Lauren Scruggs‘ story is nothing short of a miracle. Four months after accidentally walking into an airplane propeller, losing both her left eye and hand, the fashion blogger has made a remarkable recovery. Not only has she regained her speech and personality — two things doctors feared she might lose forever — but her parents revealed April 6 on Good Morning America that she will soon be getting a prosthetic arm.

“She’s already selected that,” Lauren’s dad Jeff Scruggs said. “It’ll be another month before she gets it.”

As always, Lauren’s family attributes their faith to their daughter’s recovery process.

“She’s concentrating on her rehabilitation, and she knows that God is carrying her,” Jeff and Cheryl Scruggs said. ”Because of Him, she has the strength and courage to get up every day and do what she’s supposed to do. … Our faith is such an important part of our life. It was the same hope that restored our marriage 12 years ago and healed Lauren.

The Scruggs also said Lauren’s twin sister Brittany has been a huge support system for her.

Lauren Scruggs is making major strides in her recovery and we are thrilled! The model lost her left hand, left eye and suffered brain injuries after walking into the propellor of a two-seater prop plane four weeks ago. But Lauren and her mom Cheryl Scruggs went to one of their favorite places on Jan. 4, can you guess where?

Whole Foods was their first stop and we love that place too !

“She and I made our first adventure, the other day,” Cheryl blogs. “To one of our favorite places, Whole Foods! We love you Whole Foods!! We had many complete strangers stop us, with tears in their eyes, saying they have been praying for Lo and for our family.”

Lauren has also been spending a lot of time reflecting on her accident and she believes she was “chosen” by God to make a difference in the world.

We just hope Lauren continues to make progress and we can’t wait until she gives her first TV interview!

Despite losing her left hand and left eye, Lauren Scruggs has been moved from ICU to an inpatient rehab facility. Her parents Jeff and Cheryl Scruggs are at her bedside every day and they are doing there best to keep friends, family and well wishers up to date by posting to their blog almost daily.

Cheryl wrote two very emotional and inspiring blogs over the weekend, calling Lauren’s life their “Christmas gift.”

“Jeff and I are sitting here, quietly, watching Lo sleep, and thinking through the last two weeks,” Cheryl writes. “We could never have dreamed up what happened a little over two weeks ago. We were just “living life”. And bam … life changed in an instant.”

Lauren’s mom also revealed exciting news that Lauren moved to an inpatient rehab facility where she will receive “extensive” occupational, speech and physical therapy. Now that her left eye was removed, they will also begin consultations for her prosthetic eye.

“We have been praying for miracles,” she writes in another blog. “And miracles we have received. More than we can count, more than we even know of. Doctors could not have predicted the amazing progress she has, and is making. She is way ahead of where she should be. We have heard story after story about people recommitting their lives to Jesus, as well as people coming to know Jesus for the first time.”

Lauren walked into a propeller of a two-seat prop plane on the night of Dec. 3, after looking at Christmas lights with friends. Her face and left hand were severely slashed. Lauren’s hand was later amputated, her left eye removed, and she also suffered a skull fracture and brain injury.
