Thelma and Louise, but not before Elena left to rendezvous with Elijah. The Salvatores forced Katherine to bring them to the cure, but some quick thinking — and a fish tank full of vervain water — allowed Katherine to escape. Taking advantage of the sudden insanity, Rebekah snatched the cure and drank it in one mighty gulp, only to discover… it wasn’t the real cure!

The real cure was chilling with one of Katherine’s “friends,” but when she went to retrieve it, she ended up giving it to Elijah to hold on to. She’s letting him decide how things play out, which is either really romantic… or really stupid. I haven’t decided.

In the heat of the moment, Stefan realized Damon purposely let Rebekah drink the cure in order to keep Elena as a vampire forever. This led to a long overdue heart-to-heart about how “nothing ever changes” in this endless game of brother-versus-brother, and a game-changing revelation from Stefan: When they finally get the cure for Elena, he said he’s planning on leaving her behind him forever!

Speaking of revelations, Elena told the boys to stop trying to change her — and more importantly cure her — or else “there will be consequences.” To prove her point, Elena killed the first waitress she could find, promising a full-on killing spree if they keep getting in her way.

Yipes!

‘Klaroline’ Plays Mind Games

Back in Mystic Falls, Silas was busy playing everyone’s favorite game: Let’s Torture Klaus (Joseph Morgan), which the audience automatically won because we got a solid hour of shirtless Original. But the big surprise came when Caroline (Candice Accola) showed up to help Klaus pull out the White Oak Steak… and discovered there was nothing there! That’s right, it was just another illusion conjured up by Silas.

But Caroline’s help came at a price: She got Klaus to agree to let Tyler (Michael Trevino) return to Mystic Falls without trying to kill him, which she — and every single person viewing from home — was thrilled about.

I’ve got some good news for Claire Holt — and some very bad news for fans of Rebekah’s re-budding relationship with Stefan (Paul Wesley) on The Vampire Diaries: The Australian actress has officially joined the cast of The CW’s purposed TVD spin-off, The Originals!

Rebekah joining The Originals makes a lot of sense — she is, after all, an Original — but it also means her tenure on The Vampire Diaries has a definite expiration date.

Interestingly enough, Deadline notes that Claire was originally supposed to co-star in the spin-off, but “talks hit a snag,” so Phoebe Tonkin joined instead. Does this mean there’s a chance Phoebe’s character, Hayley, won’t be sticking around, after all?

Who Else Is Going To Be On ‘The Originals’?

So many people!

Along with Joseph Morgan and Daniel Gillies, who are both reprising their roles as Rebekah’s brothers, The Originals has a slew of new and terrifying characters for fans to fall in love with.

Let’s start with Klaus’ former protegé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis), who is described as being “wicked, wild and charismatic.” No wonder he’s Klaus’ protegé! He was once “kicked around,” but now “calls the shots” in New Orleans — though that’s likely to change once Klaus returns to his old stomping grounds.

Then there’s the latest new addition, Camille (Leah Pipes), a college student who’s “unaware of the supernatural universe that exists around her.” Methinks it won’t take long for Camille to become aware — likely too aware — of the vampires lurking right under her nose.

When Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) called it quits on the Nov. 15 episode of The Vampire Diaries, some fans feared the sensitive Salvatore would never find happiness again. Little did they know, his perfect match — and ex-girlfriend, Rebekah (Claire Holt) — was just a dagger pull away! Allow me to explain why Stefan and Rebekah make a bloody good couple, and why I really hope they’re given a future together.

1. Their Sex Is Hot

Let’s begin where they began: the bedroom! Yes, I was a little shocked to see Stefan and Rebekah jumping into bed together on the Jan. 24 episode, but I was totally game once they got started. And even though they did it under the pretense of “no feelings, no attachments,” you knew they didn’t mean it. Come on, their sexual tension had been brewing for nearly a century!

2. Their Banter Is Feisty

I’ve used many words to describe Rebekah since her introduction last season: “bitchy,” “evil” and “heartless,” to name a few — but I never thought I’d find myself referring to the foxy Original as “adorable,” until the Feb. 7 episode. The scene between Stefan and Rebekah at the campfire was so sugary, I felt like I swallowed an entire packet of Fun Dip, and I mean that in a very good way.

Rebekah: Did you hear that? [She cluthes Stefan's arm.] I swear this place is haunted!
Stefan: You’re crushing my arm.
Rebekah: OK, you caught me, I’m a scaredy cat.
Stefan: You do realize you’re an Original vampire, right?
Rebekah: Which is precisely why you should stop teasing me. … I’m very powerful.

Me-ow! I don’t think Stefan and Elena have ever shared such an effortlessly flirty scene together. Relive the fun below:

3. Their Happiness Is Real

Ignoring the fact that Stefan only took Rebekah to the ’80s dance to distract her on the Jan. 31 episode, you’ve got to admit, they were both really happy to be there. Not only was Stefan in his glory, reliving the awesome-ness of his favorite decade, but you could see how glad he was to be sharing it all with his newly reignited flame. He even told her she reminded him of Lexi (Arielle Kebbel), and we all know how much respect he had for her.

The next scene, when Stefan taught Rebekah the joys of hallway sliding, was also kind of adorable. Not only does she make him smile, but he brings out her secret fun side.

Even when they’re not jumping each other’s undead bones, Stefan and Rebekah are just happy to be around each other. See for yourself:

An incredibly rare thing happened on the Jan. 31 episode of The Vampire Diaries — and I’m talking, like, BIGFOOT rare: Elena (Nina Dobrev) actually came up with a plan that worked, and no one we really cared about had to die in the process! Since killing Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) would also kill every vampire in his bloodline, thus allowing Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) to immediately grow the rest of his tattoo, she devised a way for the li’l hunter to off the Original.

I’m not going to lie, the plan hit a few snags along the way — like when Kol impaled Elena with a huge plank of wood from the staircase, or when Kol almost cut off both of Jeremy’s enormous arms in the kitchen. But ultimately, Team Gilbert was able to subdue to the butt-chinned Original and light him the f**k on fire. Klaus (Joseph Morgan) was pissed, but let’s be real, friends: When is Klaus not pissed? … Exactly.

When all was said and done, the gang rendezvoused at the Salvatore Mansion for a super-awkward game of “Who Slept With Whom?” Damon (Ian Somerhalder) revealed to the group that Stefan (Paul Wesley) had just porked Rebekah (Claire Holt) the night before, and surprisingly, Elena looked kind of pissed. Well, more surprised than pissed — but either way, she definitely didn’t enjoy it as much as I did. Then Stefan brought up the sire bond again, because he sucks and can’t let go of the past, so Damon punched him right in his perfectly sculpted jaw.

This tete-a-tete could have gone on forever, had Jeremy not interrupted them by screaming and ripping off his shirt — enjoy that gif below — to reveal the fully developed hunter’s mark.

“Here we go…” Damon whispered, his piercing blue eyes fixated on the half-naked Gilbert standing lustfully by the fireplace. … Oh, God, did I just write “lustfully?” Sorry, I’ll save that kind of talk for my best-selling #Deremy fan fiction. It’ll be like Fifty Shades of Gray, only not absolutely terrible.

Stefan + Rebekah 4ever

Can we take a minute to talk about how perfect Stefan and Rebekah are together? I know Stefan was technically forced to spend time with her tonight as part of Elena’s plan, but it’s so obvious they have legit feelings for each other, even if neither of them is willing to admit that.

“What’s going on with you?” she asked him after they snuck into the canceled — thanks a lot, Mayor Dickhead — ’80s dance at Mystic Falls High. “You’re… fun tonight.”

See? Stefan having fun is such a foreign concept to every character on this show that they actually second guess him when he smiles! I guess that’s what he meant last week when he told Elena she wasn’t used to seeing what he was like when he wasn’t in love with her. He’s happy now. Here’s the math lesson I’m taking away from this episode: Stefan minus Elena equals happy.

Stefan and Rebekah’s deceitful little date also brought out a surprise confession from the misunderstood Mikaelson: She wants to be human! She wants to find someone who will love her enough to hold up a stereo outside her window, à la Say Anything! I think that made me fall in love with Rebekah even more than I already have. I just wanted to lick all the tears off her face until she stopped crying — or until she asked me who I was, and what I was doing. Whichever came first.

Rebekah was, understandably, super pissed to find out Stefan had only taken her to the dance so that Jeremy could kill Kol — but somehow I don’t see this being a deal breaker for her. Mark my words: She and Stefan shall pork again!

Mo Bennetts, Mo Problems

Just when we thought Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) dad was the most annoying addition to Mystic Falls since “Not Now” Dana, along came Bonnie’s mom (Persia White) to remind us things can always get worse. They demanded that she stop helping the Gilberts — and by “demanded,” I mean they literally chloroformed her and tried to hold her captive — but they forgot one tiny, yet oh-so-important detail: She’s a freakin’ all-powerful witch who doesn’t take s**t from nobody no more!

After reducing her mom to a whimpering little baby vamp, Bonnie hauled ass to Chez Gilbert, where she proceeded to trap Klaus in the living room with one of her crazy new spells.

All. Hail. Queen. Bonnie.

There’s never any shortage of bad news in Mystic Falls — usually it’s along the lines of “Your relative was killed by something sexy and supernatural” — but Rebekah (Claire Holt) is rarely on the receiving end of it. That’ll change on the Feb. 21 episode of The Vampire Diaries when Damon (Ian Somerhalder) “relays somber news to Rebekah … and is surprised at her reaction.”

I know this episode is still weeks away, and plenty will happen between now and then, but let’s try to put our heads together and figure out what “somber news” Damon could have for her. Is it that her beloved bro Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) is dead — again? Or could it be that they’ve already given Elena (Nina Dobrev) the cure, crushing Bex’s own dreams of becoming human?

Let’s not forget, Nina recently revealed to E! Online that we can expect “Shocking. Bloody. Death.” Either way, I’m pretty sure “somber” never means “good.”

5 More Spoilers From ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 4, Episode 15

1. Caroline (Candice Accola) is “worried about Elena’s state of mind” when she returns to Mystic Falls with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen).

2. Also worried about Elena, Stefan “reaches out” for help from Meredith (Torrey DeVitto) and Matt (Zach Roerig).

3. Damon and Rebekah “learn an unexpected bit of recent history” from Vaughn (Charlie Bewley).

4. Bonnie (Kat Graham) fills the group in on Shane’s (David Alpay) plan, and “everyone is horrified.”

5. Damon tries to help Elena, but she ends up devising her own plan — which will obviously fail, because it’s Elena’s plan.

When we last saw Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Rebekah (Claire Holt), they were getting down and dirty at Rebekah’s place — but the next time we see them, things will be considerably less sexy. Klaus: Kol’s irrational fear of Silas has pushed him over the edge. We need to put him down before he does any more damage. Now I know you have the last dagger, and I know you have some white ash, so hand it over.

Rebekah: And leave myself unprotected? You can file that request under “no chance in hell.” Be gone by the time I’ve showered [...something accent-y and inaudible.]

The best part about this little exchange? Stefan is awkwardly standing there the whole time! (That’s so not what he signed up for, Bex.)
