Chaz Bono faced some harsh criticism throughout his Dancing with the Stars run — first for his sexuality, and then for being overweight! However, Chaz, 42, told The View on Oct. 27 that the negativity was just a “teeny little part of it”, and said that the comments were “really miniscule in everything I’ve gained.”

So what was his biggest gain from competing on the show?  It brought him closer to his mom Cher!

“My mom was totally behind me doing this and thought it was great,” he told The View.  ”If anything, I feel like I was finally doing something professionally that she has done and can relate to.”

Cher was by his side every step of the way, tweeting angrily when the judges insulted Chaz and called him fat.  When he got voted off on Oct. 26, she tweeted, ”It Would Have Been Blast if Chaz Stay-ed,But He NEVER Danced b4,so it was a Great Dream 4 a Great Guy!XX.”  How sweet!

Chaz said that his dad, Sonny Bono, would have also been proud of him.  ”If my dad was still alive, he’d go on with Dancing With the Stars!”

We’re glad that the show helped Chaz connect with his mama, and are sad to see him go!  We’ll miss watching him dance on the show every week!

Chaz Bono, 42, faced enough criticism for being the first transgender contestant to compete on Dancing With the Stars, but after he and dance partner Lacey Schwimmer got kicked off the show on Oct. 25, Bono revealed that his biggest struggle was being bullied for his weight.

“I was called a basketball, a penguin, an Ewok, and I just didn’t appreciate it,” he told Good Morning America on Oct. 26.

It was unfair and just plain mean for the judges, Bruno Tonioli in particular, to pick on Bono for his weight, when the show is about improving dance technique and performance!

“If you want to critique my dancing and give me some constructive advice so I can try to improve the next time that I’m there, that would be great. But I don’t really know how to be less penguish, and so I kind of took offense to that,” he said. You tell ‘em Chaz!

Not only was Chaz a hard worker, but he also proved to be a fan favorite for his fun and vibrant personality, and his enthusiastic attitude throughout the season.

Chaz also made a great point — if he were a woman, he would have never been called fat on TV!  Past female contestants, most notably Kirstie Alley, was in fact praised by DWTS judges when she was on the show last season, despite her weight issues.  So why was Chaz victim to such harsh and hateful comments?  This would have never been the case if he were female.

Chaz got through it all with support from his partner Lacey and his mom, Cher!

After Bruno called her son fat on the show, Cher tweeted, ‘I COULD TEACH HIS LITTLE ARM WAVING ASS SOME MANNERS ! Critique CHAZ’S DANCE STYLE, MOVEMENTS ETC,.BUT DON’T MAKE FUN OF MY CHILD ON NAT.TV.’ She’s right! Calling him names is not constructive, not to mention way out of line!

Chaz is hoping that he can turn the negative comments around, and use his experience to become a role model for young men who are going through similar struggles.  Before leaving the show he said, “I wanted to show America a different kind of man. If there was somebody like me on TV when I was growing up, my whole life would’ve been different.”

He should be happy that he no longer has to deal with the rude and unnecessary comments from insensitive judges. Chaz is an inspiration and we’ll miss him on DWTS!

I hope Nancy Grace savored every minute of her paso doble on the Oct. 10 episode of Dancing with the Stars – because after tonight’s elimination round, she may never dance again! Nancy tied with Chaz Bono and Chynna Phillips for the second-lowest score last night, squeaking out a measly 21 out of 30 from the judges; and without an awkward bodily function to drum up buzz, I have a feeling America drop her like a bad habit. [Insert fart joke here.]

In past weeks, Nancy has managed to overshadow her low scores with outlandish gimmicks. First came the epic nip slip, which she quickly denied, claiming it was actually a flower petal from her costume. This was followed by the fart heard ’round the world, which she also denied, blaming it on her poor dance partner Tristan MacManus.

But the time for farts and nips is long gone. Unless Carson Kressley gets voted off tonight — though I sincerely hope he doesn’t, because he’s single-handedly keeping the satin suit jacket industry afloat — it’ll be curtains for Miz Grace.

After last week’s night of nearly flawless dances, there were a few major screw ups on Dancing with the Stars Oct. 10. Chynna Phillips forgot her moves and Chaz Bono left much to be desired. However, Ricki Lake scored the first 10s of the season and Carson Kressley had me buckled up with a fit of giggles with his animated pirate jig. Plus, the one and only Cher made her first appearance on the reality show to support her son.

Chynna Phillips: Chynna and Tony’s tango dance to the Mission Impossible theme song started cool enough with Tony dangling from the ceiling like a spy. In 13 seasons, I think that’s the most DWTS has ever spent on special effects. However, after the first few counts, everything fell apart. Chynna forgot what was going on and the dance was horrible. “You lost it. It all went wrong,” Len Goodman told a teary-eyed Chynna. 21/30.

David Arquette: David and Kym danced a paso doble to the Raiders March theme and totally redeemed themselves for any less than perfect prior performances. Every other week I’ve felt kind of sorry the actor, but tonight he leaped and twirled with the best of them. I also loved seeing Courteney Cox and their daughter in the audience supporting David during the performances. Even though their marriage didn’t work out, they seem to have a really healthy friendship, which is refreshing. 23/30

Carson Kressley: Watching Carson prance around like a pirate in his Viennese waltz with Anna was the highlight of my day. Even though his dance moves looked about as refined as a four year old in the tap/ballet combo class, what he lacks in technique, he makes up for in passion. Let’s keep him around for a while longer, please. 20/30

Nancy Grace: Thanks to her nip slip and fart-gate last week, Nancy Grace has rapidly become one of my favorite contestants this season, so I was pretty bummed when her paso doble was boring. Her moves were fine, but there was nothing memorable about the dance. “I can’t get excited about it,” Len complained. My thoughts exactly. 21/30

Hope Solo: Since they were dressed up in Woody & Jessie Toy Story costumes, which thrilled me beyond reason, I couldn’t even go into Hope and Maks’ dance objectively. I loved every minute of their foxtrot to “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” and kept imagining how fun it would be to that close to Maks. Hope might be the luckiest chick on the planet. 24/30

Rob Kardashian: Seeing Rob so vulnerable and determined to do well and prove himself, tugged at my heart strings. I thought his paso doble to the Superman theme was entertaining…let’s keep him around a little longer too. 24/30

Ricki Lake: Ricki’s tango to the Psycho theme was very fitting for October and it was so well-executed, I forgot I wasn’t watching two dance pros. Ricki is quick on her feet and has impeccable technique, so it wasn’t surprising she got the first 10s of the season. 29/30

Chaz Bono: Chaz’s paso doble to the Rocky theme was clever and fitting for Chaz’s life. However, he still struggles with his moves…I’m surprised he’s still competing. However, it was cool to finally see Cher in the audience supporting her son. “It was amazing to have her support and have her there. My whole family’s here. So special,” Chaz said. 21/30

J.R. Martinez: After his emotional dance earned him the longest standing ovation of the season last week, J.R.’s dance tonight was disappointing and a bit dull. Next to Ricki, J.R. is obviously the strongest dancer in the competition. Plus, he’s incredibly likable, so my money is on him making it to at least the final three. 26/30

The brilliant aspect of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars is both the judges’ scores AND audiences votes come into play week to week as contestants are eliminated — and boy, did America want to keep Chaz Bono around for another week!

Even though he placed on the very bottom of the score board two weeks in a row, the first transgender contestant on DWTS managed to hold on for one more week — which meant that The Hills star Kristin Cavallari and her partner, Mark Ballas, who consistently placed near the top, were given the boot.

“I’m a little surprised, to be honest, but I’ve had such a great time, and I’ve had an awesome experience, so it is what it is,” the 24-year-old reality starlet told Brooke Burke after the show.

Meanwhile, Chaz tweeted, “This is the most amazing experience. #SAFE #DWTS.”

Chaz Bono might have been the most buzzed about cast member in Dancing with the Stars history, but his time on the hit show looks to be limited. For the second week in the row, the first-ever transgender contestant scored on the bottom of the leader board — and even we weren’t won over by his moves!

Dancing to his dad Sonny Bono‘s solo hit, “Laugh at Me,” Chaz’s feet moved slowly to the rumba and his moves weren’t sharp at all. Even his partner, Lacey Schwimmer, seemed to pale in comparison to the other dance pros. Although the judges were kind, their scores reflected the weak performance. Chaz and Lacey were the only couple to score less than 21 points — and this is their second week in the bottom.

We can’t say we were too shocked with the results of Dancing with the Stars Sept. 27. In fact, we were hoping this person would have gotten eliminated week one, so it was a relief it happened this week, especially with two of our favorites in the bottom!

Elisabetta Canalis, who is best known for being George Clooney‘s ex-girlfriend, was the unfortunate star to get the boot during this week’s elimination round. Chaz Bono and David Arquette – who both go about the competition with great attitudes and tons of charm — were the other two in the bottom three.

Hopefully this extra week gives David and Chaz time to rehearse their hearts out and step up their games!

Nancy Grace took ABC’s Dancing with the Stars to a PG-13 rating tonight! The normally outspoken talking head was mortified when one of her nipples popped out in full form after finishing her dance. At first she was unaware, but the camera quickly cut from her face to the audience and we could hear host Tom Bergeron coming to the rescue saying, ”There we go, there we go. Let me just help you out there a little bit.” 

Meanwhile, Chaz Bono has been one of — if not, the most — controversial celebrity to have ever competed on Dancing with the Stars, so it’ll be a big old bummer if he gets sent home in week two. However, the 42-year-old transgender advocate struggled tonight with all the pressure dancing has put on his joints and didn’t hold it together very well. However, while Chaz failed to impress, Ricki Lake shocked everyone with a sexy, fun and overall entertaining number that garnered her the highest scores of the evening. After watching week two, who do YOU think has what it takes to win the Mirror Ball Trophy?

Here are my thoughts on each performance:

Hope Solo: Hope started the night off with a jive to Avril Lavigne‘s hit, “Girlfriend,” which was super cute. The judges enjoyed it, but still told her she has much room for improvement. I thought her interview at the end was funny. “These soccer kicks to these dance kicks are two entirely different things!” she told Brooke Burke. 6, 7, 6 = 19/30

Kristin Cavallari: The Hills star channeled old Hollywood for her adorable quickstep. Even though she doesn’t have a performance background, Kristin sparkles on stage. “Last week nervous. This week, stunning, sophisticated!” Carrie Ann Inaba raved. 8, 7, 7 = 22/30

David Arquette: I’m still giggling like a school girl after watching David’s jive. Despite his horrible technique, he was having so much fun, I couldn’t take my eyes off the TV screen. If you haven’t watched it already, be sure to check it out. It’s the funniest performance of the night. I’d be devastated if he gets kicked off — he’s so likable! “You’re starting to find your persona,” Bruno said. 6, 6, 6 = 18/30

Elisabetta Canalis: It could just be me, but I don’t find Elisabetta likable at all. Last week, I was positive she’d get the boot, but somehow she hung in there! This week, Elisabetta’s dance moves improved, but her charisma (in my humble opinion) did not. Am I being too harsh? 7, 7, 7 = 21/30

Rob Kardashian: Rob seemed cautious to me on stage, like he was scared to be there. However, the judges raved about how much progress he made in one week. “It’s official, Rob Kardashian made it farther than Kim Kardashian!” Carrie Ann said. “You’ve got the dancing gene!” I don’t think this is Rob’s destiny, but I’m fine keeping him around for one more week. 7, 7, 7 = 21/30

Carson Kressley: Carson’s performance looked and sounded like a Kindergartener’s learning tape. The song choice was horrible and he resembled Pee Wee Herman. To top it off, I missed Carson’s charisma from last week. It seemed like he was trying soo hard; he didn’t sparkle. I like Carson, but I don’t know how long he’ll make it. Len Goodman pointed out that Carson worked the hardest out of all the contestants this week — and that breaks my heart. Do you think he’s a goner? 6, 6, 6 = 18/30

Ricki Lake: The studio audience went nuts for Ricki and so did I! I thought her jive to “Hey Ya!” was entertaining and quirky. I loved how she threw out the sexy moves and gave it so much personality. Plus, it wasn’t all charisma. “You’re the first person to do the kicks and flips tonight currently,” Bruno complimented. Carrie Ann raved as well. “Best jive of the night so far!” she said.

Chaz Bono: Chaz and Lacey sure brought the energy to the dance floor, despite Chaz’s screwed up knee. “The quickstep has to be fast,” Bruno said, critiquing Chaz’s speed. After all the hype, it seems like he’s having a hard time living up to expectations. I think we need to keep him around for a couple more weeks, but ultimately, he’s just not a dancer. 6, 5, 6 = 17/30

Chyna Phillips: Chyna has a bangin’ bod, so she looks fantastic in her costumes. However, she seemed a little loosey-goosey in her steps tonight. I think she’ll be around for awhile, but she’s certainly not my favorite. 7, 7, 7 = 21/30

Nancy Grace: I couldn’t believe how frustrated Nancy was getting with herself during rehearsals. It’s interesting to see how different she is on the dance floor than she is as a talking head behind a desk. She’s downright vulnerable! Although I wasn’t a huge fan of her performance tonight, the judges seemed pleased. “How refreshing,” Len raved. “Every dance has broken the rules of the quickstep! … That was a proper quickstep! Well done.” Plus, we’ll never forget her now infamous wardrobe malfunction…poor thing! 6, 8, 7 = 21/30

J.R. Martinez: Wow! It’s obvious why producers saved this jive for the last number of the night! J.R. proved to be the best dancer of the night once again. His moves were tight and filled with spark. The judges weren’t pleased with the choreography, but I’m not a dance pro, so I was thrilled with the performance. Next to Kristin Cavallari’s dance, this was my favorite. He’s fantastic! 7, 7, 8 = 22/30
