Red hair is so in right now that its inspired celebrities like Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson to experiment with the fiery hair color. But in a sea of bottle redheads, we’re paying tribute the the celebs with naturally red hair!

Having red hair often has a negative stigma attached to it. Ever heard of the term ‘ginger’?  But thanks to Isla Fisher, Julianne Moore and other stars born with fiery hair, being a redhead is hotter now than ever!  Check out some of our favorite sultry actresses in our gallery and vote!

Christina Hendricks reveals that she has been dying her hair since she was ten years old with the help of her mom! See why and get top tips for going (and staying) red from celebrity hair colorist Joel Warren, of the Warren-Tricomi salon.

Christina explains that her red hair inspiration initially came from a childhood favorite.

“I was obsessed with Anne of Green Gables, so I wanted red hair,” Christina tells the mag. “My mom said, ‘I’ll throw a rinse on it.’”

Dying her hair all these years must be trying on those red strands! I asked Joel his advice on how to maintain a bright color for a long period of time.

“Always maintain your hair with products that are best for your hair. I only use INOA by L’Oreal Professional on my clients,” says Joel. “It is the first ammonia free professional hair color . It leaves the hair in better condition than if you didn’t color it. My philosophy is the condition of the hair is as important as the color.”

Christina is a natural blonde, that’s now known as a classic redhead (just like Emma Stone!). As a naturally dark-haired woman, I want to know if anyone can get such a vibrant shade.

“There are no limits today with hair color, anybody can basically be any color,” explains Joel. “It is the process to get there that is the most important part when making a big change.”

So can a girl with any skin tone try a fire engine red?

“Yes. Hair color should be fun, there are no rules in my book except it has to look hot and can’t compromise the condition of the hair.”

Now that’s something that everyone should agree with!

Even the best hair and makeup teams in the world can have an off day and these lovely ladies from the 2011 Screen Actors Guild Awards are a perfect example of that. It’s time to check out the stars that didn’t exactly make the grade and for the Worst Red Carpet Beauty Look from the night. Let’s review the contenders:

Oh, Nicole Kidman. I get the whole messy updo concept to go with your Nina Ricci dress, but it didn’t wind up looking polished. As a matter of fact, it looks like Walk of Shame hair.  Not terribly upset about the makeup, though but as an overall look, this didn’t work.

As reported previously, I depend on Helena Bonham Carter to bring the crazy and she, again, delivered like Domino’s.  The crazy can-can girl updo with a long curly ponytail was more appropriate for the Moulin Rouge than the red carpet. Also, I should not be able to see your lip liner.

It pains me to write this about Eva Longoria (because I love her) but this was all wrong. The orange glow, the intensely spiky eyelashes, the severely arched eyebrows – none of this works. Plus, there’s one thing that never works on the red carpet: visible double-stick tape. Check out under her armpit. Poor Eva!

Winona Ryder also worked another crazy look on the red carpet. What is happening with the Medusa hairstyle at the top? Why so much blush? A softer makeup look would have worked with the hair or a more refined hairstyle would have worked with the makeup, but the two in combination here is a disaster.

I know, I know – it’s like kicking a puppy, but I really didn’t like Jenna Fischer’s whole look. She needed something more dramatic to prevent looking washed out.  This looks like she just came from the gym. Not a good choice.

Oh, Christina Hendricks. I can see where this was going but it wound up in vampire chic territory. The hair’s a little too high at the crown and , while I love the dark eye makeup, it came off Goth with the black dress because she’s so pale.

Then there’s Melissa Leo. One, too much powder makes every line on your face more visible so take that down a notch for the Oscars. Two, curls with that neckline were not a good choice. Three, carry the color on your face all the way down your neck so your head and your decolletage aren’t two different colors.

Get the insider tips and tricks on going red, straight from one of Hollywood’s hottest colorists!

Hollywood’s hottest sirens are rocking fiery red locks! Think about it: Emma Stone, Christina Hendricks, Julianne Moore? HOT! Considering taking the plunge into the red side of hair color? I know I am, so I went to straight to one of Hollywood’s hottest colorists to get the scoop!

Jason Backe, Celebrity Colorist with L’Oreal Professionnel at Ted Gibson Salon, is one of most sought-after talents in the business, with clients like Ashley Greene, Anne Hathaway and Christina Ricci vying for time in his chair. Here’s what Jason says you should ask yourself if you’re thinking about going red:

• Does it fit your personality? “I always think that a redheaded woman is not a wilted flower. She’s either the smouldering temptress (Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, for example) or the funny friend (think Debra Messing or Lucille Ball.) Either way, she’s someone who likes attention.”
• Are you ready for the comments? “When you dye your hair red, you’re making a statement so be ready for reactions, both good and bad. Not ready for the opinions? You might reconsider.”
• Do you know your complexion? “Here’s a rule of thumb: the darker your complexion, the more you should avoid copper and orange hues because they’ll look cheap. Conversely, the lighter your complexion and your eyes, the more you can get away with.”
• Can you handle the commitment? “Red is a lot of maintenance, so you have to commit to your colorist, the salon and the money it will take to make sure it looks great. You’ll need to visit every three weeks to keep it looking fresh. “
• Are you patient? “Please just know that even though it’s a big change, it’s a process like anything else.  So, if you’re not immediately happy with the color or you want to tweak it, don’t worry: it can be done and it will look spectacular.”

I’ve decided to add another game: the Celebrity Makeover Request. I almost always bring you photos of perfect beauty looks, but every once in a while it’s nice to look at what not to do. Today I ask you to vote for the star that should change her red carpet beauty look. Who will win? That’s up to you, BFFs!

In this corner, we have Christina Aguilera. I am a HUGE X-Tina fan, but her hair and makeup just seem so WRONG in this picture! Her extremely heavy makeup is better for stage than the red carpet and the extensions are too thin and just seem like an afterthought (and why the weird honey blonde one in the back?) Maybe she could have done a little less?

In the other corner, we have Christina Hendricks at the finale party for Mad Men. I’m not exactly what’s happening here. Her makeup looks like she did it in the car and her hair is in some weird half-up/half-down state. She’s a gorgeous woman! Could she have done a little more?
