Governor Chris Christie isn’t afraid to speak his mind, especially when it comes to his views on how politics are played — and is his mind, the NRA anti-gun control ad that went after President Barack Obama and his daughters Sasha and Malia was over the line.

During a press conference on Jan. 17, Governor Christie was asked what he thought about the NRA advertisement, which called Obama “elitist” and a “hypocrite” for allowing his daughters to be protected by arm guards 24/7, but still keeping our schools a gun-free zone.

“I think any of us who are public figures, you see that kind of ad and you cringe,” the Governor of New Jersey said.

“I’m a father who is a public figure, who has four children and my children had no choice realistically in what I decided to do with my career and what effect that has had on their lives,” he added according to NorthJersey.com.

“Don’t be dragging people’s children into this,” Governor Christie said. “It’s wrong and I think it demeans them and it makes them less of a valid trusted source of information on the real issues that confront this debate.”

Is Chris Christie‘s expanding waistline the eighth wonder of the world? You’d think so based on Barbara Walters‘ latest interview with the New Jersey governor, in which she asked him point-blank for the secret behind his obesity. As you might expect, the interview — which was part of Babs’ 10 Most Fascinating People special Dec. 12 on ABC — took an uncomfortable turn from there.

Here’s the exact transcript of Babs and Chris’ super-awkward interaction:

BW: I feel very uncomfortable asking this question when I’m sitting opposite you, but you are a little overweight.
CC: More than a little.
BW: Yeah…
CC: Yeah…
BW: …Why?
CC: If I could figure that out, I’d fix it.
BW: There are people who say you couldn’t be president because you’re so heavy. What do you say to them?
CC: That’s ridiculous. I mean, that’s ridiculous. I don’t know what the basis for that is.
BW: I think they’re worried about your health.
CC: I’ve done this job pretty well, and I think people have been watching me for the last number of weeks in Hurricane Sandy — doing 18-hour days, then getting up and being just as effective in the job — so I don’t think that would be a problem.

We all know the cast of Jersey Shore has a curious relationship with politics — Snooki famously blasted President Barack Obama for his proposed tax on tanning — but now they might actually have a reason to fight the power.
