Chaz Bono faced some harsh criticism throughout his Dancing with the Stars run — first for his sexuality, and then for being overweight! However, Chaz, 42, told The View on Oct. 27 that the negativity was just a “teeny little part of it”, and said that the comments were “really miniscule in everything I’ve gained.”

So what was his biggest gain from competing on the show?  It brought him closer to his mom Cher!

“My mom was totally behind me doing this and thought it was great,” he told The View.  ”If anything, I feel like I was finally doing something professionally that she has done and can relate to.”

Cher was by his side every step of the way, tweeting angrily when the judges insulted Chaz and called him fat.  When he got voted off on Oct. 26, she tweeted, ”It Would Have Been Blast if Chaz Stay-ed,But He NEVER Danced b4,so it was a Great Dream 4 a Great Guy!XX.”  How sweet!

Chaz said that his dad, Sonny Bono, would have also been proud of him.  ”If my dad was still alive, he’d go on with Dancing With the Stars!”

We’re glad that the show helped Chaz connect with his mama, and are sad to see him go!  We’ll miss watching him dance on the show every week!

After last week’s night of nearly flawless dances, there were a few major screw ups on Dancing with the Stars Oct. 10. Chynna Phillips forgot her moves and Chaz Bono left much to be desired. However, Ricki Lake scored the first 10s of the season and Carson Kressley had me buckled up with a fit of giggles with his animated pirate jig. Plus, the one and only Cher made her first appearance on the reality show to support her son.

Chynna Phillips: Chynna and Tony’s tango dance to the Mission Impossible theme song started cool enough with Tony dangling from the ceiling like a spy. In 13 seasons, I think that’s the most DWTS has ever spent on special effects. However, after the first few counts, everything fell apart. Chynna forgot what was going on and the dance was horrible. “You lost it. It all went wrong,” Len Goodman told a teary-eyed Chynna. 21/30.

David Arquette: David and Kym danced a paso doble to the Raiders March theme and totally redeemed themselves for any less than perfect prior performances. Every other week I’ve felt kind of sorry the actor, but tonight he leaped and twirled with the best of them. I also loved seeing Courteney Cox and their daughter in the audience supporting David during the performances. Even though their marriage didn’t work out, they seem to have a really healthy friendship, which is refreshing. 23/30

Carson Kressley: Watching Carson prance around like a pirate in his Viennese waltz with Anna was the highlight of my day. Even though his dance moves looked about as refined as a four year old in the tap/ballet combo class, what he lacks in technique, he makes up for in passion. Let’s keep him around for a while longer, please. 20/30

Nancy Grace: Thanks to her nip slip and fart-gate last week, Nancy Grace has rapidly become one of my favorite contestants this season, so I was pretty bummed when her paso doble was boring. Her moves were fine, but there was nothing memorable about the dance. “I can’t get excited about it,” Len complained. My thoughts exactly. 21/30

Hope Solo: Since they were dressed up in Woody & Jessie Toy Story costumes, which thrilled me beyond reason, I couldn’t even go into Hope and Maks’ dance objectively. I loved every minute of their foxtrot to “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” and kept imagining how fun it would be to that close to Maks. Hope might be the luckiest chick on the planet. 24/30

Rob Kardashian: Seeing Rob so vulnerable and determined to do well and prove himself, tugged at my heart strings. I thought his paso doble to the Superman theme was entertaining…let’s keep him around a little longer too. 24/30

Ricki Lake: Ricki’s tango to the Psycho theme was very fitting for October and it was so well-executed, I forgot I wasn’t watching two dance pros. Ricki is quick on her feet and has impeccable technique, so it wasn’t surprising she got the first 10s of the season. 29/30

Chaz Bono: Chaz’s paso doble to the Rocky theme was clever and fitting for Chaz’s life. However, he still struggles with his moves…I’m surprised he’s still competing. However, it was cool to finally see Cher in the audience supporting her son. “It was amazing to have her support and have her there. My whole family’s here. So special,” Chaz said. 21/30

J.R. Martinez: After his emotional dance earned him the longest standing ovation of the season last week, J.R.’s dance tonight was disappointing and a bit dull. Next to Ricki, J.R. is obviously the strongest dancer in the competition. Plus, he’s incredibly likable, so my money is on him making it to at least the final three. 26/30

Sure, the ’70s are back in a big way for fall, but when we saw reality star Kim Kardashian step out in NYC wearing high-waisted, white flares, a white blouse, and a white floppy hat, we thought we were looking at Cher — was she trying to channel the famous singer? From the flowing brown locks to the white ensemble and the mega-lashes it totally looks like it! Maybe this is Kim’s way of putting their twitter feud behind them.

While Cher is known to be outspoken, her rant on reality stars made it seem like she was seriously insulting the famous reality fam — and considering that Cher’s child is competing against Kim’s bro on Dancing With The Stars, we think the feud may also have some competition mixed into it!

While their feud doesn’t interest me, Kim’s all white look definitely does — it’s so retro! We wonder what Cher would have to say about her look! Would she be flattered or annoyed?

Brad Pitt confessed to Oprah in 2008 that his daughter Shiloh, 5, with Angelina Jolie, insists on being called John.  “John, I’m John,” he explained, “It’s a Peter Pan thing.” Well, it must have been a Flinstones thing for Chaz Bono, 42, when he grew up as Chasity, because he liked being called “Fred!”

Unlike mom Cher, Chaz’s father Sonny Bono didn’t see his daughter go through her gender-reassignment surgery. But apparently Sonny already had a male nickname for Chastity (now Chaz) when she was a young girl.

“He called me Fred,” Chaz tells Jay Leno on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

“We were in Palm Springs one weekend, and there was this toy store that I used to love to go. We were in there looking, I don’t know if it was mugs or key chains – stuff that had people’s name on them. They never had my name, so my dad said, ‘Pick a name – what do you think of Fred? And I apparently really liked it,’ Chaz adds. “It stuck for quite some time.”

And Shiloh, who Chaz hinted showed signs of being transgender, likes to be called by a boy’s name as well as dress like a boy. “…we’ve got to call her John. ‘Shi, do you want …’ – ‘John. I’m John,’” Brad explains of Shiloh’s nickname.

“And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’ And she goes, ‘No!’”

Can you believe Cher is 65-years-old? She looks amazing!

Cher has had another big year! She wrapped up her three year stint at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Vegas, starred in the musical movie Burlesque alongside Christina Aguilera and recorded two new songs for the film, one which earned a 2011 Golden Globe Award for best original song!

Cher has two children, Chaz Bono, 42, formerly Chastity, who underwent a gender reassignment surgery last year, with Sonny Bono and a son Elijah Blue Alman, 35, with Gregg Allman. Cher is currently dating comedic writer, Ron Zimmerman. 

“The day that we talked about it, really talked about it seriously, I said, ‘If you have to do this you just have to do it,’” Cher says of Chaz’s sex change. “I wasn’t always able to be quite as calm through the process, but that day I was so calm, and just thought, ‘This is what has to happen.’”

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Sonny and Cher’s son, who transitioned from female to male, “would love” to talk to Brangelina about Shiloh. Hey Chaz, why are you making assumptions!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s 4½-year-old daughter Shiloh is known around the world for her tomboy style and rough and tough personality, but no one ever claimed she was actually transgender — until now …

Cher and the late Sonny Bono‘s son, Chaz Bono, formerly known as Chastity, underwent a gender reassignment, and wants to let Brangelina, and the world, know that there’s nothing wrong with being a tomboy.

“I would love to talk to [Brad and Angelina] at some point,” Chaz, 42, tells E! News. “To at least let them know we have this resource for them if they ever need it.” Did he just imply that Shiloh is a transgender! That’s taking it a bit too far, don’t you think?

Chaz, who volunteers for a support group for kids with gender identity issues, explains to E!, “I relate to these kids. The difference between them and myself is that I didn’t articulate it and fight for it and say, ‘No, no, no! I’m a boy!’ I have so much respect for these kids that do.”

And he adds, “People get too freaked out about kids and what to do with kids. If you just let kids do what they need to do they usually have the right idea.” Exactly, so why not let Shiloh live out her tomboy days in peace and stop assuming she’s something unless you know she is!

Chaz, who releases a new memoir, Transition: The Story of How I Became a Man, on Tuesday and also stars in a new documentary, Becoming Chaz, which he hopes will make people more aware of the transgendered community.
