Being a teen dad is hard — just ask Gary Shirley, y’all — but it’s even harder when your baby mama drops your kid off at your doorstep and skips town! Fortunately, ABC Family’s newest Baby Daddy Ben (Jean-Luc Bilodeau) gets by with a little help from his friends. Former Smart Guy Tahj Mowry plays one of those friends, and he tells HollywoodLife.com what to expect from the hilarious new series, including who his character will be butting heads with!

First of all, how glad are you to be back doing a sitcom?

Oh man, it feels great to be doing a sitcom again. It’s been a while since I’ve done one, and that’s where I grew up doing. It feels like I’m coming back home in a sense. It’s very fun. And a sitcom is its own beast, you know? It’s very different from film, and it’s very energetic. It’s fun having that live audience there every Friday night to give you that extra oomph. I’m super excited.

Well, we’re definitely glad to have you back on TV. Can you tell me a little bit about your character, Tucker?

Wow, where to begin? There’s no dull moment with Tucker; he’s just basically the funny guy in the house. The show takes place in Manhattan, just like the movie Three Men and a Baby. It’s basically a younger version of that, but more modernized and a little more hip. … Tucker is Ben’s best friend, and he’s basically the best friend everyone wants to have. He’s funny, he’s charming, he’s hip, he’s cool, he has great fashion sense, he’s very New York. Everyone else in the house is wearing T-shirts and jeans, and Tucker comes out of the hallway, and he’s in a skinny tie and a vest. … I take longer than Chelsea Kane for my wardrobe, cause they have me in the most ridiculous outfits.

I hear Tucker’s attitude gets him into trouble sometimes. Is that true?

Well, he has no filter whatsoever. So he’ll say the first thing on his mind no matter who he’s talking to — even if it’s Ben’s mother. Tucker and Ben’s mom don’t get along too well. That whole thing they have going on is hilarious. And as the season goes, you’ll see more of them together, which is very awkward because they don’t like each other whatsoever.

Does Tucker have a life of his own, or does everything revolve around Ben and the baby?

That’s what this show is really about, us trying to balance our young-adult lives while trying to take care of this baby. So, it’s a challenge cause we can barely take care of ourselves. Tucker has a girlfriend, but in the beginning of the season she owns him completely. Like, he’s whipped; the definition of being whipped is Tucker. For some reason, he can’t muster up the courage to say what he feels to his girlfriend, even though he can say it to everyone else.

Did your real-life experience as an uncle help prepare you for working with a baby?

Yeah, I definitely feel like it did, but it’s tricky because it’s not the same as dealing with a baby in normal life. You’re dealing with a baby while shooting a TV show, so you have to be quick on your feet. You have to stay in character because if the baby’s crying in a scene where it’s not supposed to be crying, you have to be ready to jump to the next part of the scene, or a whole other scene in which the baby is supposed to be crying.

So the babies pretty much run the show?

[Laughs] Oh, yes. Definitely.

Hines Ward beat Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane on the finale of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ May 24! Were YOU happy with the outcome?

What has felt like the most wholesome and scandal-free season in Dancing with the Stars‘s history came to an anti-climatic close May 24. For a second we thought the under dogs — Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane — had a shot at winning the Mirror Ball trophy, but we were sadly mistaken.

Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward took home the grand prize — and we can’t say we were surprised. An early favorite, Hines was consistently strong on the dance floor and always held his own in popularity. We probably would be less bitter about the season’s ending if the finale hadn’t taken a painful, long two hours.

For 120 minutes, we were subjected to forced montages, excessive packages and random performances. Nothing was even decided an hour and a half into the show! Thankfully, we’ve been conditioned throughout the season to sit through cheesy, mindless programming. The finale was essentially the marathon to our training — and we’re proud to say we got through it, corny jokes and all.

Ralph Macchio might be a little late with his complaints, but he’s speaking out nonetheless. The 49-year-old Karate Kid actor was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars May 17, but he doesn’t think his low scores the past few weeks have been fair.

“At one point I regretted not saying certain things when I heard certain criticism from the judges. But a week or two ago I said, ‘You know, I should speak up a little more,’ because it was becoming evident that the playing field isn’t completely level,” Ralph told E! News after the results show, adding, “But I held back and I still think it was the right thing by taking the high road and not saying anything.”

We’ve loved watching Ralph charm America with his positive personality and goofy smile, so it’s weird to hear anything but cheerful comments from his mouth. That said, the judges did give him more criticism than any other contestants…even when he seemed like a stronger dancer.

As Dancing with the Stars season 12 comes to an end, we’re not sure who we’d peg as the winner. Kirstie Alley is hysterical and has a large fan base and Chelsea Kane is adorable and is objectively the best dancer of the group. However, Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward has the talent AND the voters, which means odds might be in his favor.

Kirstie Alley is trying so hard to drop her excess weight, she’s cut down to 1,400 calories combined with more than five hours of exercise a day! How much dieting is too much?

Kirstie Alley has dropped more than 60 pounds throughout the last few month on Dancing with the Stars — but after she fell twice during this week’s rehearsal, we’re concerned she’s going about her weight loss the wrong way!

In the package before her performance, the 60-year-old actress falling not once, but twice, during rehearsals. Visually upset, her partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, asked how much she’d been eating.

“1,400 calories,” she said. Even though 1,400 calories can be enough energy for someone who’s dieting, Kirstie is working out more than four to five hours a day — so Maks said she needs more sustenance.

After her dance, Kirstie explained she wasn’t starving herself on purpose. “I wasn’t intentionally not eating. I forgot!” she explained.

Despite her minor setbacks during rehearsal, Kirstie wowed the audience — and the judges — with her Argentinian tango, scoring two nines and her first 10 of the season! In her second dance, she didn’t impress quite as much, earning 25/30.

Nevertheless, Kirstie still managed to stay in the middle of the pack this week — holding her own once again. We just hope Maks makes sure his partner is eating enough each day!

As the competition gets stiffer, entertainment value alone isn’t going to keep Kirstie Alley in the competition. She had the worst scores out of everyone May 2!

If Kirstie Alley gets kicked off Dancing with the Stars May 3, I’m going to lose interest in the competition all together. Although this season has been jam packed with talent, there  hasn’t been one train wreck or any drama — and I’m bored. That said, the only person who keeps me sitting through the show day in and day out is Kirstie. She’s genuine…she’s dramatic…and most importantly, she’s a riot. Unfortunately, the 60-year-old actress didn’t bring it enough May 2 to earn high scores from the judges. 

Kirstie Alley: Kirstie and Maks’s jive to “La Bamba” was adorable! Being an actress, Kirstie pulls off the entertainment aspect of her dances every single week. However, technically speaking, her dancing leaves much to be desired… 30/40

Ralph Macchio: Ralph and Karina’s quick step was fantastic! After weeks of lagging and dropping the ball (compared to their first weeks), this couple stepped up to the plate and killed it. It reminded me of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. 36/40

Hines Ward: Hines and Kym danced the tango and maintained their high placement on the leader board. If Hines stays consistently strong, I think he’ll go all the way until the end. 36/40

Chelsea Kane: Chelsea and Mark’s paso doble was intense, creative and firey. I thought it was entertaining and couldn’t tell at all Chelsea isn’t a pro-dancer…she was that good. The audience agreed with me (and gave them a standing ovation), but the judges weren’t sold. 34/40

Kendra Wilkinson: Kendra and Louis danced the tango tonight and even though the judges were complimentary, I felt she lacked gracefulness. Her moves seemed stiff and slowed. 31/40

Romeo: Romeo and Chelsie have slid through the competition by being cute and entertaining, but the judges weren’t having it tonight. They told Romeo he has to focus on his technique and footwork if he’s going to make it further…yiikes. 30/40

Chelsie Hightower says Mark Ballas is still playing coy about his relationship with Pia Toscano, but she says she wishes them ‘all the happiness in the world’ and even spills some spoilers from next week’s ‘Dancing with the Stars!’

As one of Mark Ballas‘s closest friends, Dancing with the Stars pro Chelsie Hightower knows when a girl has got his heart — so she gave reporters the real scoop on his new girlfriend, Pia Toscano, at the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G launch at the Beverly Hilton April 20.

“I think [Pia] is a great girl and he is a great guy,” Chelsie said. “She’s adorable. Mark is my best friend, so I wish him all the happiness and all the success in the world. If he is happy with her, then I am happy for him.”

Interestingly enough, Chelsie admitted Mark, 24, isn’t confessing his true feelings for the 22-year-old American Idol alum just yet.

“He says they are just friends,” Chelsea said, smiling. “…But you never know!”

As for Pia’s performance on Dancing with the Stars next week, Chelsie dished some insider scoop.

“On Tuesday night, he will be dancing alone to her — it won’t be part of the competition,” she explained, adding. “Mark will be dancing with Karina during it.”

Mark stays pretty quiet about his new relationship, but does comment on Pia’s beauty and how upset he was to see her booted off ‘Idol!’

Mark Ballas and his Dancing With the Stars partner Chelsea Kane were on The Ellen Show April 18, and while they were there to talk about their performance on the hit show, there seemed to be only one question on host Ellen DeGeneres‘ mind — Mark’s rumored relationship with Pia Toscano. While Mark remained pretty mum on the subject, he did admit Pia was “gorgeous” and a “nice girl.” Awwww.

Mark also said of Pia’s American Idol departure, “When she was eliminated I was mortified.” Double awwww.

Mark and Chelsea then performed their Vinesse Waltz, which looked amazing as their dances almost always do. Having received the highest marks on the program last week, it seems like we will be seeing a lot more of this couple. And, hopefully, a lot more of Pia and Mark!
